Hello Circle Kers!
Good to see you all again, sorry about our lack in recent newsletters-
you know, cause weve been doing a lot of service. How much exactly? A LOT, so much infact that every member in the club had done almost 1 full days worth of servicewithin the past year. Yeah- thats right. Be proud CSULB Circle Kers, pat your-selves on the back.Just to let you know, March 31stis the end of mine and the board term, I know-sad news- but its not like were going to go out without a BANG, cause- wevegot DISTRICT CONVENTION [DCON]- its a way to meet hundreds of CircleKers from all of California Nevada and Hawaii- as well as earn awards for being
an awesome member, or an awesome board member! Theres so much to talkabout when it comes to District Convention, and so many stories to tell- but wellsave that for the next issue. I honestly wish I had money and could pay for EVE-RY single CSULB Circle K member to go do DCON so you could all experience it- ah but such is life.Dont start getting depressed because the term is coming to a close, or you cantmake it to DCON, instead, just spend time with Circle Kers doing SERVICE,strengthening FELLOWSHIP bonds, and gaining LEADERSHIP.Ill see you in the next and last issue, 49ers.
Regards,
Sean Dylan Nguyen

Working WardrobeBy Keith Moy
The Working Wardrobe Beautification was a funevent. We helped a store owner re-tag all her itemswhile she the store was being renovated. This in-volved removing old tags and replacing them withtags in the right spot and the size of the clothing
item on it. Although the work was tedious, it rewardin its own sense. I would gladly go back again tohelp out.

UCLA Pillow Fight 2012By: Kristel Eclarino

On January 14, UCLA Circle K hosted Pillow Fight! Its UCLA Circle Ks biggest fund-raising event that they do annually in support of a charity that they sponsor for thatyear. This year, they sponsored Alexandria House: a non-profit transitional residenceand neighborhood center for women and children in need of emergency shelter inDowntown L.A. Every dollar that UCLA CKI raise goes directly to Alexandria House andwhat other great way to raise money than have a huge pillow fight! CKI clubs all overthe CNH district, plus students from UCLA all gathered at Ackerman Ballroom to beateach other with pillows, and it pajama themed too, so that was cool! Other than wack-ing each other with pillows, alternative activities were making blankets, writing greet-ing cards, and creating gingerbread houses. Between the main pillow fight sessionswere performances and games to keep us fully entertained. Pillow Fight had a variety
of performances from bboying, to wushu, to singing! With the games, everyone wasdivided into teams of colors like Pink, Orange, Red, Yellow, Purple, and Blue. They hadfun games like musical pillows, runway walks, and pillow toss. Ultimately Orange teamwon and they got candy! I actually heard about Pillow Fight ever since I was in highschool and I always wanted to go to this event, and it finally happened! I would saythat I was pleasantly satisfied with this amazing experience, and it was all for a greatcause. Thank you UCLA Circle K for hosting such a wonderful event, and for the CSULBCKIers who didnt go this year GO NEXT YEAR! You wont be disappointed!

Meals on WheelsBy Renee Eguia
Many of us woke up early one Friday morning to help pack coldand hot meals for the residents of Long Beach and Signal Hill. What I found out is that the organization provides inexpensive andnutritious meals for citizens who are unable to get the means topurchase their own food and/or are severely ill. Some of us had tomake sandwiches, place food in a container, arrange condiments, fold the paper bags and had numerous tasks. Eventually all of uswere in an assembly line to pack the food for 100+ Long Beach
and Signal Hill residents. A small group of us even had the oppor-tunity to drive to the residents homes and deliver the food. Manyof them were thankful for their food and some of them even want-ed to chat with us about college, and even what languages weknew. It was an overall great event and Im glad we are able tohelp those who are less fortunate.

Meals on WheelsBy Kristel Eclarino

Meals On Wheels is hands down one of my top favorite service pro-
jects that Ive done in Circle K! Thursday, February 23 was my first time go-
ing to Meals On Wheels and I LOVED it. I went with Joe, and we were imme-
diately put to work. We were packing lunch bags and dinner trays for people
around the Long Beach area who are unable to buy food for themselves. We
packed about a hundred or more lunch bags and dinner trays and it felt really
good knowing that I helped make a difference in peoples lives who cant do
that for themselves.
Even though Meals On Wheels is a really early morning service pro-
ject (7:00 am), when you leave that event, you will feel like a better person-
well thats what I got out of it anyways. I recommend everyone trying to go to
Meals On Wheels at least once! Once you go, I bet that you want to go back
there and volunteer again- which is what happened to me. I went to both the
Thursday and Friday Meals on Wheels event! Plus, you can eat all the left-
over food! And theres a lot!

On Wednesday, February 22, David and I went to the LongBeach Rescue Mission to serve dinner to the homeless peoplearound the Downtown Long Beach area. We served dinner toabout 200 people and we served them cornbread meat, mashed potatoes, corn, and they had a side of cookies. Whatour job in particular was to set up their dinner like to set thecups, plates, and utensils on the table and get their dishes oncethey were done eating. Most of the people there are so nice
that theyll put a smile on your face once you talk to them! Itwas nice taking two hours out of my day to do this event! Iwould definitely do it again whenever we are asked to comeback.

February DCM/Dodgeball Tournament
By Kaci Nashimura
8
On February 26 Cal State Long Beach took about 10 people to Cal
State Dominguez Hills for the February DCM which updated all
schools on the past and future events each school hosted. Once
wed all been caught up, there was a dodge ball tournament between
teams of five and it was a close call each time. But in the end, our
CSULB Green Team (Keith Moy, Sean Nguyen, Nick Spadoni, Alex
Nauta and Peter Cheng) were victorious!! Things were very competi-
tive, crazy, funny and overall a lot of fun.
