I. Business Concept StatementOur business concept here is to create a more

productive way with the use of mobile phones in the health care industry. The idea here is to create an application for mobile phone users that help them take personal blood pressures with a device attached to the phone, some sort of a digital stethoscope. We will develop a safe and a standard measuring device and software that can remotely do personal health care checkup and report it to a server managed by some medical group of physicians for monitoring.

II. OpportunityThe current trend nowadays is to have your own

mobile phones of any kind for personal communication. It is not anymore a luxury but a necessity for any purpose: personal, business and enterprise.

Mobile phones are owned by almost everyone. In the Philippine setting, where texting is the basic commodity of mobile phone and branded as the texting capital of the world, evidently shows that large of the population owns mobile phones. Even the poor people can own one; mobile phones are getting cheaper and getting more advanced that ever.

II. Opportunity (cont.)IPhilippines, as our target market for the initial launching,

also lack personal medical care since majority cannot afford to consult a doctor or aid some medications. Many do not have access to government medical facilities and sometimes accessibility is there but priorities are for those who pay which most of our citizens cannot pay whole of the bills, in some cases.

Taking into consideration of this situation, where many Filipinos owns mobile phones and lacks personal medical care, we see a great business opportunity of providing a solution that will not costs much to mobile users. The only cost they will pay is the royalty fee of the software installed in their mobile phones and an option to pay for private medical monitoring subscribed to a specific physician. Also, a specialized heart-beat reader is to be purchased and attached to mobile phones to record blood pressures.

II. Opportunity (cont.)IThe product is provided by download via the Internet or

directly to mobile phones via WAP enabled phones. Anyone can own the software or tool as long as it meets the device specifications.

With the seen opportunity, mobile users who wish to take record of blood pressures are to buy this tool because it can get them instant medical assistance without having much cost, at their own place and time.

III. Product/ServiceWith our possessed skills and capabilities with I.T. development,

we are certain that this product will soon become a reality. The development of the software product would be in-house while we will get some technical help with some engineers to deal with the wired device to attach on mobile phones. We are aware that health industry follows certain standards or measures, and we will see to it that we will consult experts related to that field to come up with a reliable product and service.

Software licensing or royalty can be around of Php 2500.00 – Php 5000.00. This includes the software bundled with the detachable wired device and an optional of remote medical record consultation. This can be SMS or web-based.

We see no competitors in this prototype product. We know that this is not a traditional and may seem not reliable to some, but we will see to it that we will consult every experts on different fields pertaining to resolve the issues concerned.

This new technology we are trying to develop and see that our competitive advantage as the pioneer. The traditional stethoscope is always there but not all homes know how to operate it and own one.

IV. Business ModelOur business model here is by selling the

service or product itself. Installation or configuration can be another income generating venue. But what we will primarily offer is to sell the software and the small wired gadget that will be attached to the mobile phone for heart-beat detection.

Also, we will only use our skills and capabilities as IT people to make this product into reality. We won’t spend much on the development neither we won’t avail any outsourced help.

Product maintenance and support can be less of the expense since tweaking of the system can be easily manage since we developed the system.

V. Technology/InnovationWireless technology evolves in a fast pace. Many

applications are developed to make use of these innovations. Taking into the trend of wireless technology evolution, we plan to do this innovative solution, taking new technology to produce old necessity of people and deliver it in a new area.

Most mobile applications do not concern anything of the field in the health industry. Commonly, they are for business, communication and entertainment. We see an advantage over other software developers since our solution is more unique and concerns more of life and biosciences category.

In the current market, there are no solutions such as we plan to develop. This gives us a more competitive advantage since we do not have any competitors. We believe that this is a viable product because it sustains basic health needs of people.

VI. Markets

Since we have the product as a viable solutions to health, we can partner with some medical groups. We will try to partner with mobile phone providers

to bundle our service to their package or we can sell in independently on the mobile phone stores.

Pricing will be based on our over-all costs of development and some royalty for the trademarks as we will soon seek to patent and trademark this tool.
