CRM - Tell me a little bit about KILLAMORA, how long has the band been together.KILLAMORA - We’ve been a band since 2001, basically in December 2000, but we didn’t start rehearsing and making it a band till 2001. We started out with the idea with not being as heavy as we are today, but our natural tendencies got the best of us and we ended up turning it into the beast we call KILLAM-ORA today. I’m (Tony Gomez- Singer) the only original mem-ber from the original line-up. Fidel (drums) is next, he’s been with us for about eight years. We’ve had this bad boy go-ing for years and years, we’ve gone through a lot of changes, but we’ve been growing at a steady rate and with a blessing that we’ve come across some really good people that have helped us ride along the past eight years. I’m blessed with a great line-up of guys that totally kick ass, Izzy Chapa (guitar) and David Gomez (guitar) (who is our new guitar player, he re-cently replaced Joe Coridnado who had been with us for three years). dave’s just fit in like a glove, he’s really put in his time to deliver the goods, learning the music, and being very at-tentive to what we’re showing him at practice. We couldn’t ask for a better, new addition to the band. And rounding out the band is Will Guzman on bass. I’d also like to note that Fidel and Alex (ex-bassist), who actually played with SUFFER-ANCE and the original DEV-ASTATION, took a break from KILLAMORA to tour with DEV-ASTATION when they opened up for SOULFLY.

CRM - You guys have been a staple in the Corpus music scene for many years now. Delve into the scene itself here in Corpus, the highs and lows.

Killamora - there’s definitely some highs when we’re blessed with some national acts that come through. besides the things that happen at Concrete Street, that’s when you have everyone com-ing out of the woodwork that you normally don’t see at shows like we had tonight. With the help of House of Rock in having some battle of the band contests, and KC from HOR in being generous with us and inviting us to play with bands like STATIC X and ILL NINO, has helped create a fan base, especially with people that normally don’t get a chance to see us because they’re under-age. We play a lot of bars that where 21 and over are allowed to get in. but when we do get those opportunities like bleeding THROUGH over here at Zero’s or EXODUS and DEICIDE at the Ayers Event Center, that’s when we’re able to hit those underage guys that wouldn’t be able to see us any other place.

CRM - You mentioned new stuff you’re getting ready to put out, tell us about some of your previ-ous stuff.KILLAMORA - We put out our first cd in 2002, it was just a taste of what the band at the time had to offer. We’ve actually kept one song from that original CD that we’ve held on to and play live, that is “Confess”. We’ve rerecorded for the CD we have coming out, which will be called “ground breaker”. that first cd had 6 songs, then we put out a 4 song demo that had some real strong songs that really built the band up into something we felt really strong about. That one had “never surrender”, “bleed For Me” which was our opener to-night, “The Darkest of Shadows” as well as “process of elimina-tion.” After we put that out we’ve been really busy doing a lot of gigs and playing with many national acts that have come

through, and luckily we have had a great following that have been there for support. The club own-ers and the venues have been behind us cus they know we have a (crowd) draw. This new CD we’re putting out, we’ve had music that has basically been ready and we’ve played at shows for over a year already. Due to us being real busy and raising mon-ey for the CD, we haven’t had the opportunity to record the right way with the right person behind the knobs until now. I’m the one holding us back right now. These guys have already done their job and recorded what they had to. I have three more songs to record and before the end of July and we should have the whole CD mixed and mastered. All we have to do is get the package together and get it out to the public to sell to you guys.

CRM - Sweet. Now, tonight, I don’t know how many new songs you played but one of them sounded pretty politically charged, tell us about that and other songs.KILLAMORA - Yeah! Well, I’m re-ally interested in politics today because I feel our government has taken us for granted and constantly lied to us,taken us for fools and treated us like we’re stupid. I think that is the new way for them to control us, by keeping us scared and unedu-cated and I refuse to go about like that. We need to look into what our government is doing in our country today and wake up and take a stand every oppor-

tunity we can get. That’s what this song, “Obamanation”, is about, it covers the different radical changes Obama has been making with our govern-ment over the past two years. Cutting down our funds to our space projects, he’s basically got our soldiers hands tied be-cause of rules of engagement whether in Afghanistan or Iraq. It’s bullshit that these guys can’t fight and protect them-selves against guys that are firing at them without first veri-fying that it’s not civilians they are going to fire upon. this oil crisis is another one of those plots to get us where he wants us. I just throw a little bit of that into our songs. I don’t write all about politics but when you feel strongly about anything it comes out like that.

CRM - What plans do you have after your CD release?KILLAMORA - We want to do this right. It’s not going to be a demo but a full representation of what we are about and what we are made of. With the excep-tion of David, we all created the music on this CD. We’ve written about four other songs that are not on the CD but those on the CD needed to be put out, they are the ones we’ve had under our belt, they deserve to get out. We want to get it out to in-dependent and major labels to see what kind of response we get back from them. We want to put some touring behind it as well, not just Texas but try

I was able to catch the guys in Killamora after their gig at Zero’s Hard Rock Club in Corpus Christi this past June when they played with Sewn Shut and Texas Hate Machine. Be sure to catch these guys in the next few month as they will be re-leasing a new CD as well as getting their name out there with more shows with touring bands, as well as other local acts.

and get ourself spread out as much as possible. We do have obligations in this town but we’re willing to make sacrifices to get us to be where we need to be so we can give ourselves a chance and op-portunity to be recognized and to repre-sent Corpus.CRM - Tell us about some of the shows you guys have played.KILLAMORA - One of the shows that always comes to mind is the one we played with BLEEDING THROUGH about a year and a half or two years ago. That place was packed and as hot as it was that night we had to give eve-rything we had to finish that 45 minute set. Afterward I got a chance to talk with the guys in BLEEDING THROUGH and they said they were hurting as well, they said they had to cut their set short be-cause it was so hot, but it was amaz-

ing. The other gigs that come to mind are the Concrete Street gigs. We were able to deliver to a crowd of people that hadn’t had a chance to hear us, Sounds of the Underground was great.

CRM - Any bad shows to mention?KILLAMORA - I guess the bad ones are the ones where we have bad sound. One of the ones that comes to mind is the one show with DEICIDE in Laredo. We drove all the way down there and we hear that Glenn doesn’t want any local bands to open, it was one of those he said this/he said that type thing. Of course we were pissed off, then Glenn comes up to us and asks what wrong. We tell him and he said the promoter already knew about this, and it was no surprise since it was in the rider. Needless to say we weren’t

able to play the gig. Glenn ended up hanging out and chillin, drinking a cou-ple of beers with us. He’s good people, we’ve played with them before down here in Corpus. I guess it was meant to be for us to stay out of the hot seat cus we took off before the show began cus we were not going to make the trip at two in the morning if we didn’t get a chance to play. We found out the very next day on Blabbermouth that SWAT team had to come in and the place got raided cus the shit got out of hand. People started assaulting the security, there was vandalism going on outside, etc. With our luck, if we stayed, we would have gotten our trucks fucked up or equipment stolen.

CRM - Anything you want to add?KILLAMORA - Watch out, we com-

ing!!! We want these other bands to take us seriously and the best way we can do that is going out there giving everything we have on every show. If your not our friend on MySpace hit us up and become our friend. Keep up with KILLAMORA, the CD should be done and out in two or three months. We wanna say hi to the KILLA-CREW - Baldi, Des, Dawg, everybody at Ex-treme Tattoo for all the support. Billy and Jennet for giving us a place to play and party with all our friends.

Check out Killamora at www.myspace.com/killamora. Email: [email protected], and for book-ing you can contact Tony Gomez at 361-446-1228, or Izzy Chapa at 361-543-1140.

CRM - First, tell us who you are and what you play.Joseph - I’m Joseph, I play guitar and lead vo-calist.Mark - I’m Mark and I’m the guitarist.Brad - I’m the drummer and we are MutationJoseph - He’s the highs in and I’m the lows when it comes to singing.

CRM - How long have you guys been together and where are you from?Joseph - These two dudes have been together for three of four years. Brad’s from Mathis and Mark’s from Orange Grove. I moved to Mathis around ‘08 and that’s when I found them out. It was these two and another guy, I didn’t come in till about two years ago.

CRM - You mentioned before about having an old singer right?Brad - We had an old bass player/singer.Joseph - Before I was the singer they had an old bassist that sung. He didn’t want to go out and practice on his own, just band practice, so he lagged behind on skills. He didn’t want to practice to get the songs better, so we let him go. Yeah, like me and Mark kept coming up with things to make it faster, more technical, etc.Brad - He was real narrow-minded, he wanted to be just straight up fast Thrash beat, he didn’t want to go more melodic on things.Joseph - He wanted to be more straight old

school CANNIBAL CORPSE. I mean, we like that shit but we wanted to be completely differ-ent. We wanted to be our own creation, that’s why we’re MUTATION, cus we take everything and put it together and come up with our own shit.

CRM - Yeah, when I saw you play earlier I no-ticed you guys had various styles in there, sometimes playing the same stuff over and over again, it gets..... - Old! Yeah!Joseph - It kind of gets boring. You here one band and you’re like ‘Oh, that sounds bad-ass’, then three or four songs into them it sounds the same. You’re like ‘Alright, are they done yet, is this the second song? No, it’s the sixth song. Shit it all sounds the same to me.’

CRM - Yeah, like you threw in a little bit of Span-ish in one song.Joseph - Yeah, when we made that song we wanted to incorporate some more of our heri-tage, more of us. Not us as individuals but more us as our heritage. The song was “Scriptures of Death and Destruction”. When you hear it your thinking of epiphanies, scriptures, Nostradamus speaking of predictions, visions of the end of the world. Song starts off Death Metal then Tech-nical then Flamenco, then Death again. It’s not just that song, with all the songs we try and go from Technical death to easy chill, then compli-cated, then back again. We don’t wanna be fo-

cused on one genre or group of people. Not just people into brutal Death Metal, we want people into Black Metal, Power Metal...Brad - People who are into music for music! Not just because they like Thrash or Black or Death. Someone who likes music in general.Joseph - People that have an open-mind.

CRM - Well that diversion kind of helped you guys open for CANNIBAL CORPSE right? You did a battle at House of Rock right?Joseph - When we went into it honestly thought we weren’t going to win this.Brad - Yeah, I thought we were going to lose because KILLAMORA has been around 8-10 years in the Corpus scene and everybody knows who they are. We ended up on top and that was a good experience in my life.Joseph - When we got there I was like ‘Ok, I hope we don’t play first and I hope we don’t play last.’ They ended up pulling the cards and we ended up playing last. Yet, they told everybody that everyone has to stay till the end of the night, so no matter what, no vot-ing goes on till the last band plays. So luckily we got last, so everyone that got there at 8 or 9 o’clock had to stay regardless to vote. As a matter of fact, LYING TO SICK CHILDREN, the vocalist Gore, he told all the people that were there to see them to vote for us. So a lot of it is because of them we won.

