To Whom It May Concern.
Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, college of classical dances affiliated to the University of Mumbai is managed by Nalanda Dance Research Centre. It has been, is and will be functioning from Plot A-7/1, N.S.Road no.10, J.V.P.D.Scheme, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai – 400 049. This premises has been developed and maintained by Nalanda Dance Research Centre. The plot of land admeasures 1753 sq.meters approximately. At present the building has ground plus three floors. The permissible F.S.I. at present is 2.4. This leaves considerable F.S.I. still to be consumed. Being an educational institution the F.S.I. can be increased to 4.8
The copies of enclosed plans which are officially approved and sanctioned by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai which is the
thdesignated authority, are for ground, first, second, third and 4 floors out of th
which the 4 floor is yet to be constructed.
Nalanda Dance Research Centre is planning considerable expansions to its educational-cum-research activities.
Expansion Plans:
For the past 30 years Nalanda Dance Research Centre has been exploring the possibility of using dance – based movements, elements of Yoga and Indian martial arts towards therapeutical treatment largely for differently abled children.
A very positive outcome of this research project has been the introduction of Post Graduate Diploma in Dance and Fitness introduced at the behest of Nalanda Dance Research Centre by the University of Mumbai which is being taught at Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya.
The work in this direction has been gathering significant momentum and it is planned to include another set of scientifically formulated therapeutical geriatric movements for the benefit of senior citizens.
1. Nalanda Dance Research Centre is establishing its CENTRE OF MOVEMENT SCIENCE AND WELNESS in the very near future. Discussions are on with leading experts in the fields of Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Yoga, Indian martial arts - and of course the Kineseological facet of Indian Dance to prepare an academic frame

that would lead to a
'Post Graduate Degree in Movement Science and Welness' at the Faculty of Performing Arts at the University of Mumbai.
It is matter of pride that the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai Dr. Rajan Welukar has agreed in principle to introduce this course at the University.
2. At present there is an auditorium KANAK SABHA which is just adequate for the present group of activities. But it is not air-conditioned. Also, in keeping with the latest advances in Sound Recording and Reproduction, it is essential that the outdated systems be replaced with the latest equipment which, together with the upgraded sound system, would also include the latest digital videographical equipment which would facilitate conducting of Seminars, Workshops and multi-media presentations.
3. At present there is a unique comprehensive library which stocks not only more than 3000 books on dance and co-related subjects but also in a broader range which includes general subjects on Indian culture like music, philosophy. religion, aesthetics, theatre, history, literature etc. It also stocks varied books on world dance traditions as well as on human anatomy, physiology, kineseology, yoga, therapy etc. There are also books of general literature. Most importantly the library includes the priceless collection of archival recordings done by Nalanda Dance Research Centre of the leading gurus/maestros of Indian dance. These recordings cover 240 hours. This collection keeps on getting, added to and is available for viewing by the students. The library is supported by a state of the art recording-cum-editing studio.
For these vast ranging activities the present library needs to be greatly expanded to accommodate more books and provide reading rooms and viewing rooms.
The library also needs extra space to accommodate more computerswhich would offer internet connectivity for teachers, students and researchers.
4. With Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya gaining international fame more and more students from outside Mumbai and abroad are

seeking admission. At the same time , in order to enhance the knowledge component distinguished experts are continuously invited for the benefit of the students and the teachers.
Since there is no guest accommodation available it is planned to add a guest house as well as some residential rooms for students from outside Mumbai at affordable rates.
All these expanded activities will require extra F.S.I.
Since as an educational institution, 4.8 F.S.I. is permissible, a petition has been submitted to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, who has the exclusive authority to sanction F.S.I. by Nalanda Dance Research Centre; a favourable response is expected.
Once sanction is received a Master Plan will be prepared. At present copies of the duly sanctioned plans have been submitted.
Dr. Kanak Rele.
