    Sample CSR Policy Template

    (1) Purpose and Commitment:

    Describe the main purpose(s) of your corporate sponsorship and volunteering

    e.g., To support charities, non-profit organizations, and local volunteering activities in

    order to build strong communities.

    Describe your overall contribution

    donations/sponsorships: % of our Earnings Before Taxes (EBT)

    corporate volunteering: % of the employees total number of workhours (or total

    number of work days allocated per year, per employee)

    (2) Scope and Exclusion:

    Define which kinds of projects your company will sponsor

    health projects/educational projects/environmental projects

    Define the kinds of sponsorship that your company will consider

    financial support (monetary donations and sponsorships) in-kind giving

    other material support

    employee volunteering (making time, skills, and free labour available)

    Describe the kinds of projects, sponsorships, or volunteering that your CSR policy actively

    excludes

    Your scope can be part of a very precise sponsorship approach

    Include as much detail as is practical:

    A special kind of project or particular activity that you want to support

    The type of sponsorship envisioned

    If corporate volunteering will be initiatedwhat kind of volunteering, number

    of hours/frequency?

    (3) Sponsorship Process:

    Criteria for eligibility

    What type of organization qualifies for sponsorship? (e.g., must be a non-profit

    organization that is registered under the Societies Act)

    Process to apply for a donation/sponsorship

    On-line form, email or postal mail applications

    Submission deadlines (e.g., X number of months before the beginning of the project)

    Internal approval process

    Identify team in charge of pre-selection + project submission, designate authority in

    charge of final funding/sponsorship approval

    Identify how to deal with out-of-scope requests

    Budget management

    Identify which budget utilized, and for which period(s)

    This section can be drafted as a stand-alone policy for corporate volunteering, but regardless, should

    explain how employees can participate in the program.