For the rest of the interview check out the video version at www.youtube.com/watch?v=y671IS3Gga4

...is a three piece brutal Technical Death Metal band out of Mathis, TX. We were able to catch the guys in the local bathroom (don’t ask) when they played with LYING TO SICK CHILDREN here in Victoria

this past April. They will be hitting the studio to record and will have something released soon after along with a tour with other Texas

bands. Be sure to check them out at www.myspace.com/mutation34

The guys were kind enough to sit down and do a quick interview with us. For the video interview check it out at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGGQoSTmyq0 Also, be sure to check out their page at www.myspace.com/xsendinthecavalry. NOT CALVARY folks!

CRM - Tell us abit about SITCCANYON - We’ve been a band for about a year and a half, I'm Canyon, I'm the singer.JEREMY - I'm Jeremy I play guitar.CHARLES - Charles, drumsHENRY - Henry, guitar.CANYON - We have about eight songs. We're starting on a new one now.CHARLES - All our songs are pretty much about being straight edge, being clean, not giving in to peer pressure, being yourself, and living your own life.CANYON - They’re not just random things that we put together, they do have meaning.JEREMY - Yeah, all of them have a good strong meaning.CANYON - Definitely. Yeah, they’re not lyrics that you have to dig deep into, there pretty blunt and something you can relate to you. We're not trying to hide the way we feel about it.JEREMY - Just straight and to the point.

CRM - You mentioned about having eight songs, any plans on recording?CHARLES - This Summer were probably go-ing to have about a six or seven song EP.CANYON - We're going to head over to San Antonio to the Looney Bin. We're trying. Right now were saving up some money.JEREMY - Yeah we're all working except for Canyon...CHARLES - Yeah, he's looking for work (laughs)

CRM - Tell us about your sound, influences and such.CHARLES - My influence is AUGUST

BURNS RED.JEREMY - Mine would have to be OF MICE & MEN.HENRY - I definitely like A DAY TO REMEM-BER, two-steppin stuff like that.CANYON - Mine’s more like the Southern Hardcore, like CABARET.HENRY - Now throw that in a blender...CANYON - ...and you got SEND IN THE CAVALRY

CRM - Tell us how the name SEND IN THE CAVALRY come about?(Everyone points to Charles)CHARLES - I thought of it in the shower. It's like a cavalry, a big movement, like we're coming for ya.HENRY - A straight-edge movement.CHARLES - A lot of my ideas come to me like at work when I'm bagging ice or when I'm in the shower.CRM - Your best ideas come when your around water....CHARLES - YeahJEREMY - Yeah, Charles' best ideas come when he is wet! (laughs)CANYON - Yeah, he likes it wet! (laughs)

CRM - Tell us about the Port Lavaca scene.JEREMY - It use to be fairly big but then it just died away. It pretty much slowed down.CANYON - Yeah, it had its highs then its downfall.

CRM - Yeah for a moment you guys had a bigger scene than in Victoria.CANYON - Yeah, it was big

CHARLES - yeah, it was one show right after another.JEREMY - I think it was that there were shows almost every weekend with the same bands and it kind of got old.CHARLES - People got older, got jobs, start-ed leaving, going to college.

CRM - Tell us some more about your lyrical content.CANYON - Well its basically about battles within yourself. A lot of our lyrics come from what we see in humanity as a whole. We see people that are hooked on drugs and pass that off as cool.CHARLES - Yeah, in school we had so many friends that was doing this and doing that, and we didn't do it, so no one wanted to hang out with us. We lost a lot of friends because of that and our music is part of that.CANYON - Another big thing is that people may mistaken us, because we're straight edge we automatically hate everybody that does drugs. That's totally not it. You live your own life and make your own path. We can't sit here and worry about other people’s lives. We've pledged this, this is the path we de-cided to take. Another big thing is that they think we want to fight because it's known that straight edge kids have a lot of built up hate and anger. It's not like that. We have friends that do drugs but we dont care.

CRM - And for bands, people that listen to them, it rubs off on them, that inspiration.CANYON - It's a good life, if we had our way the whole world would be straight edge! You see life in a completely different way sober.CRM - It's that moment of clarity.CRM - You mentioned about recording in San Antonio in the Summer, tell us about that.HENRY - We have some friends in another band that recorded there and it sounded awesome.CANYON - Yeah, I wanna take time out to

“It’s a good life, if we had our way the whole world would be straight edge!

You see life in a completely different way sober.”

Tell uS aBouT TexaS HaTe MaCHIne.THM - We've been together, with this current line-up, for about a year and a half. The band’s been going on since '05. wHaT KInD of planS Do you Have followIng THe ReleaSe?THM - We do have some labels interested in us now that we can't name. We got people that want to put us on tour but that takes money, so we got to take things within reason right now. It's going to take alot to build up to that point.

Tell uS aBouT THe CoR-puS SCene.THM - Lots of talent in this city. When it comes together it's a great time. A lot of differ-ent scenes out there, the old school is out there and the new scene is brutal as hell. When-ever the bands communicate with each other it ends up be-ing a good show. It's good to see the scene out there coming together. Good to see the old-schoolers still pumping it out as well as the new bands out there. Be sure to check out new material com-ing very soon and come check us out in Corpus or anywhere we play!

wHaT aRe youR fuTuRe planS foR TexaS HaTe MaCHIne?THM - Just keep it moving and progress. Anything other then that is just a weekend gig!

SEWN SHUT, an-other brutal band outta Corpus Christi, is gearing up to release their debut CD. I had a chance to sit down with Sewn Shut and ask them a few questions... check it out!

How long HaS Sewn SHuT Been TogeTHeR?SS - We started in '99 and we didn't start playing shows till 2000. We had the original line-up for like four years, me (OJ) and Moses, the other guitar player, are the original members, then Frank came in on '04. Since then we were trying to get other mem-bers but just like with everything, attitudes come and go, and it sucks. We get our hopes up, try and remain positive and keep going. Then we found Adam (gui-tar) and he came with his brother (bass) and it is working out great. When we didnt have a complete band it didn't look good on our part when we played shows, you know, just a singer, guitar play and drummer. Now, things are working great.

wHo aRe SoMe of youR In-fluenCeS?SS - Our influences range from old school like Rush, Queen-sryche, Motley Crue, Anthrax, the Thrash that was real pivotal to Metal, like Megadeth, Testa-ment, Exodus coming up to the much younger, newer stuff.

wHaT IS upCoMIng foR Sewn SHuT?SS - We have an album coming out, we started it a couple months back. It's been a slow process cus our schedule hasn't been on par with the engineer. The down-fall of it is that Adam and won't be on there. He will be on the picture though! All the guitar work and bass is Moses. The thing is, the music we play now, with these two guys is totally different, we

were used hearing it one way and now we hear it another way and we're like, damn, makes us want to go back in and record again, but time and money! The sound is so much deeper. As for the album, the album should be finished up and ready in a month or two. But having these two guys in it now it motivates us to write and do more stuff.

wHaT planS Do you Have afTeR THe ReleaSe?SS - We want to build a fan base, do some regional shows. Grow like spilled water, slowly spread-ing out more and more. Our home base is Corpus, we've played out in the Valley, San Antonio, Victo-ria. We wanna play them places again and grow out more and more. If we can get out constantly, especially Summer and Fall of this year, will be great. Anything that gets us to put our music out there more and more.

IS THeRe anyTHIng elSe you woulD lIKe To Men-TIon?SS - For anyone out there, look us up! We’re on MySpace at www.myspace.com/sewnshut. Once we get the CD finished and out everything will be revamped and we’ll start with a new slate. New music should be up soon!OJ - I'd like to give a shout-out to my family in Victoria, the Rosales' - Andy, Loisa, Tony and Tommy!!!

Look for Sewn Shut to be playing a monster set with Killamora and Texas Hate Machine in late Octo-ber in their hometown of Corpus Christi. This is gonna be a killer show you don’t want to miss!

Haven’t heard Sewn Shut yet? Go to www.myspace.com/sewnshut and check them out! For booking, Adam Delgado (guitar)-361-728-5080, Fer-nando (vocals)-361-227-0192.

Frames” was released this past June, which is critically said to be more aggressive than the prior albums. “Bro-ken Frames” has taken the band to a different stage of musical growth. “We’ve been playing about three or four new songs on this tour,” said Alexia, “and a bunch of people are already singing all the words, it pretty cool to see.”Although “Broken Frames” has been accepted by most fans, some still aren’t adapt-ing well to the change.“Obviously, the band’s not gonna be the same band as it was when it released its first album. It’s all about growth.”In case you missed out on seeing the band on this year’s Vans Warped Tour be sure to check them out this fall on the Ghostbusters Tour with I wrestled a bear once, Chelsea Grin, The Chariot, VannaUntil then, check them out at myspace.com/eyessettokill or twitter.com/eyessettokill

Eyes Set to Kill, the melody driven post-hardcore five piece band from Arizona, was formed in 2004 by sisters, rhythm and bass guitarist, Alexia and An-issa Rodriguez. The other mem-bers include: Caleb Clifton on drums, Greg Kerwin the lead guitarist, and Cisko Miranda on screams and keys. The present line-up of member has been in place for about seven months now, and this quintet has seen its fair share of members. Since their start in 2004, Eyes Set to Kill has had nearly 10 members have come and go. “When we first started there were a bunch of people who just couldn’t han-dle touring and being away from home,” said lead singer Alexia who feels that being in a band isn’t for everyone. In 2008 they released “Reach” that became a top seller in Hot Topic stores all around; howev-er, the bands defining moment came in 2009 with the release of “The World Outside” getting them critical recognition across the country. The band has been featured on the cover USA To-day, Alternative Press Maga-zine’s “100 Bands You Need To Know”, and they even hosted an episode of MTV’s Headbangers Ball. And this past summer was their first time doing the entire Vans Warped Tour.Their latest album “Broken

CRM: So, Warped Tour just started, hows it been going for you?bc: smooth, this year, real smooth. So many friends, we’re just kicking it, got the vibe tribe hanging out, its been nothing but family this year.

crm: is this your first time (on Warped Tour)?bc: second time, actually.

CRM: How would you see the difference in the first one and this one, even though this one just started?bc: i think we’re mingling a lot more, I mean like we made tons of friends last year. The advantages of Warped tour is meeting all kinds of new friends, people just like you. We all play different kinds of music yeah, at the end of the night were just hanging out partying and kicking it. being able to do this a second time, its like watching a movie for the second time, you know what to expect a little bit more so your way more prepared for what’s coming. It nothing but perfect right now.

CRM: Awesome, how did you get hooked up being on the Warped tour?bc: right when it ended last year we got an offer to do the next one, we were like so, so stoked. We must have done something right that year, big shout out to Kevin L! He’s built an amazing world here.

