Human brain, the most valuable creation of God. The man is called intelligent because of
the brain. But we loss the knowledge of a brain when the body is destroyed after the death .
“BLUE BRAIN”- The name of the world’s first
virtual brain. That means a machine that can function as human brain.
![Page 5: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
What is BLUE BRAIN
![Page 6: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Is it really possible to create a human brain?
“YES", The IBM is now developing a virtual brain known as the BLUE BRAIN.
It would be the worlds first virtual brain. Within 30 years, we will be able to scan
ourselves into the computers.
![Page 7: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
WHAT IS VIRTUAL BRAIN?
![Page 8: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
A machine that can function as brain
It can take decision. It can think. It can response. It can keep things in memory.
![Page 9: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
BRAIN SIMULATION
![Page 10: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
NATURAL BRAIN VS SIMULATED BRAIN
INPUT Through the natural
neurons
INTERPRETATION By different states
of the neurons in the brain.
INPUT Through the silicon
chip or artificial neurons
INTERPRETATION By a set of bits in the
set of register
![Page 11: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
OUTPUT Through the
natural neurons.
PROCESSING Through arithmetic
and logical calculations
MEMORY Through
permanent states of neurons
OUTPUT Through the silicon
chip.
PROCESSING Through arithmetic
and logical calculation and artificial intelligence
MEMORY Through Secondary
memory
![Page 12: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Now there is no question how the virtual brain will work.
But the question is how the human brain will be up loaded into it.
This is also possible due to the fast growing technology.
![Page 13: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
UPLOADING HUMAN BRAIN
![Page 14: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
The uploading is possible by the use of small robots known as the nanobots.
These robots are small enough to travel through out our circulatory system.
Traveling into the spine and brain, they will be able to monitor the activity and structure of our central nervous system.
They will be able to provide an interface with computer while we still reside in our biological form .
![Page 15: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Nanobots could also carefully scan the structure of our brain, providing a complete readout of the connection.
This information, when entered into a computer, could then continue to function as us.
Thus the data stored in the entire brain will be uploaded into the computer.
![Page 16: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
EXAMPLE OF BLUE BRAIN
![Page 17: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
A very good example of utilization of blue brain is the case "short term memory".
In some movies we might have noticed that a person might be having short term memories.
![Page 18: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
A another situation is that when a person gets older, then he starts forgetting or takes a bit more time to recognize to a person.
For the above reason we need a blue brain. It is a simple chip that can be installed into the human brain for which the short term memory and volatile memory at the old age can be avoided.

BLUE BRAIN PROJECT AND RESEARCH WORK
![Page 20: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
IBM developing the “Blue brain” .
IBM, in partnership with scientists at Switzerland’s Ecole Polytechnique Federal De Lausanne’s(EPFL) Brain and Mind Institute will begin simulating the brain’s biological systems.
NEWS: The EPFL Blue Gene was the 8th fastest supercomputer in the world
![Page 21: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Since November 2008, IBM received $4.9 million grant from the pentagon for research into creating intelligent computer.
In November 2007 project reported end of the first phase of project.
It is likely that we will be able to download the human brain at sometime around 2050.
![Page 22: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
The project will search for insights into
how human beings think and remember.
Scientists think that blue brain could also help to cure the Parkinson's disease.
The brain circuitry is in a complex state of flux, the brain rewiring itself every moment of its existence. If the scientists can crack open the secret of how and why the brain does it, the knowledge could lead to new breed of supercomputers

ADVANTAGES
![Page 26: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
DISADVANTAGES We become dependent upon the computer .
Others may use technical knowledge against us.
Computer virus can destroy the data which is stored.
A very costly procedure of regaining the memory back.
![Page 27: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
FUTURE PERSPECTIVEProsthetic devices to restore vision, hearing
or limb control might be the next step.
Further in the future, the real dreams would be the realization of the “brain-in-computer and chip-in-brain” arrangement.
This is just ’blink of an eye’…there’s lot more to come…
![Page 28: Cse 22-shekhar-](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062821/589b0ee71a28abb85d8b6a6f/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
CONCLUSIONWe will be able to transfer ourselves into
computers at some point.
It will bring both benefits and harm to human society .
Very soon this technology will be highly accepted whole over the world.
