Toresistcorrosionintheseareas,saltladenairmustbeexcludedfromthecavity,forinstancebylappingandsealingtheflashingatcornersandjoins.Allwallsmustbesufficientlyexposedfromabovesothatraincanperformnaturalwashdownofthewall.Wallsthatareprotectedbysoffitsabovemustbewasheddowntwiceperyear, toremovesaltbuild-up.Ensurethecorrectfastenersareused.Referto‘Components’.
Priortotheapplicationoftheexternalcoating,washdownwallswithcleanfreshwatertoremovesaltspraybuild-upfromsheetsandfixings.Sheetsmustbeallowedtodrybeforecoating.
SaRKINGTheuseofsarkingishighlyrecommended.Windforcescanproducelowerairpressureswithinbuildingsthanontheoutside,assistingtoforcewaterthroughgapsinthebuildingenvelopesuchasaroundpenetrationsandjointlocations,evenatlowwindspeeds.

Condensationisacomplexproblem,andcanoccurunderavarietyofconditions,notjustcoldweather.LiteratureonthissubjectisavailablefromCSIRO/BRANZ/ASHRAEandshouldbeconsultedwhenbuildinginareaswherecondensationislikelytooccur.Inthesecases,theappropriateuseofasarkingasavapourbarrierorasthermalinsulation,orboth,canbeeffectiveincontrollingcondensation.
COldClIMaTESIncoldclimateswherecondensationinthewallcavityispossible,avapourbarrierisalsorecommendedbetweentheinternalliningsandtheframing.
Cemintel™TextureBaseSheetsarenotdesignedtobeincontactwithsnoworicebuild-upforextendedperiods,suchasisexperiencedinalpineareassubjecttosnowdrifts.
insulaTionIt isrecommendedthatinsulationmaterialsbeinstalledforenergyconservationandoccupantcomfort.Insulationalsoimprovestheacousticperformanceofthewallagainstoutsidenoise.
ThelevelofinsulationprovidedinawallisdescribedbyitstotalR-value.ThehighertheR-valuethegreatertheinsulationprovided.
R-values for somesystemshavebeencalculated inaccordancewiththemethodsoftheBCAandaregiveninTable2.

Vibrationssuchasnailfixingtheinternalliningsshouldbeavoideduntilthetexturecoatisdry.Thisistoreducethelikelihoodofthesheetfastenersprotrudingandthecoatingbeingdamaged.