CRM: Sweet, both of you are the backbone to breathe caroline, yet you have other musicians, mention a little bit who those guys are.bc: stage guys… our drummer Eric, I’ve actually known forev-er, me and him were in a band back at home, I played guitar, he played drums. He started as our DJ and he moved to drums, he’s been our homie forever. Our friend Louis, he plays all of our DJ stuff, also a friend from back home a long time ago. Our friend Josh who plays Keytar with us, he does a project called the Spin Cycle back in Colorado and when we first started play-ing shows, he played our first shows. We bonded right away. We were like “Yeah, you want to like come on tour with us?” and

he was like “Yeah, so, cool.” We have our boy Shady, he’s our TM, sickest guy ever. We were leav-ing for this tour and David told him he could roll with us and we didn’t think he was going to show up then he showed up, did merch for us for a tour and after that he was our tour manager, been with us ever since. Colton’s been our tech guy. Colton’s in-sane, he’s known David since he was born, like families, or best friends, like, he went and hung out in Vegas for David’s twenty first birthday, we were living in California recording our new re-cord, we drove out, met David’s mom and dad and Colton’s mom and dad and got crazy with them, so they’ve been friends forever, our boy Tacey, played in a band with him a little bit, he played in a band with Louis and Eric, he’s the sickest kid ever, he does mer-ch for us, super chiller, our boy John, he does merch for us right now, super chill guy, he’s been friends with shady forever, our boy Tyler’s from Atlanta, actu-ally met him through our sound guy and he was turned onto this band, “i, rival” and he was do-ing sound for us and them and,

“Dude if you can do sound for us we’d love that. He’s been with us ever since then too. Its not just David and I, it’s a family.

CRM: I would guess that you’re on a tour bus?bc: Yeah, for Warped tour you kind of have to. 110 degree heat sometimes and there’s nowhere to go, you’re going to end up paying for gas and paying for ho-tels anyways, you’re just paying for it to be your ride anywayCRM: It worksbc: it’s really fun. We usually tour in a van and trailer when we go on normal tours and stuff.

CRM: Now your music is a com-bination of techno, dance, pop, Emo, Screamo, etc.bc: Yeah man.

CRM: How would you best de-scribe your music to someone who’s never heard it before?bc: it’s just an experiment man, were not trying to be anything, you know what I mean. Friends hanging out, making music. You know what I mean?

Talking with Breathe Carolina, a Denver, Co. Electronic Rock band composed of Kyle Evans and David Schmitt. The hyperactive duo Shared their impressions of the Warped Tour, their online co-

conspirators, their past band and the future given the impressive response to their myspace tracks, which have collectively been

hit over 30 million times. It was hard to keep them on track but by interviews end there wasn’t a detail about them to leave out!

CRM: That’s what it’s all about.BC: I mean that is it, having fun. Just trying to build a vibe, create a vibe.

CRM: you’re on Fearless now, and you were on Rise Records before that, Rise was just a one album deal?BC: One album went out, Craig’s awesome…

CRM: how’s Fearless working out?BC: Good. Awesome. They push us hard, I mean, that what we need.

CRM: you guys exploded over-night, especially when you put your music on myspace!BC: Thanks!

CRM: The hits are going up almost everyday, what’s the essence to your quick rise?BC: I don’t know, I think we just kind of put ourselves out there and we were, like for me I was in a band I was kind of doing stuff that like I didn’t necessarily dislike

but I wasn’t 100% into, and so this for us, we’re so into it dude. Do-ing whatever we want to do and I think just being true to ourselves proved the point, we were just like, “Hell Yeah – this is where its going down” so finally were doing exactly what we want to do.

CRM: Now the name, Dave had a dream about a woman, tell us a little about that.BC: I don’t know, its weird man, I was in ninth grade or so, I had this dream of an old lady named Caro-lina, she was living my life, its kind of hard to explain, for some reason it stuck with me all throughout high school, we started this right when I got out of high school. I always had that name that whole time, I didn’t really try to use it but I brought it up to my other band mates and they were like, “Whatever”

CRM: to me, whenever I read that, it sounded to me like a little reincar-nation. Past lifetime stuff.BC: YEAH!

CRM: You guys were in the UK ear-lier this year. Who were you guys with, and how was that experience?BC: Awe, dude, we were with this band called FACT, their from Ja-pan, their the sickest, before we were with a band called Me Vs Hero and Lfe and Sounds, so sick dude. Amazing friends, so stoked that I got to meet them. We got to go to Amsterdam. I love it there in Amsterdam.

CRM: You’re going to be releasing a deluxe edition in a few days.BC: it’s an iTunes only release but it has like 7 or 8 new tracks, there’s remixes, there’s old tracks, new tracks, was actually going to have a song on Punk is Pop 3; we have to wait for that. Yeah man, just some-thing fun, kind of to bring people that maybe didn’t know about our past and kind of show them where we came from and then some em like the future of our idea, of this band, you know what I mean?

CRM: I see you have ‘Blush’ sweat-

er on, that’s like your clothing line? Plug that a little bit.BC: Me and Kyle kind of had this idea even before Breathe Carolina almost, about Blush about what were going to do with the clothing company and were going to do something with it. Our boy Josh who runs Umbrella Clothing was like, “I’m going to help you guys out with this”, I was like “yeah man, we don’t really know how to do this” so we kind of joined in and collabed and just kind of created this little thing just for fun you know what I mean? And like, it’s not like our main priority or anything like that; it’s just something to do.

CRM: tell us anything else about Breathe Carolina that wasn’t said?BC: We just like to hang out, pretty much. Come to any show, say what up! That’s about it. Keep supporting the music. Its what helps me live, Keep It Bumpin!Catch them nov. 23 & 24 in San antonio and Houston. Check concert listings page for venues.

If you’re looking forward to hearing something dif-ferent than the traditional hardcore jams hitting the music scene these days, open up your eyes and ears and prepare for In Fear and Faith. Although the band has had its name since 2005, the bands cur-rent line-up has only been around for a little under three years. The band consists of: Cody Ander-son and Scott Barnes on

vocals, Ramin Niroomand on lead guitar, keys and programming, Mehdi Niroomand on drums, and Noah Slifka on guitar. The “classy hardcore” band from California takes pride in provid-ing a positive image through their music, and are often mistaken has Christian band. “A lot of people think that because of our name” bet they set the record straight saying they’re just a bunch of non denominational dudes who enjoy playing msuic. As for In Fear and Faith, the band’s name came from a Circa Survive song. The band had its first experience this summer with Vans Warped Tour. “Warped tour is insane.” Said Ramin, “anyone who has ever been in a band -- their biggest dream is to do warped tour.” However, before battling the brutal Vans Warped tour the band tour overseas in Europe with Dance Gavin Dance where they encountered sold out shows, adoring fans, and a great variety of cultural foods. Also prior to Warped Tour the band released their second full length album “Imperial.” They say on this album, “We do every-thing we can to pursue an epic sound.” The response to the new

release been extremely well, “a lot of people are noticing that we did exactly what we were attempting to do.” In Fear and Faith balances out their newer heavier sounding parts with the slightly more catchy melodies that all together create a sound that fans and critics alike can appreciate. This fall the band heads out on the “Band of Brothers Tour” with We Came As Romans, Confide, Upon a Burning Body, Abandon All Ships and the “This is Family Tour” touring with Attack Attack, Emmure, Pierce The Veil, Of Mice & Men.For more about In Fear and Faith visit them at www.myspace.com/infearandfaith and twitter.com/INFAF.Listen to the full audio Q & A Interview at www.crossroadsmusic-mag.com, where Ramin talks more about Warped Tour, the posi-tive kids of the generation, touring overseas and so much more.Be sure to check out IN FEAR AND FAITH with tour dates in Corpus Christi on September 13th and early December is San Antonio and Houston. CRM - First off you guys have a few dates left on this “Cool Tour”, how have things been going with it?Beau - You know, can’t really ask for more. All the bands are great bands to listen to. We’re having a blast.

CRM - Have any crazy things hap-pened?Beau - We all kind of mess with each other. Like Acacia Strain, their our buddies, but they will make fun of us and be on stage telling the crowd, “We’re not pretty, we don’t have straight hair. If you want a bunch of pretty boys with straight hair, Blessthefall is up next.” T h e n I’ll be up say-i n g , “Sor ry, A c a c i a Strain is too old and bald to grow their hair out.” You k n o w , a n t i c t s like that.

CRM - I was read-ing that you guys went jet skiing for the first time a few days back...Beau - That was insane man! I seri-ously need to buy a jet ski now. It’s so unreal the feeling of going full throttle in the ocean or lake. I can’t wait to do it again.CRm - Yeah, you just gotta be care-ful. I knew a guy that got his foot cut off on a jet ski. They just got in the lake, took off. A boat came around and the first guy out hit the wake, then the second guy hit the wake, came right down and cut off his foot. The guys in the boat saw what happened, went back around to help, lifted the guy out of the water

and that’s when he realized his foot was cut off.Beau - Crazy. Yeah, I’ll keep that in mind.

CRM - I know you came on after the band got together, but want to mention about the name, Blessthe-fall, which has a spiritual, esoteric meaning, like the fall of man or mankind. How would you describe your music in that context?Beau - You know, we’re a very positive and uplifting band, talking about getting through the tough times, if you know what I mean.

All of our songs are from real life experienc-es. There’s obviously songs, like “To Hell and Back” that show that we have some anger, some fire inside of us, which showed how, at that time in our life, we were bummed out and down in our lives.

CRM _ Talking about “To Hell and Back” you guys just released the video for it. Tell us about that.Beau - It was the first time I did an idea for a video, I wrote the lyr-ics and I had this idea as well for the video. It’s about a girl that has these three vices in her life. One is like spousal abuse, another is an

eating disorder and the last is drug abuse. I think those three things a lot of kids go through. Bad rela-tionships where they are getting abused by their partner and they’re too scared to say anything about it. Then theres kids going through drug problems and eating disor-ders, a lot of kids think they have to fit a perfect mold. The video is about this girl getting past all that, leaving it all behind, and starting over.

CRM - Even when I was growing up, everybody went through prob-

lems, through something....Beau - Yes, there’s some-thing. Every-one has an is-sue, everyone has problems. It’s the way you handle your problems and the way you figure it out.

CRM - ..and bands that have a p o s i t i v e m e s s a g e , people can relate to.Beau - I think it’s

very important to not tell these ficti-tious stories and be more real and connect with people at a deeper level.

CRM - After this tour you guys are heading to South America and Eu-rope, tell us about that.Beau - Yeah, we’ve been to S. America and Europe already, so to go back is very special for us. A lot of great fans from all over the world, which we’re very lucky to have. I love South America, I’m half Mexican, so I go down there and speak a little bit of my Spanish, which I think the kids appreciate.

CRM - You probably know more than I do.Beau - (laughs) I was raised in east LA, in the Mexican ghetto!

CRM - And you guys will be coming back to the States after that....Beau - Yeah, we’re going to be heading out with Atreyu and some other bands I can’t mention. But it’s going to be sick!

(NOTE: BLESSTHEFALL, ATREYU, CHIODOS, ARCHI-TECTS, and ENDLESS HALLWAY hit up San Antonio Nov. 23rd.)

CRM - I also read that you guys like ghost hunting!Beau - Yeah. We’re fans of the su-pernatural. We were at this place in Milwakee. Apparently this kid died back in the 40’s or 50’s and this kid’s ghost haunts the base-ment. We all snuck down into the boiler room, it’s one of the creepist places I’ve been, but we didn’t see anything.

CRM - Have you had any type of experience?Beau - Ummm, not really, and I think that is what I am looking for. I believe in spirits, in ghosts and such.

