Welcome to your player induction pack for the forthcoming 2015/16 season.

The player development programme provides proven development opportunities for local footballers with potential – chances that extend beyond the field of play.

We recognise the importance of producing rounded individuals who are preparing for life, using football and a structured training programme to help them develop the tools they will need through our new three phase approach:

Foundation Phase: U6-U10

Development Phase: U11-U14

Progression Phase: U15-U18

Each phase will have a dedicated full time Development Officer who will become your point of contact for all communication.

You will see from the diagram on this page, where you currently are in the player pathway and the potential routes for progression.

As well as those who have been recruited by the Norwich City Academy or signed professional contracts within the Football League, there are countless examples of players who have gained valuable work experience with the Community Sports Foundation, and who have moved on to become part of the full-time members of our coaching team.

Congratulations on your selection and we look forward to working with you during the coming season and beyond.

Welcome

It was a challenge for us, to be away from home. But we proved that we can be independent and do things for ourselves.

Programme overview

The Foundation aims to deliver our player development programme across a two tier system, through the

Elite Player Development Centre (EPDC) and the Player Development Centre (PDC) programmes.

The Elite Player Development Centre (EPDC) offers players from U9 to U16 the chance to train twice a week

at a central Norwich venue with selected EPDC players of similar potential. The EPDC aims to deliver a development

programme across all 4 corners of the FA’s player development model (Technical, Psychological, Physical, Social)

and is the recognised tier prior to entering the professional academy environment.

The Player Development Centre (PDC) offers players from U6 to U16 the chance to receive quality

coaching through a programme based on technical development and competency. Selected players will be able

to access sessions at venues situated in key areas around Norfolk and North Suffolk, including Norwich, Cromer,

Dereham, Gorleston, Lowestoft and Wymondham.

Next steps

The Futsal Scholarship Programme

The Norwich City CSF Futsal Development Programme is an exciting opportunity for young people between the ages of 16-18 to continue both their education and career development through Futsal and Norwich City Football Club.

This unique and high quality experience will combine focused, small group educational sessions with our designated BTEC tutor, and the opportunity to train with qualified coaches and represent Norwich City Football Club in our Futsal fixture programme against the likes of Chelsea, Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion football clubs.

A limited number of scholarships will be offered each academic year with priority given to current football development programme players.

CSF Canaries

New for 2015-16, we will be offering players in their U16 season the opportunity to be selected to play for CSF Canaries U18. CSF Canaries U18 will play in the Thurlow Nunn Youth League, competing against local semi-professional football clubs on a weekly basis. The league is played mid-week under floodlights and in semi-professional football grounds around the county. The aim of the U18s is to provide our U16 players a regular, competitive fixture programme whilst providing players with a well-managed experience in preparation for their next footballing steps.
