2040 metrOpOlItaN traNspOrtatION plaN (mtp) UpDateUpdating the MTP is required every four years.

Over the past few months CRTPO staff, in consultation with technical

staff throughout the new MPO planning boundary area, has been

developing a fiscally constrained roadway project list – one of the

significant components of the MTP. A ranking committee was formed,

and using the roadway ranking methodology and revenue assumptions

approved by the MPO board, evaluated more than 270 roadway

candidate projects. The result is a draft fiscally constrained roadway

project list that the MPO agreed to release for public involvement at its

meeting on Wednesday, September 18. The draft project list will be

available for public comment from Thursday, September 19 until Friday,

October 4, and three public meetings are scheduled for further review

and input:

CRTPO Welcomes New Staff Member

Curtis Bridges was recently

hired by the MPO as Principal

Planner, specializing in

Geographic Information

Systems (GIS). Most recently

Curtis worked in Raleigh as a

Transportation Planner for a

consulting firm, but is familiar

with the Charlotte region from

previously having lived and

worked in the area. Curtis will

provide much needed services

and expertise as a member of the

MPO staff.

As a reminder, the State of North Carolina recently passed new transportation

legislation referred to as the Strategic Transportation Investments (STI) – or the

Strategic Mobility Formula (SMF) as it is sometimes called. More information

about the new STI can be found on NCDOT’s website by clicking