CRM - Your last album came out about a year ago, what plans do you have for your next album?Beau - Yeah, it came out last Oct, so it’s almost a year. We already started writing stuff. I had ten or twelve ideas in my old phone but it got wiped out. But I always have different ideas in my notes section in my phone. I think we’re going to get back in there April or May.

CRM - Anything else you want to add?Beau - Anyone that hasn’t picked up our album, please pick it up. We love every one of our fans and we’re very stoked to be in this po-sition that we’re in, be in this good spot and moving up, aways looking up.

Also check out the audio version of the interview located at www.cross-roadsmusicmag.com - Beau also throws a shoutout to my daughter Isis at the end of the interview. Be sure to check them out at www.btfonline.org, www.myspace.com/blessthefall, www.twitter.com/blessthefall and all the usual sites for more.

CRM - First, thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. let's first get into the incep-tion of Insecticide. You guys have been around since the 80's, give us a brief history of getting together and who's who in the band.I - No problem... Well, Sherman and I were going to a lot of shows back in the day and we were very into Venom and Celtic Frost at the time... so we started the band in 1986 or so..Sherman and I are still here, Alex joined us in 2006.

CRM - How did the name ‘Insecticide’ come about?I - When it comes to names I think it is a brand that you need to have. If I could have no name it would be better, however it is what it is. I just wanted as dumb a name as Metallica has. Come on Metal-lica?? We could have called it Steel something or Metal something but here we are...

CRM - Some of the band members have been in other bands as well, tell us about that.I - Insecticide played a lot in the 80's and between drummers, Sherman went to Hirax when Katon left the band...I believe it was Scott and Eric Brecht at the time...I played in Beowulf in 2004/2005 we had a total of 3 drummers in Insecticide Shawn Hill, RIP and Rich Rowen (Beowulf) and now of course now we have Alex Ron.

crm - Who were your influences growing up?I - Well for me there are 2 types of influences. The first is music. It is clear for me that Iron Maiden, Saxon, Motorhead are my introductions to Metal. As far as my musical direction, when it comes to my writing style, it’s Slayer. One song that spoke to me, Chemical Warfare, floored me when I first heard it!!!

crm - i remember the first time i heard you guys when I was into cassette tape trading back in the day. You guys were doing tours on that demo. Who were some of the bands that you toured with then? how difficult was it to do that back then? I - We had 2 demos in the 80's. The first one was in ‘86. We recorded that one with an Iron Maiden type vocalist, then we decided it wasn't the sound we wanted so we threw Sherman on vocals. We played with a lot of bands too many to remember! Here is a cool thing...Dead Horse played our first show in Houston before anyone knew who they were...

CRM - What happened with the album you re-corded back then? It wasn’t released at the time, until a few years ago...I - After doing the THRASH ATTACK album on New Renaissance Records we were approached to re-cord the album from Ann Bolyn... there were a few problems between us and the label that I won’t go into.... Blower records released it for us in 2007 and that was very cool!!! It has since sold out, so I will do a repressing because a lot of people still are asking for a copy...

CRM - Insecticide is releasing a CD called "For a Dying World" this year. Who’s releasing it? I - The album is finished and we are deciding how to release it. Blower is passing on this one because they want to concentrate on new Mexican Metal releases so I will do it myself. We may just give it

away to anyone that emails us!

CRM - Inseciticide was in the midst of the whole bay area thrash scene back in the day. Tell us what you think about the scenes then and now, what do you see as the big-gest positive and negative of it all?I - We live in Southern California and we’re mostly into our scene, such as Slayer, Holy Ter-ror, etc. As for the Bay Area scene I was not into all the bands. I do like Exodus and there were a few bands we played with back in the day that I still have CD's from. I cant remember their names right now. When it comes to the new Thrash I really like Scythe from LA a lot. I think the new scene is kick ass!!!

CRM - As with the Thrash scene in general, what do you guys think of the new school Thrash bands that have popped up?I - I am grateful to all the new Thrash bands for restarting the FIRE!!!! I hope the thrashers stay true and keep MEGA THRASHING!! As I mentioned before I like Scythe a lot!

CRM - Insecticide will be trekking through Texas later this year. Who else will be play-ing and where will this tour take you?I - We are coming thru in October 22nd, 23rd, Houston and San Antonio will be the stops in Texas. We are playing 2 shows with HRA and PLF this will be 2 great nights of THRASH/CROSSOVER! I miss the crossover days!!!!

CRM - After your album release and touring, what will be the next step in Insecticide's future?I - There is no beginning, there is no end. We are writing the follow-up to "For a Dying World" now and it will be a thrasher!!!

CRM - Outside of the music and Insecticide what other things do you guys do to pass time?I - Sherman and I have a studio together and I have a business to run as well. Pretty much sucks the life right out of us!!

CRM - What are your thoughts on the music industry as a whole? For instance, the ease of the internet for bands, file sharing, and so on?I - The music industry is a business, so that means they make good and bad choices. I loved when the music business signed a bunch of Thrash bands back in the day and then said where is the ballad? Stay indie or release it yourself and keep your creative control!! I think the internet is a great way to get heard.

CRM - Thanks again for taking the time to do this! Anything about Insecticide that needs to be said?I - Were just a little ol band from California that wants to tour just to see old friends...

Be sure to catch Insecticide in october when they swing through Texas! If you haven’t heard them yet, go to www.myspace.com/insecticideband and www.insecticide.cide-show.com and check ‘em out!

CRM: What happened with the wreck?Nick: We do long drives and this is a nine man band package tour. It was like the fourth or fifth day.

We were driving late at night and sometimes you fall asleep at the wheel. You dip out. You try en-ergy drinks but they don’t work all the time. We crashed into a guard rail, thank God. Cause if not we would have flipped and that would have been the end of ABRB. Who knows, someone could have died. We thank God, higher power, what-ever you believe in. We thank him for keeping us around. Shit is scary man. If you have ever been in a van wreck… fuck that.

CRM: It brings perspective to real-ity.Nick: Yeah, touring bands are easy;

you get to play a show in every state and rock out. No man, you almost die, your hungry. It’s some bullshit. Back in 2006 ABRB almost went off a cliff in Oregon. So we’ve

come close to death a couple of times. Guardrail or no guardrail, off a mountain… it scares the shit out of you.

CRM: After being kind of absent for a long time and now being back, fans are really digging you guys being back. What releases are you working on?Nick: Well this gonna be funny. When been touring and Europe and Australia, but we’ve been absent for about a year and a half in the states. We’ve been writing this new record. And we’ve been hammering it. That’s why we had to take a year off, we were trying to get this new

As Blood Runs Black has had its fair share of band member’s retention. Their current line-up is bass player Nick, Dan on lead guitar, drummer Leche, and their new vocalist Sonic. Crossroad

Music caught up with the guys after the a year and a half hiatus...CRM: Now you guys have had quite a bit of line-up change. The newest being the vocalist...NICK: We’re like a family. All bands are like families. And fami-lies nowadays get divorced and have step brothers. It’s a family tree and it’s hard to stay band. We’ve been doing this for about five or six years. Not even signed, we’ve only been signed only four years. It’s hard! It’s harder than a rela-tionship; you gotta live with somebody, and sweat, blood and tears, and all that. Some people are built for the road some people aren’t. When it really counts I think we’ve got a good line up now. These new guys Dan and Sonic have been my boys of a long time. So we’ve got the family and we’re gonna come swinging.

CRM: How has this tour been going for you?Nick: Over The Limit Tour? [laughs] It has been over the limit in every sense of those words! We got in a van wreck a bunch of shit hap-pened. Touring is touring, different destination every night. It sucks but it’s beautiful at the end of the day. I get see sweet bands and meet sweet people. I get to rock out too. That’s what it’s about man.

record out. And with all these new member changes… we had almost everything done with our vocalist we had on this tour and he quit 8 days into it. So now we have my

boy Sonic. So now we have to go back and rerecord stuff. We’re almost done, be patient guys.

CRM: When do you plan on going into the studio?Nick: We have about a week and then we do Sum-mer Slaughter Mexico. We’re gonna climb right into the studio. It’s gonna be quick.

CRM: What label will it be released though?Nick: We’re still on Mediascare, small label doing big things. Check them out a bunch of good bands on that.

CRM - So how are things, is this what you guys do on your days off of Warped Tour? GREG - You know man, it seems that way but usually not. I try and do all this kind of stuff on show days but it’s impossible on Warped tour because you can’t schedule anything cus you never know what time your going to play. So the only guarantee slot you know you have to do anything is on your days off.

CRM - So all the bands don’t find out until that day what time they’re going to play? GREG - Yeah, you find out at 11 in the morning if your going to play at four in the afternoon or 7pm. We played at 11:55 yesterday morn-ing and I found out at 11:15. I got woken up by our tour manager. I would love it if they would do it a day in advance just once.

CRM - What’s the latest you guys have gone on? GREG - We’ve gone on last and gone on first. The last band that plays goes on relatively early, I think 7:30 and we’ve started at 11:55 in the morning.

CRM - I noticed that Warped tour ended pretty early in the evening. GREG - It’s a pretty impressive fes-tival in the way that they take ev-erything down and have everything set up in a different city almost nine hours away. They start tearing things down at 6:30 and by the time the last band ends they have the

place looking like a ghost town with everything torn down.

CRM - At the moment you guys are half way through this years Warped tour, how have things been going? GREG - Great man, every day we’re picking up steam. Right now we’re on the East Coast and the audiences are a bit heavier in our favor since we’re out from this way. At first it was a little tough espe-cially in getting into a groove each day since we played at different times. You really get used to play-ing at a certain time each day, like 10pm every night. Your body starts to evolve around needing a ton of energy at that time so I would start waking at a certain time, then when I would be off of a tour I would get an insane burst of energy every night at 10 or 11 cus I am so use to it. On the Warped Tour it’s such a crap-shoot, and you really never can get into a groove. That’s one of the hardest things to get use to this time.

CRM - Let’s get to the band, you guys have had an extensive career close to 15 years now, what would you say is the main factor to your long running success? GREG - We really never concern ourself with what’s been going on around us, even though that sounds extremely self-absorbed. Instead of trying to become part of the scene or become part of a trend, we’ve managed to carve out our own niche. As of now, The Dillinger Es-

cape Plan stands for a certain at-titude, stands for a certain style of music. It’s very easy to tell when someone is ripping us off. I think its because we’ve never cared or paid much attention to trends.

CRM - DEP have been together for close to 15 years but only have a handful of releases, with your lat-est, ‘Option Paralysis’. During each release, there has basically been at least one member change. GREG - Yeah, we’ve never record-ed an album with a consecutive same line up, crazy!

CRM - Yeah, how has Billy (drum-mer) been working out? He’s had some big shoes to fill... GREG - Billy is a freak show man! There’s not one single thing that’s not overwhelmingly positive to say about his contribution to the band. He came in and really injected, not just talent, but a ton of energy, and that’s important. Billy, when he came in, he had so much fire and so much exuberance, that it really came through in his playing and it pushed us creatively.

