What is Crowbar? Crowbar Herbicide is a post emergent grass herbicide containing 375g/L Diclofop Methyl. It is registered for the control of Crowsfoot (Eleusine indica) in a range of turf species including Couch, Kikuyu, Qld Blue Couch, Buffalo and Salt Walter Couch. Features of Crowbar: • Proven performance. • Cost effecve opon for large area treatment. • Excellent turf safety characteriscs on warm season grasses including Couch, Kikuyu, Qld Blue & Buffalo. • Very effecve in controlling Crowsfoot when in the early growth stages (seedling to llering). • Can be applied regularly throughout the season. • Rainfall and irrigaon won’t diminish effecveness as much as other products. • Quality formulaon. Mode of Acon of Crowbar Herbicide: Crowbar Herbicide is a selecve systemic herbicide, which is absorbed primarily by the leaves, with some absorpon by the roots in moist soil. Once inside the plant Diclofop methyl undergoes rapid transformaon to the diclofop molecule, which is translocated within the plant. Crowbar Herbicide is a Group A mode of acon. Diclofop Methyl, the acve ingredient in Crowbar works by inhibing fay acid producon via prevenon of acetyl CoA carboxylase (ACCase) synthase. As a result, Diclofop Methyl has been proven to destroy the plant’s cell membrane, prevent the translocaon of assimilates (plant food reserves) to the root system, reduce plant chlorophyll content, and inhibit photosynthesis and meristem acvity. Applicaon: Crowbar is applied at a rate of 1.0 – 2.5L/Ha (10 – 25mL/100m 2 ). Use the lower rate for seedlings, and the higher rate for more established Crowsfoot plants. A repeat applicaon maybe required in 2-4 weeks when treang more mature Crowsfoot plants. Results are best with Crowbar when applied under good growing condions and weeds have sufficient leaf area. When using Crowbar, the following factors are crical to maximise herbicidal performance. 1. Best results come from early season applicaons. 2. Ensure good coverage over the Crowsfoot plant. Use higher water volumes where praccal (>500L/Ha). 3. The addion of a non-ionic surfactant such as Pro-Film 904 or a methylated seed soil such as Hasten has been proven to enhance control on Crowsfoot. 4. Avoid applicaons to turfgrass under drought stress or stress from insects, diseases or nematodes. 5. Do not apply Crowbar through any type of irrigaon system. 6. Do not tank mix Crowbar with any liquid ferliser. What is Crowbar?Crowbar Herbicide is a post emergent grass herbicide containing 375g/L Diclofop Methyl. It is registered for the control of Crowsfoot (Eleusine indica) in a range of turf species including Couch, Kikuyu, Qld Blue Couch, Buffalo and Salt Walter Couch.

Features of Crowbar:• Proven performance. • Cost effective option for large area treatment.• Excellent turf safety characteristics on warm season grasses including Couch, Kikuyu, Qld Blue & Buffalo.• Very effective in controlling Crowsfoot when in the early growth stages (seedling to tillering).• Can be applied regularly throughout the season.• Rainfall and irrigation won’t diminish effectiveness as much as other products. • Quality formulation.

Mode of Action of Crowbar Herbicide:Crowbar Herbicide is a selective systemic herbicide, which is absorbed primarily by the leaves, with some absorption by the roots in moist soil. Once inside the plant Diclofop methyl undergoes rapid transformation to the diclofop molecule, which is translocated within the plant.Crowbar Herbicide is a Group A mode of action. Diclofop Methyl, the active ingredient in Crowbar works by inhibiting fatty acid production via prevention of acetyl CoA carboxylase (ACCase) synthase. As a result, Diclofop Methyl has been proven to destroy the plant’s cell membrane, prevent the translocation of assimilates (plant food reserves) to the root system, reduce plant chlorophyll content, and inhibit photosynthesis and meristem activity.

Application:Crowbar is applied at a rate of 1.0 – 2.5L/Ha (10 – 25mL/100m2). Use the lower rate for seedlings, and the higher rate for more established Crowsfoot plants. A repeat application maybe required in 2-4 weeks when treating more mature Crowsfoot plants. Results are best with Crowbar when applied under good growing conditions and weeds have sufficient leaf area. When using Crowbar, the following factors are critical to maximise herbicidal performance.

1. Best results come from early season applications.2. Ensure good coverage over the Crowsfoot plant. Use higher water volumes where practical (>500L/Ha).3. The addition of a non-ionic surfactant such as Pro-Film 904 or a methylated seed soil such as Hasten has been proven to enhance control on Crowsfoot.4. Avoid applications to turfgrass under drought stress or stress from insects, diseases or nematodes.5. Do not apply Crowbar through any type of irrigation system.6. Do not tank mix Crowbar with any liquid fertiliser.

Australian Field Trial Results- Crowbar Herbicide v Nugrass

Trial conducted at a West Epping Sportsfield, Epping NSW, February – March 2010.

Summary of Field Trial Results • Both Crowbar and Nugrass provided better control than the untreated control. • Crowbar provided statistically equivalent control of the Crowsfoot population to the industry standard Nugrass.• Control was achieved with Crowbar on Crowsfoot with one application and took 30 days to see the best result.

Crowsfoot Grass – Key Notes

• Botanical Name - Eleusine indica • Spring, Summer Annual. Can be a Perennial in Northern States.• Germination Temperature: 16 - 18°C for five consecutive nights.• Number of seeds per plant:<4,000. Germinates later than Summergrass.• Tough, dark green monocot with flattened stems and strap-like leaves.• Smooth leaf blades with folded vernation and white sheaths.• Short membranous ligule divided at centre. • Tolerates low mowing heights.• Inflorescence is two to ten spikelets on long stem.• Seeds profusely from late spring through to autumn.
