CSFP ALUMNA TATYANA LOWRY SPEAKS AT CSFP’S JUNE 2017 STUDENT AWARD CEREMONY

“What I loved about my CSFP school was its cultural diversity and that it was community-oriented. When it came to academics, they always made sure that the students were doing their best and if you needed help, they had the resources for it. I thank CSFP for allowing me to receive the education I needed to receive to get where I am today.”

Dear Friends,

Since 2001, Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) has awarded 24,500

scholarships providing Philadelphia children with access to over 170 quality K-8th

grade schools. Today, these children are learning and growing, attending high school,

graduating from high school and college, and moving into the workforce. They are taking

their solid educational foundation and creating a ripple effect on our entire community.

As Nahla, a CSFP eighth-grader explained, “I know that I was given these privileges and

rights for a reason, and I’m going to turn around and use my gifts to help the people who

don’t have as many.” Nahla is determined to impact the world, and CSFP has helped set

her on that path.

Last year was great for CSFP and the children and families we serve. Together, we

celebrated our 15th Anniversary Crystal Ball, expanded our Parent Ambassador program,

and were awarded a significant, multi-year grant from the William Penn Foundation.

We look forward to this coming year, which opens an exciting new chapter for CSFP.

We are thrilled for the opportunity to work with this wonderful community on the

extraordinary, outcomes-focused work of CSFP. On behalf of the entire CSFP staff and

board, thank you for your support.

Together, we can build a bright future for Philadelphia.

Thank you.

Patrick J. Burke Heather Weiss Frattone President of the Board Executive Director

“I have seen first-hand how doors open through education, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the CSFP team.”

CSFP hosted its annual Application Launch event on September 20th at the National Constitution Center, with a crowd of more than 850. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney joined, commenting that “The only way for our kids to be successful and free is through education.”

The funding will support CSFP’s efforts to improve quality for

early childhood education in Philadelphia through a

collaborative initiative. CSFP Parent Ambassadors will disseminate information about quality Pre-K to parents, while CSFP will connect partner schools with resources to improve quality and meet Keystone STARS requirements.

Philly K-8 School Fair

On October 7th, CSFP and GreatPhillySchools hosted the Philly K-8 School Fair, an inclusive event that brought over 100 diverse schools and family resource providers together. Over 1,500 children and families attended the fair and met one-on-one with

officials from public charter, district, and private schools.