CRM - Didn’t Billy and Ben move in together and practice non-stop? GREG - Non-Stop! As soon as Billy joined the band he moved in with Ben and they treated it like they were 15 years old and jammed each day. We went from having practice days like normal bands on Tuesday or Thursday, to those two basically waking up, playing all day long, stopping to eat, going back and playing till the cops came to tell them to turn it down or the neighbors knocked on the door and told them to shut up. We ended up writing the record in the short-

est amount of time we ever did a record before. It’s also the most di-verse and well thought out record we’ve done.

CRM - You recorded ‘Option Paral-ysis’ back in Cali with Steve Evetts, as with the previous album. How was it going in this time around from the other one? GREG - Steve is almost a sixth member at this point. He’s the only person that has an interesting spectrum of having an inside ear even though he’s still an outsider as where he’s not in the band. And he also does all this other stuff in the meantime. It’s become a fun, creative relationship where we val-ue what he says. For me, as a sing-er, Steve is also a good vocalist. It was beneficial to bounce ideas off of him.

CRM - One of the most notable as-pects of Dillinger is the use of piano and the Jazzy feel incorporated. How did Mike Garson come in to help? GREG - This is one of the craziest days of the whole recording pro-cess. We meet him at a NINE INCH NAILS show in LA that we were asked to come out on stage and do a guest spot, do some songs with Trent. Trent also asked Mike too, who played on The Fragile, as well as playing with David Bowie and is an accomplished avant-garde Jazz pianist. Well, we met him back-stage and found out we had more in common with this 65 year old guy from the Jazz world in association with music. He has a really ‘punk’ attitude towards writing and creat-ing. It’s really refreshing to see a 65 year old that has more enthu-siasm than most 25 year olds. He

dillinger escape plan has been around for close to fifteen years. i was able to do a phone interview with singer greg puciato while they were on the Warped tour this past summer.

said if we needed anyone to play piano on the record he would. Now we already had the piano parts re-corded, but they were very minimal compared to what he ended up do-ing. He came in one day, he didn’t want to hear the song ahead of time because he’s so into improve. So he came in, heard the song, and told us to hit record, and he did it in two takes. It was one of the most incredible displays of virtuosity and on the spot creativity that I’ve ever seen. It was really inspiring to see someone that old still have that much to say.

CRM - I saw that Dimitri, the origi-nal vocalist, still contributes to the band with the album cover. Who approached who on this? GREG - Well, Dimitri also did Miss Machine and on this one we were down to the wire. We had a few people that were working on the cover but none of them were really doing the job. None of the guys in the band could agree on liking one over the other. We asked Dimitri with pretty much a week to go and he came out and nailed it. It’s hon-estly one of my favorite pieces of artwork that we have had done.

CRM - Yeah, and the art work goes with the title, ‘Option Paralysis’. How I see it is the freezing up of answers cus of too many choices out in the world. How do you see it in relation with what’s going on in the world? GREG - Everyone talks about how we’re in an economic recession but I see that we’re in a cultural recession. It’s like back when CGI came out, for years that’s all mov-ies were and I think for the next 10-15 years they took a hit cus there weren’t as good as the movies that came out before CGI. There was too much emphasis on the form

and not the substance and I think that’s what’s happening now. In our world, the music industry, ev-eryone is trying to squeeze a dollar out of anywhere they can. From a recording stand point anyone can sound anyway they want, and it’s sucking any of the life out of music out there. For me, on a personal level, I felt I was at a point in my life where I was stuck and needed to free myself from the situation I was in too.

CRM - On that, ‘being stuck’, when I talked with you in San An-tonio, you mentioned that relation-ships and breakups have been a focal point in shaping your music and lyrics. How do you feel it has shaped your outlook on life? GREG - It’s tough man. I definitely have burned down things in my personal life and have learned a lot from it and that always ends up being some sort of fire for creativ-ity in lyrics. At this moment in my life, I would rather find a way to make things work rather than see it go down hill.

CRM - To the band, you guys have done everything yourself, from re-cording, managing, releasing on your own label, etc. Do you find it more rewarding being in control of the growth and future of Dillinger? GREG - 100%! Not only from a financial stand point but also the creative aspect of the band. For us it’s a little tiring because we do ev-erything ourselves. It is rewarding and it lets us know that there is not one single thing out there behind the scene or in the foreground that has to do with The Dillinger Es-cape Plan that we weren’t involved with.

CRM - After this Warped Tour you’ll be hitting up a few places

like Russia.... GREG - Right, we will be going to Tel Aviv, Israel and Greece then go back to Russia. We’ve gone to all the main places so many times we want to hit up different places.

CRM - Then the United States next year right? GREG - Right. We’re going to go to Europe and all those places, that will take till Thanksgiving or so. Then we will break and in Jan-uary, February and March of next year we’re going to try and do the biggest North American tour that we have done in years.

CRM - So how did the PETA2, the anti-seal clubbing ad come about? GREG - We affiliate with PETA2 from time to time. I am aware of the controversy surrounding PETA, I’m not a vegetarian nor a vegan, we do have one vegetarian and one vegan in the band, but the one thing that is true is we all are ethi-cally and culturally aware. In my

opinion there is nothing wrong with using gasoline, eating meat, things these extremist say you shouldn’t do. You just have to be aware when you do these things. As for the seal clubbing thing, it was an easy thing we all could get behind.

CRM - Yeah, it’s about being con-sciously aware and basically bal-ancing reality out in your own life. GREG - That’s what it is man. People usually take a hard right stance or a hard left stance. People are either super capitalists, super communist. Super right or left. It’s more about being aware, like you said, of choices that you make and how they impact the larger world whether it’s through little things that you could do everyday or just sim-ply being aware of it so that you can do things with a clear conscience.

Having just got off their first suc-cess Warped Tour San Fransis-co Pop-Rock band HOPE FOR AM are having the time of their lives. Having said that this is the best and worst job to have, they’ve mostly had fun cher-ishing the moments of it, “It’s a once in a life time thing!” Having just released their five song EP “Pre-Game,” available through iTunes, HOPE FOR AM blends an aggressive Power Pop-Punk blend that, as they say, is “just really fun party music.” Asked about the band name itself, Cliff mentioned, “Everyday is a new

day, and a new day to push, a new day to fulfill our dreams and what we want to accomplish, and we don’t sleep, we like to have fun and stay out all night. So you gotta hope for the AM!”

Back in July Crossroad got a chance to catch up with go Ra-dio frontman, Jason lancaster, and discussed old band mem-bers, fearless Record, and the bands future plans.

Crossroads Music: First tell us a little history of Go Radio. How long has the band been together, and who’s who?Jason Lancaster: The band’s been together about 3 years now. I came home from my last band, and start-ed talking to my friends and people I was around. Obviously I didn’t wanna stop music so I came home and got together with people that I wanted to. Burns, our Bass player, and Steve, our drummer; we’re all original guys. We had another gui-tar player and it didn’t work out. So we got Alex. Alex is from Michigan, he came down and joined the band about a year ago and a half ago.

CRM: Alex took over Tony’s place. Was there any bad blood between that?JL: Oh no, man not at all. Tony was just ready to move on with his life. Things were moving I guess a bit slower than he was use to and ready to slow down to. He’s got a wonderful wife down in Miami, her names Lynn. They are awesome, we’ll actually see them in a couple of days. Tony’s a real great guy. Wish nothing but the best for them.

CRM: I was looking on twitter and saw Steven had a birthday yester-day, In Corpus? How was it?JL: Yeah! From what I remember of it, it was great! But like I said it was Steve’s birthday. It was a good crowd, about 500 people came out. We did a record night in merch on this tour. This is the first tour that we’ve been able to see a differ-ence in our draw since we released the record. The last one was with A Day to Remember, and it was 3000 [capacity] venues every night. It’s a little bit more low key on this one, and a bit more able to be more personable with the audience. Last night was great. We’d never been through Corpus Christi; I’d never

been there in my life. And there were a lot of people, like I said we did record numbers in merch. The entire night was just hanging out with all the fans, and all the friends we got. It was a really really great night.

CRM: You have two EP’s under your belt with the most recent ‘Do Overs and Second Chances’, which you recently put out under Fearless. First, how has the re-sponse been to the EP?JL: Absolutely amazing. This new EP, it was our freshman release with Fearless and it said a lot more about the band as a whole than t h e f i r s t E P d i d . I t ’ s b e e n really really w e l l taken. W e made a lot o f n e w f a n s a n d kept a lot of old ones. So I’m pretty ex-cited about it.

CRM: So how did Fearless come about? It was basically when you were with Mayday.JL: Fearless had kind of always been in the picture. If nothing else Bob Becker has always been guid-ance for me personally. He’s a great guy and really a sincere in-dividual. Fearless Records has al-ways been something in the back of our heads. He kind of wanted to take his time with it and we wanted to take our time with it. So we al-ways stayed in contact and stayed in touch with Fearless and that family over there, and when both side thought it was a good time we just kind of merged together and decided to go ahead and do it. Fearless and everybody over there, Joyce, and everyone, is just the most amazing people that you could possibly want to work with.

They are all really dedicated, and work insanely hard. They all be-lieve in every band that Fearless signs. The entire team likes and the entire team gets behind it. It’s probably the most supportive label I’ve ever had.

CRM: So why did you guys de-cide to do an EP rather than Full Length?JL: You know when first signed with Fearless we released Do over’s and Second Chances, it said a lot about the band than Welcome to Life did. For us it was kind of like “Ok, this is who we are now.” We figured out what we want to do and

we figured how we want to play this and what roll e v e r y b o d y wants to play in the go ra-dio gang. Hopefully it’ll e v e n t u a l l y become a movemen t . E v e r y o n e kind of es-t a b l i s h e d themselves and estab-lished their

parts. The EP was an obvious choice for us. We wanted to come out with something quick. To where we could say “hey, you know we’re alive, we’re kicking, it’s been a long time, but we are still here we’re still around, and were still striving and we’re still the starving Go Radio that we were when we release Wel-come to Life.” Fearless was good enough to get behind us on that and go” You know put out this EP, well get your full length worked out later, let’s just do this.” So that’s what we did. We went into the studio with Kenneth Mount and Zack Odom, which are two amazing guys, and released an EP that I think every-one involved is really proud of.

CRM: I read that you had quite a number of songs written prior to this. Will we see those songs on the next album?JL: I think they’ll be a lot of varia-tions of those songs. As a band

when we write, It’s always really “now” and “here” and “this is how I’m feeling right now” and “this is what I’m feeling right now” and “this is what’s going on with me right now”. So I don’t think we are gonna necessarily release songs we wrote when were in a different place, but kind of pull from those ideas and those emotions and fun-nel some of it into this record.

CRM: Now, you’re doing a little bit of touring for this EP and every-thing. After this tour you’re going into the studio to work the album actually.JL: Yeah we’re super excited about it. I’ve got probably 20 songs de-moed for it. We’re gonna do anoth-er 20 when we get home. It’s gonna be a lot of fun. We’re going in with Tim O’Hara, who has always been someone I looked up to. A great producer a great engineer, he’s got some amazing records under his belt. Six weeks in Brooklyn I can’t imagine of a better setting to hang out. We got a lot of friends and acquaintances up in New York it’s gonna be a really really fun thing to do.

