Frequently Asked Questions
Can I assign training to my direct reports?
Yes, Appropriate Administrators are able to assign professional development training to their direct reports through the CSU Learn library. All
compliance-based, required training will be assigned by Learning and Development. For instructions on how to assign or share training with
direct reports, see Sharing and Assigning Training above.
What kind of training can I assign to my direct reports?
Appropriate Administrators are able to assign most of the content held within the CSU Library to their direct reports. All compliance based
training, including Environmental Health and Safety training, is assigned and tracked by Learning and Development, and appropriate
administrators do not have the ability to assign it on their own. More information on what is considered “compliance based” can be found at the
CSYou Compliance Training for CSU Employees page (log in may be required).
How can I see what training my direct reports have completed?
AAs can view training completed by direct reports two ways- by using the Manager’s Dashboard (see Using the Managers Dashboard above) or
by requesting a copy of the direct report’s transcript. Every user has the ability to print or convert their transcript to a PDF. Instructions on how
to do so are available in the CSU Learn User’s Guide available on the HR training website.
Are student employees required to take training?
Yes, student employees are required to take compliance-based training, as directed by the Chancellor’s Office or SSU departments. Training
assigned to students via CSU Learn is based on their employment status and will not impact their status as a student.
Why can’t I see a direct report on my manager’s dashboard?
The direct report may hold more than one position on campus and have their other Appropriate Administrator listed as their primary AA within
the CSU Learn system. If you cannot see one of your direct reports, please reach out to [email protected] for assistance.

How will I be notified of my direct report’s overdue training?
Appropriate Administrators will be notified of overdue compliance-based training by Learning and Development at several points throughout the
year. AAs are responsible for following up with their direct reports and ensuring completion of training in a timely manner.
Who should I contact if I have additional questions?
