St. Clair County Community Service Coalition October 2016

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month The YWCA (Our Place) will be holding a candle light vigil at Chapel in the Pines on October 11, 2016 at 6:30pm.

Weekenders Family Market is coming to St. Clair County! Beginning in September 2016, Community Food Bank of Central Alabama is partnering with 12 St. Clair County schools and 5 local volunteer hunger-relief organizations to expand healthy food access for children and their families. Every month, participating households will have to access fresh produce and wholesome pantry staples right from the safe, convenient, and familiar locations of their children’s schools—even during summer break! Through the Weekenders Family Market, CFBCA and its partners will ensure that local kids have the nutritious food they need to learn and grow into our community’s future leaders! To learn more about Weekenders Family Market and how your organization can potentially partner with Community Food Bank of Central Alabama to expand healthy food access for children in St. Clair County, please contact CFBCA’s Programs Coordinator, Jon Barnacastle, at wjbarnacastle@feedingal.org.

Peggy Mann Celebrate Recovery

Location: Pell City Date: Tuesday nights Time: 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Cost: FREE! Additional Info: Approved by the St. Clair County Courts as a Recovery Program allowing those who have been through Drug Court to participate in this program. At Restoration in Pell City we meet every Sunday at 5:00pm. We start with a Large Group setting at 5:00pm, then men and women's small groups at 6:00pm and close with our Last Chance Cafe Fellowship at 7:00pm. First Baptist Church – Utility Assistance

Community Service: Supplying utility assistance for St. Clair County residents Restrictions: once every six months When: Mondays – Thursdays Time: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Additional Info: Applicants must bring their utility bill and driver's license

First Baptist Church Guideline Changes for Utility Assistance We have changed our utility help guidelines. St. Clair County residents will be served once every six months and can come in for assistance Monday thru Thursday, 9 am-3 pm. They should bring their utility bill and picture I.D. FBC will pay partial amount of bill with amount paid based on circumstances and information obtained from utility company.

"Love Your Neighbor" Ministry Free clothing, furniture, household items, baby items, etc. Everything is located at the storage building on Hwy 34 at Handy Corner (across from the Chevron Station). Organization: Ann's New Life Center Additional Info: Volunteers at Ann's New Life Center seek to support and empower women who are facing stressful or unplanned pregnancies. By walking alongside them through their pregnancy in mentorship, providing parenting education, sharing the love of Christ, and assisting them with material resources, we are able to give them confidence and hope for the future. About the CSC

The St. Clair Community Service Coalition (CSC) is composed of community service groups, organizations and churches in St. Clair County. We’re gathered in this manner so that we have a way to communicate with one another. This will help us to work more

efficiently and cut down on duplicating services, thereby enabling us to further stretch our limited budgets. It further benefits us just to be aware of the other resources available to those we are trying to help,

especially where it pertains to referrals from similar organizations when writing grants. We’re mainly using the CSC as a means of open

communication. We meet quarterly in Pell City.