CRM: And when do you plan on re-lease the LP?JL: I’m not exactly sure. Spring has been tossed around. It’ll definitely next year, bust spring has been said a couple of times. So we’ll see what happens.

CRM: And until that time what plans do you have? A lot more touring?JL: Oh yeah. We go out on the Fearless Friends Tour. Next fall its gonna be us, Artist vs Poet, Breathe Carolina, Every Avenue, and then Mayday Parade. Those are our Fall plans after we get out of the studio.

CRM: What can fans expect from Go Radio in the future?JL: Tour! This record, it’s gonna be a lot of fun, were gonna do that. We’re gonna get this record done. We’re gonna get a lot of miles un-der our belt.

With the playing field on unequal lev-els, between those with keyboards and those with laptops, the core of Texas Burgeoning underground Industrial scene par-ticipated in Austin Cy-b e r p u n k s & Artstrada M a g a z i n e 2010 Indus-trial Fest in Austin, Tex-as. Between 19 to 25 dif-ferent bands/p r o j e c t s /DJ’s and art m o v e m e n t s performed to an anthill of a crowd at the Encore club. I absolutely had to see who rep-resented Texas in Industrial music. Maybe I wanted to shmooze, maybe chat and collect others demos, maybe I want-ed to capture the half naked danc-ers who were cavorting everywhere that night. Maybe I wanted to join the festival in its next incarnation, who knows? When you think of Texas indus-trial bands, skatenings, bozo por-no circus skrew and the kidney thieves are of but a hand-ful to remem- be r, those groups had all had their time. Today was about the new breed. I wanted to see what Texas has and if they could promise to keep the flame alive…or the Xerox machine on fire…Early in the day, once arriving we walked in on art vs industry, a very modern inspired fusion of electronic elements and rock, a lot of main-stream appeal honestly. Very pol-ished and very active, lots of value added by their excellent vocalist also. Angels of Suicide were also very good, as was Bind.Torture.Kill, two similar Agro bands mounted by a stand-alone vocalist and his pro-

grammer. These two groups are very inspired by the likes of Suicide Com-mando, Combichrist, Kettle Cadavar – swarms of sequences and thudding

bass pulses through a wailing vocalist. These are examples of lap-top warriors – the new modern efficiency that negates keyboards and other heavy crap. The most cumbersome piece of gear these bands had was likely the keyboard stand it-self, but the intensity of their performance inspired me just as well. Later in the evening The Future Process played to a tangle of scantly clad women, camera men dog fighting through the front of the stage and a horde of men and women on-

lookers dressed to the nines.Outdoors we’d discovered Nemion; an Austin performance artist strapped into a multi tiered keyboard setup with filter boxes and pedals, accom-panied by to my dismay the ONLY

bass player featured in the entire festival, a vivacious player I could have easily taken for Bootsy Collins’ proté-gée – very funki-

fied. Later outside Akardia of El Paso

came out, the most visu-ally appealing band as to have pro-vided their own dancer and candle holder for the vocalist to cavort with and objectify (im sure it was all good natured, I don’t however know what he was saying as they are of the Spanish industrial scene and a real treat to hear as they draw interesting comparisons to a heavier Hocico.) af-ter it became dark Venom Vampires, playing their first ever show mounted the stage and put hard ebm beats to texture rich synths, they were very good. After a break in the excellently cold and quiet VIP lounge passing the Venom Vampires on their way off the stage after jamming out a badass

Front242 cover, we paused to par-take in herbal therapy before realizing Provision was onstage and the crowd drew in and reclustered as provision knocked VNV Nations whole future pop shtick on its ass and made a new hat out of it. They were without doubt a favorite of the night, very energetic and moved the crowd well. To say id rather watch P r o v i s i o n than, say, Assemblage 23; must say someth ing about Texas I n d u s t r i a l music. Also performing that night was a for-mer mem-ber of provision, now under the moni-ker of CTRL – Also a hard working performer and musician who carries his music, like Provision, with heart-felt authority and superb program-ming to match. Throughout the night several Dj’s spun, DJ Lina X, DJ Alien Tec, Dj Juxtatek, Dj Inferno and Dj Blue Eyed Devil. Also projected in the rear of the building were cyberpunk visuals and cg trip art, as well as fe-tish and S&M items in the concourse. Later outside, Virus Filter played their asses off, a very polished act, I dug the heavy involvement of both the vocalist and programmer. Sin D.N.A. came off excellent, very caustic and driving beat. I loved the vocalists de-livery. Sleep now, Yes were also ex-cellent, following in the Bile tradition of confrontational agro rock, the band itself had a personality all is own. ~ Nicholas Leur

Take everything that my friend Nic just said and consider that I couldn’t have said it better, therefore Im not going to go over all my opinions of the bands and shit but rather Im go-ing to give you an analysis of the show through the eyes of an industrial musician. That night was extremely impressive for several reasons: first off, the presence that was brought to each stage was extremely appreciate coming from local bands that arnt all quiet established. A lot of young ones in the bands didn’t have a grasp on the old school the way I myself pre-fer it (using club beats, not diversify-ing in drum technique etc. etc.) . but overall what they did come out with

was quiet good none the less. How-ever I do feel that I greta lot of them could really do something big if they open their minds and started to work outside the box. Another thing to me that I find extremely good and reliev-ing was that there were quiet a few texas bands playing industrial music, and that just fucking rules cause that tells me that this amazing scene that

I grew up with is still alive. Some of these groups such as Chant really blew me away in a big way because that man had old school roots and did it very well not to mention im-

pressed the hell out of me for sing-ing while playing extremely difficult drum beats, rolls etc. etc rolls and rudiments, etc etc. without missing a lick. All of those bands impressed me sincerely; some of those cats sent it over the top simply because they came from the old school and could do it right (no fucking club beats for drums). The cyber punx eliete danc-ers I must admit kept my attention quiet a bit more than some of the earlier bands, especially the ones that thought they could merge emo, hardcore, and industrial and proudly call it industrial… in all honesty, I must give mad credit to those danc-ers because they were not only beau-tiful but they danced very well to the electronic beats. If I could in the fu-ture, I would collect each one of those dancers and tour with Nic and Myself as our dancers. But enough of that. Provision I must say was excellent. As well as the venom vampires, killer

acts I must say. Truefully, theres not a single nega-tive thing I can say about any individual band from that night, in fact much love to all you guys and gals that played that day because not only did you inspire me, you

really did a great job showing that industrial is still kicking and hopefully with yalls help, pretty soon we can all hook up and make this scene come back to life ten fold. Great job all yall, and please continue on, don’t stop! ~ Dustin Etheridge

Teddy - Your band is all about the music and the fans.I also noticed you have a dedicated following on your myspace page as well as the CC music scene.Henry - That’s so true. We’re all about the music. We really get out there & promote ourselves & our music at clubs & concerts. I have the two song demo that I love to hand out to people when we’re promoting or at our shows. People really trip out & ask me.. “Is this for free”. Lol! I’m like. “Yeah!! It’s all yours, I hope you enjoy it!!”. They are so appreciative. Now, our friends from Myspace are some of closest & most loving friends ANY-ONE could EVER have. I’ve met with some of the nicest, interesting, sweetest, coolest, & best friends ever through Myspace. From around the states & the world. I feel very honored & privileged to have gotten to know & befriend everyone from here. I feel a strong connec-tion through my heart & soul with all my friends especially the ones I keep in close contact with... You know who you are!!!! lol.. I love you all!!!!!! You guys soooo rock!

Teddy - For someone who has never been to a Roughedge show, describe what it is like?Henry - A Roughedge concert. Hm-mmmmm lets see. Well it’s pretty loud & very much in your face. Good solid hard Rock-n-Roll set. There’s never a dull moment while we’re on stage. We REALLY enjoy making spectacles of ourselves. lol!! Oh and of course I send out a lotta love towards our audience just

like I do here on myspace. Good friends, good jams, good times, & a lotta love man.. That’s what it’s all about.

Teddy - At what age did you get your first guitar? What type of gui-tar was it and how much did it cost?Henry - I got my first guitar when I was 6 yrs old. I don’t remember the name of the guitar. It was a classical acoustic guitar. It was about $40 dollars. I got this guitar so young because I started playing guitar in church. I went to a Catholic school from kindergarten up to the sixth grade. All I was taught was the basic chords & how to strum with tempo. That’s all I needed to know. I remember, in between songs, me & my “Baby Head Banger Friends” would always get in trouble for try-ing to play some Kiss tunes or Thin Lizzy or some kind of rock. Hehe.. We were some dedicated rock-ers back then.. We still are to this day!! Yeah! I was 13yrs old when I bought my first electric guitar. I do remember the price. I bought it from my cousin for $60. It was a Univox Custom hollow body gui-tar. I mowed a lotta lawns for that thing. lol. I played the HELL out of it. Hehe!

Teddy - What is the song “Broken Life” about ?Henry - The song “Broken Life” is pretty much about almost all of the girls I’ve ever dated all wrapped in one 4 minute song, along with the messed up way of life I used to live. I’ve lived a very hard, rough & slea-zy, life. It comes out in my songs.

I believe that’s why Roughedge is in the category of “Sleaze Rock”. In my songs I never glorify street life, drugs, drinking or fighting or any-thing like that. I just tell it like it is & hope to connect with my listeners & friends. A lot of people have told me that the words to “Broken Life” really hit home hard & thank me for letting them know that they’re not alone. I was taught a lot of lessons from my past experiences & bad choices & came out of it alive and well. Nowadays I wanna tell the story of my life through my music.

Teddy - Who has influenced you musically?Henry - My musical influences are pretty numerous. I’m gonna have to start when I was just born. I come from a very musical background of aunts, uncles, cousins, & even my father is a musician. He used to play in a local rock band called “The Pharaohs” in the early 60’s. They rocked!! It all started with every-thing he & my mother listened to. A lot of Oldies Rock & R&B & Soul & Funk. All very old school like... Little Richard (Who I TOTALLY believe is

the true king of Rock&Roll), Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, Eddie Co-chran, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, The Everly Brothers, Shep & The Limelites, The Four Tops.. etc Then the harder 60’s rock like of course Janis Joplin (Who is the biggest musician influence in my life), The Who, The Stones, Beatles,.. etc also James Taylor, Carol King,.. etc. Also a huge fan of George Clinton, Sly & The Family Stone, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The Spinners,... etc.. Of course once I turned about 3yrs old, that’s when I really started getting into hard rock. My father said I stole my first album from the store at 3 years old. He was in the albums section checking out some stuff. Some how I grabbed a Led Zeppelin IV album & placed it between my back and the back rest of the shopping cart. He checked out in line and went to the car. When he picked me up he saw the album. He looked at the receipt & it wasn’t paid for. So like any rocker would do, he tossed it in the car & took off back home. So if anyone wants to call crime stoppers, there’s your thousand

bucks!! LMAO!!! We got home & he was gonna check out the album he had bought. He decided to play the album I stole. As soon as “Black Dog” started he said I went up to the speaker, put both my hands on it and started head banging away!! After the album finished he said I started crying. That was one thing, my parents said, that would always calm me down & keep me from crying. And the rest is history..... I am Very influenced by all 70’s hard rock & 80’hard rock, Glam Metal, Thrash, Hard Core Punk, & of course, Heavy Metal!!!

Teddy - Let’s continue to talk about your original tunes. The song “Sis-ter”.. It is a rock and roll music lovers dream! What is that song about?Henry - The song “Sister” is ac-tually a song that my last band “Trip” played. It’s the only song Roughedge plays that was co writ-ten by the bass player of “Trip”. In “Trip” we used all his lyrics. It sounds a lot different than the “Roughedge” version. Anyway, when I started Roughedge, out of all respect I called “Rhynestone” the bass player, & asked him if he wouldn’t mind me adding my life

stories into the lyrics and slice and dice the rest of his lyrics. He told me he had no problem with that. He wrote half the lyrics & I wrote the other half & all the music. Oh shit I forgot to tell you what the song’s about!! lol. It’s basically about sex. The name “Sister”, obviously isn’t about my sister or anything like that. That would be totally gross!! LMAO!! The word “Sister” relates to the girls who have come in and out of my life. Basically another song about my past girlfriends and the trials & tribulations of that certain past part of my life.

Teddy - Life stories many times make the best lyrics. Two of my fa-vorite lyricist were Kurt Cobain and Freddie Mercury.Henry - Freddie Mercury & Cobain we’re definitely two very great lyri-cists. They are missed.

Teddy - Will you have a album out soon? Are you recording right now?Henry - Yes. We are gonna have an album out soon. Actually it’s a 6 song EP. We’re recording 4 new tracks to add to “Broken Life” & “Sister” The EP will be called “Bro-ken” as listed on the bottom of the cover. Hope you guys enjoy it!!!!!!

Teddy - Sounds killer! I am sure your fans are ready to hear some new jams.Henry - Yes I’ve been asked about the new tunes a lot. We play them in concert. I hope you guys enjoy them. The names of the songs are “Breaking my Will”, “The Bottle”, “Down on Love”, & “No More”. An-other 4 songs about Henry’s life. hehe

Teddy - What do you think of the CC Music scene?Henry - I think the music scene is very much alive and well. A lot of great clubs & a lot of great acts. We hope to be the leaders in influenc-ing & inspiring more & more people to start an original hard rock band and get out there and show the city, the country, and the world their stuff. It all starts here in the Corpus Christi music scene. Let’s keep it alive!!!!

Teddy - I would like to thank Henry of Roughedge for taking the time to do the interview with Teddy’s Music page. Do you have any final words or comments for anyone reading the interview?Henry - Teddy it’s been a real plea-sure talking to you. I really appreci-

ate what you’re doing here with your great work on helping to keep the scene alive as well as all the help you’re giving Roughedge and other bands. I would also like to thank all our friends & fans who believe, support, and love us & our music. Every single one of you mean the world to me & the guys. That is no doubt. Sonny, Al, CJ, & I have banded together & came back onto the scene with one one special goal on our minds & in our hearts. We wanted to give our friends & fans the best possible hard Rock & Roll mu-

sic we can deliver. Along with our music, we dream of bringing as many people as we can together, to forget about all there problems & worries at least for the few hours they see our show or read about us or just listen to our music. To us, it’s not about the drugs, the alcohol, or the women that often come along with being in a rock band. It’s not about us at all. It’s about all of you out there. It’s about good friends, good times, a lotta love & music... It’s all about ROCK & ROLL man!!! Let’s keep it alive and well. KEEP YOU’RE HORNZ UP HIGH IN THE AIR!!! We love you all..Henry.

Southern XposureReviewing New CD Releases, Demos, Concerts and Beyond...

vAN CANTOTribe of Force (2010) Napalm Record

Sure to bring a smile to your face, a cappelia hero ‘metal’ band from Germany, Van Canto does what few do and forgot their gear. Five vocalists and a drummer make up the band, whose reputation for fascinating covers inked them an American deal with Napalm records recently. With lead vocalists Dennis Schunke and the angel voiced Inga Scharf, Rakkatakka vocalists Ste-fan Schmidt and Ross Thompson and Dandan vocalist Ingo Sterzing-er, Their music is like a metal bar-bershop group from hell. Turning what some do alone in their cars or standing at the ATM into an art form, the blend of traditional power vocals over staccato enunciations and odd rhythmic vocal drones puts most learned instrumentalists to shame. Their new album features 11 all new original songs and only two covers (Master of Puppets and Rebellion by Gravedigger, whose vocalist also makes a cameo!), less than their previous release “Hero”, and well balanced. Tho it would be hard not to put off Van Canto as a novelty like Apocalyptica was at the beginning of their career, with time Van Canto will entertain, confound and impress you as they have ab-

solutely no equipment to make music with except themselves, in-credibly impressive, entertaining and fresh. Look for a cameo on “Hearted” from Globe-trekking So-nata Arctica singer’ Tony Kakko.

JOEL ANTHONY ANd THE REvIvALwww.myspace.com/joel-anthonywilliamsonOne of the very best albums I have heard in awhile, and im not the per-son to come to about solo artists, as I would assume I would need to be familiar with what they had done previously and contrast it. The sing-er/song writer Joel Anthony has collected a diverse and appealing array of elements to bring his music to life, elements ranging from main-stream influences his vocal delivery and pop song structure stay true to, through outstanding finger picking acoustic touches, rock garnishes and massive ensembles of vibe. Positive, thoughtful, lyrics stand out between these incredible songs; his best moments are the albums quietest moments also. Joel Antho-ny shines as not only a standalone but as an accomplished bandlead-er. The performances are so in-volved and inspired, you’d wonder if someone slipped- a live cut onto the album by mistake and didn’t no-tice the aplomb of crowd approval. Definitely see him live and request this album.

AMMO FOR MY ARSENALThe dead Room demowww.myspace.com/af-matxNaturally, you dig Gems out of the ground, clustered around stone and compressed ancient detriments, this album was by my estimate self recorded, handed to me by Vocal-ist Randy Fernandez on a crowded street corner in Austin, stopping anyone and handing out fliers to their performance that night. They were affable and very friendly, will-ing to talk with anyone. The cd they handed me was bound in a self made cd sleeve of bleak, empty red clouds entitled the Dead Room

Demo. The reverse side spelt out all of their lyrics and a mass of thank you’s to those who inspired and drove them to succeed. The sound of their recording is by far one of the most polished sound-ing bands with passion enough to give it their all. Yes it’s a cd-r, no it didn’t have a 12,000 dollar record-ing budget, its perfect. It couldn’t improve in anyway except for the plastic case and availability to new fans. Its fierce guitars totally kill, the drumming first rate and completely in every pocket, and the vocalists exchange – emotionally channeled saint verses a fire breathing drag-on, incredible contrast. This kicks ass guys, keep going!

PROJECT PITCHFORkdream, Tiresias! (2010) Trisol

Germany’s 90s’ EBM forbearers’ Project Pitchfork, whose careers have taken them from relative ob-scurity to standing alongside the largest names in the European electronic industrial scene, re-leased their recent “Dream, Tire-sias” with accents and instrumen-tation I would have found familiar with their “Daimonion” Release al-most ten years ago. I’ll admit I was more a fan of their earliest record-ings, such as the widely influential K.N.K.A., and vocalist Peter Spilles sounds awfully rough these days too. And although I would have to be honest and point out that there is very little difference in their re-cent recordings to those earlier in the decade (possibly due to comfort with the digital workspace) the key-boards, pads and even the drums sound like their making a cameo

from somewhere else. The percus-sion work is diminutive and repeats a recycled club beat for more than half the album. The soft synths used sound very out of date, and isn’t very groundbreaking either. No live filtering, not many leads or pro-gressions, and absolutely no Guitar. Fuck. That isn’t cool. It seems like when a band gets a club hit they form a whole record around the sin-gles sound and vibe and that’s in-credibly evident here, where a large portion of the album could sound like a “Timekiller” rehash. But on that note, Die Krupps did drop in at the end of the disc to lend a hand to their single, “Feel” but not much is discernible there either, usually due to Die Krupps inventive use of guitar to spice up their peers’ more electronic oriented tracks – which is absent also. Standout tracks in-clude, “An End”, “Your God” and “Passion”. This album sucks large-ly, but watch out for the U.S. tour very soon.

ECHELON HIGH dEMOwww.myspace.com/ech-elonhighTexas Own Echelon High is pro-grammed played and sung by An-drew Kelly with accompaniment from Guitar player Stark Morrison. The songs featured on their Five song debut recording, yet un-signed, are a strong mid-nineties inspired industrial rock cornuco-pia with punching basslines and surprisingly very well delivered vocals, incessantly hell-bent key-boards and dark sequences veer-ing in and out of the songs accent-ing the atmosphere that makes Echelon High stand out amongst their peers, the sensation of being uplifted by jamming these tracks might draw answers to the name, the music is uplifting and not down-right lost in a mental dwelling of in-trospection at all, as most industrial can be. Very upbeat, very cool. The band is actively playing to growing audiences, so if your near the prec-ipice of north texas and you catch a flier for them playing somewhere it would be worth the time to appreci-ate their sound and determination.

called Every Creation here in Victo-ria. I remember the band because the first time I heard them they didnt have a vocalist and was intrigued with the musicianship these guys had. Their music went into various genres and feelings that I thought any type of vocals could comple-ment the music. Now, the Starrak brothers are back with their very own brand of Psychedelic Electron-ic Ambient Rock. Really good style and deliverence in the way each song gives the listener a very relax-ing, chilled out feel. Whether its the opening Electronic Shoegaze feel of “Leaves Like Eyes” and the sud-dle and serene feel of “Moon Wa-ters”, or the harder-edged “Steppin Razors” which borders on the ‘rock’ side of Ambient-Rock, there should be something for anyone into mind-expanding music. I enjoy this style of music due to the fact it’s ‘ w o n d e r i n g ’ music. Your mind gets to take a trip into o ther -wor ld ly thought and i m - a g e s . Nothing is s t ag -nan t , e v -e r y thing is con-s t a n t . “Agni” has a bit of m y s - t i -c i s m i n i t en-folds, start-i n g o u t c o s m i c a n d tribal but melts into an electronic space trance oddyssy. “Tyro” brings about the feeling of creation. The birth and journey of ones own self. Ha, I’m enjoying this music. The last track, “The Night of the Coil” is a more moody piece. One of the more am-bient pieces here towards the sec-ond half or the song while the first part had that ambience but their was a darker element in it. Strange but none the less interesting to say the least. Over all having these images laying in the background gives me a brighter outlook on the music scenes these days. Be sure to check out their tracks at http://levity.bandcamp.com and give them a few minutes of your time. You will enjoy it.

SvARTSOT“Mulmets viser” 2010(Napalm Rec.)You know, Im not even close to being of Nordic decent, hell my

ancestors are bean making, tor-tilla rolling folks that make a mean Menudo but for some reason, I love Pagan Folk Metal in the line of flute playing bezerkers that get down on the Metal from the cold north. This is the first time Ive heard Svart-sot and I must say Im empressed with their combination of A slower doom/death feel mixed with tradi-tional flute and guitar work of their ancestors. If the Ren-Fest had a Metal band playing out front, this is the band that would represent. Love the flute playing throughout the album. Very suddle and heart-warming actually. Around it is the guitar riffs, harsh metal vocals, and pounding drums. I can imagine that their shows are full of mead drinking debauchery, like when the ancient warriors would come back from slaying their foes. Think of Garmarna or Clannad all souped up on brutality. Check them out at www.myspace.com/svartsot

HACAvITZ “Meztli Obscura” 2010(Moribund)Straight forward Blackened Death Metal from our friends south of the border. After two full length CDs, a few split releases, as well as line up changes Hacavitz comes out with a pretty good Death/Black Metal hybrid that churnes out some good guitar riffs and ever changing drum blasts. The vocals are basic raspy Black Metal but are accom-panied with some good musician-ship. Tracks “Hablan Los Muertos”,

“Cauitl Glalticpac” and “Sulphur Winds” are some of the most noti-cable of the songs with music rang-ing from the fast and brutal to a slower Doom riffs. “Sulphur Winds” quickens the pace with some pit stomping breaks. Not sure how their previous releases sounded but this one is pretty intense and brutal in its own right. Check them out at myspace.com/hacavitz666

COdES IN THE CLOUdSwww.myspace.com/co-deinthecloudsVery ambient, introspective, and

a nice mental board full of colors ranging from the soft hues of what clouds look and feel like with their ambient/melancholic expression to a firecracker red explosion through-out their songs, “Fractures” does it beautifully as does “Digital Land-scapes” yet on a heavier alterna-tive/experimental post-rock feel. I would guess fans of MOGWAI, RUSSIAN CIRCLES, THIS WILL DESTROY YOU will dig this. They have a freedownload song off “The Silent Ballet: Volume 10” Compilation from Lost Children La-bel. Be sure to check them out and give your mind something interest-ing for a change.

WARBEASTwww.myspace.com/texasmetalal-lianceOld school Thrash Metal is the name of Warmbeast’s game and when you have powerhouses from

ex Texas bands GAMMACIDE, RIGOR MORTIS,ROTTING CORPSE, and HAMMER WITCH your sure to have a powerful punch of Metal. Their debut CD, “Krush the Enemy” is being released April 27 on Philip Anselmo’s (PANTERA) Housecore Record label. They have one song on MySpace called “We Are the Vultures” as well as their new video for “Scorched Earth Policy.” Bringing back the old Texas Metal sounds in a fresh new way.

THE RUNAWAYS (2010)

Really interesting movie dealing with the life and times of the all girl 70’s-80’s Punk-Rock band The Runaways. The majority of the movie evolves around gui-tarist Joan Jett (played by Kris-ten Stewart) and singer Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning) in the late 70’s from the inception of the band by Jett and drummer Sandy West (Stella Maeve) to finding Cherie, their touring in the US and Japan to the leaving of Cherie and the start of Joan Jett and the Blackheart. Movie also delves into the whole sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll reality of the band. I was kind of sadden by the lack of mention dealing with Lita Ford (Scout Taylor-Compton) and her future as a solo artist, especially in the end-ing credits, which mentions abit about Jett, Cherie and producer Kim Fowley. It was cool that you were able to hear those old tracks “Cherry Bomb”, “Holly-wood”, “School Days” as well as

“I Love RocknRoll”, “Bad Reputation” and “Crimson and Clover” by Joan Jett. Other musical notes in-clude David Bowie, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, & the Sex Pistols.

1234(2008)

I never heard about this movie till recently. It’s an Independant film from Europe about two guys that work at a phone cen-ter that dream of creating an Alt. Indie Rock band and mak-ing something of themselves (this is any band right?). They get on board another guy and girl and start playing music, re-cord a demo and play around local pubs, rehearsing and ex-pierince life as any musician would. The movie is very light hearted and really isn’t all too exciting, yet, if your in a band, like Indie music, know the ups and downs of making a go with a band, relationships between members of the band, etc., then you might like this. Some of the scenes are humorous, especially the call center bit midway through.

THE BLACk“donna” EP

Checked these guys out one night when they played down here in Vic-toria with Toxic Fuse at Downtown Bar and Grill. Music is almost in the 50’s early 60’s feel. Almost has that Beatles, Buddy Holly feel to it. Something I would call ‘Happy-go-lucky’ music, cus the music brings back feelings of innocence and goofy aloofness. This is music that should definately be heard on a 45” record in a soda shop jukebox. There’s abit of a Country, 2-Step-pin, Punkish feel to it all, with abit of a Motown feel sneaking its way in through the guitar work. Very odd and very different feel of mu-sic here. Got to give them credit for playing music like this. It’s noth-ing new cus its been done before yet, not in over 50 years, so in a way, its refreshing, in a way. www.myspace.com/theblack

MERCURY dESCENdS4 Songs EP

This Prgressive hard Rock Metal act out of Corpus has a few things going for itself. For one, the pack-aging of the CD/EP is top notch, helping them to be recognized out

of the thousands of new bands trying to make it in todays music scene. Music wise, the band gives their all in delivering straight foward Rock with a bit of heaviness thrown in for good measures, yet, in part, something is lacking in their perfor-mance. They sound like they would perform their music 100 times bet-ter live then what came off on their release. Music isn’t anything overt-ly exciting or memorable. There are some moments that it delivers on feeling and musical strength but, I think, the production keeps them bck from being more than what they are. I’ll check them out in Corpus in October when they play Dillofest at House of Rock, so we shall see what their live show brings to the table. www.mercurydescends.com

7 YEAR CRUSHdemo

This is a band that has a lot to of-fer, especially vocally. Coming out of little ole Cuero, Texas comes 7 Year Crush. Straight Rock with abit of Metal thrown in with female vocals to kick everything into high gear. Ashley has abit of South-ern flare in her voice, at times abit Country, but nothing “yee-hawie” if you know what I mean. Vocals are strong and have feeling behind it. Music ranges from heavier Rock to harmonious grooves on tracks like “For My Own Good”, “Rub It In” to abit of a Country feel on “Here or There”, but not too much of a Coun-try thing. Check them out at www.myspace.com/7yearcrush.

This is an informal letter of intent. We have ‘plans’ to work on a TV real-ity show called, “Pimp My Hearse.” The basis for this show is full edu-cational... It’s moral purpose is geared to-wards teaching the very nec-essary idea of how to ride ‘death’ in style.

The premise of our show is to take a film crew to dif-ferent mortuaries and ask (ever so nicely) if they hap-pen to have an extra hearse just laying around that they would donate to a worthy cause (our cause being ‘really cool a d -vice for the afterlife... and such). After the first twenty or so doors being slammed on

our face, and probably the cops being called, we would finally come across some ninty year-old retired morti-tian who would be down for the ‘purpose’ (you know the one... that creepy old guy that makes you feel like you

just stepped into the mov-ie “Phantasm”... look it up youngins!).

The negotiations (or trying to convince people that we

are for real) continue as we go to different ‘chop-shops’... oh, I mean ‘established body

shops’, trying to find someone who would donate their time and energy (and prob-

ably their money too) to design and build our vision of “going out in style”.

Once completet-ed, the once out-dated death-mo-bile that had had more stiffs in it then Paris Hilton or Snooki from Jersey Shores combined, will be ‘one bad mutha-fuckin state-of-the-art MEAT

WAGON! Hell yeah!

The idea behind this creation is a closly guard-ed secret, but we want you to envi-sion what the hell we’re talking about (which we, ourselves are still trying to fig-ure out). One idea would be having a full black stretched hearse decked out with morbid shit, you know grim

reaper hood ornament, saw blade rims, dark

b l o o d - r e d curtains in the

back (which is also known as “The Corpse Com-fort Zone), as well as dual exhaust by FlowMaster, 14” Lift hydrolics system, black-light under- c a r -riage and interior from the b a c k to the front w h e r e you’ll find the 356 “Doom Engine” (due to the ‘doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom’ sound the en-gine makes. Just close your eyes and repeat that over and over and you’ll eventu-ally get it).

The interior will include the “Chauffeur ‘A-La-Morte’

Cockpit”, fully equipped with

chainlink steer-ing wheel (you know, the ghetto kind), two 15” subs

running off a 2000 watt

amp for the ominous death

march and what-not (anything higher and we’ll blow out the windows... trust us), and to top it all off, one of those groovy skull stick-shifts with red light up eyes (yeah, we’ve all seen ‘em).

And if that wasn’t enough, we’re going to include a

skylight roof for those who are interested in the watery-grave theme. Yep, you guessed it... mini

hot tub. The skylight doubles as an integral

part in our Sky Burial Package (go look it up,

it’s a real thing). And last, but certainly not least, a fully stocked mini-bar, for those that need a stiff one (no pun intended).

Alright, you’ve heard too much already. Well perhaps not... If you’re a generous philanthropist with a curiosity for the macabre, contact us and we will be in business!

Morbidly yours,

The Meat Wagon Chop Shop Corporation, Inc.

Why would any one want to erect four granite slabs, 16ft tall, weighing more than 20 tons each that has a center piece and capstone on top, that has various languages carved into them that speak of ten guidelines, or commandments for humanity in the middle of northeast Georgia?

Called the “Georgia Guidestones” the strange monolithic structures were com-missioned in 1979 by a well dressed man who, by all indica-tions, wanted to re-main unknown. Built by the Elberton Gran-ite Finishing Com-pany and completed

in March 1980, the guidestones have not only English writing but also Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, and Russian. On the edge of the top center capstone is the statement “Let these be guide-stones to an Age of Reason written in Babylonian cuneiform, Classic Greek, Sanskrit, and Egyptian hieroglyphics.

The guidestones have been the subject of various speculations on who and why these stones came to be. For one, the unsettling ten guide-lines open up a floodgate of thoughts.

Many people believe this to be a post-apocalyptic guideline for civi-lization in the future. Others, believe it the work of some New-World Order or secret society that knows more than what is being said. No

matter, it raises an eyebrow for anybody interested in something out of the ordinary. Above is the 10 guidelines and below are just a few thoughts on each of them. For more information on the guide-stones check the resources at the end of the article.

Other interesting facts dealing with the Georgia Guidestones make it the more intriguing, for one, there is a plaque of sorts beside the structure that give info about them. There are dif-ferent carvings that indicate dif-ferent astronomical features. The sponsor of it is listed as: A Small group of Americans who seek the age of reason.

Right below that is what ap-pears to be markings for a fu-ture time capsule. There is no date to when it is to be placed and no date on when it is to be opened. I would guess their waiting for the apocalypse to occur then place things in it and indicate when it is to be opened. Or, better yet, when they do place items in the

time capsule, maybe it’s safe to say it will be right

before some horrific cataclysmic event. But how would they know unless they were the ones that started it!?

So, if you happen to be passing through Georgia, be sure to take a gan-der at these interesting guidestones. If they picked this spot as a safe location to erect these large granite slabs maybe this is a good place to be when all hell breaks loose!
