CT/CBCT SCANS AND DATA EXPORT
Instructions for a successful 3D planning
PATIENT PREPARATION:
- detachable, metalliferous prosthesis must be removed(artefacts can lead to an inaccurate planning)
- keep metal-free prosthesis
- adjust patient‘s head in a way that beam is parallel to the occlusal plane of the lower jaw
- create a space between buccal soft tissue and the jaw bone by using cotton rolls
- scan patient with the CT-rack, check if titan tubes are complete (10 mm)
- if no CT-rack is available let the patient bite on something (spatula etc.) to ensure immobile lower jaw
- enter LJ oder UJ right-aligned in the patient data file

SETTINGS
- Gantry=0, otherwise the scan is not compatible with planning software
(FreeForm, OneGraft3D, SimPlant etc.)
- layer bigger/equal to feed, never smaller (good value 1/1/1)
- field of view as small as possible, spine is not desired
(upper jaw ca. 9-10 cm, lower jaw ca. 10-15 cm)

The scan-level indicator needs to be adjusted in axial and sagittal level at a right angle. This can be checked in the alignment-record (Topo, Scout) or in the first axial level.
SCANNING THE LOWER JAW:
scan from below lower jaw (first bone-free layer) until scan-level indicator
SCANNING THE UPPER JAW:
scan from scan-level indicator to lower end of Orbita (including maxillary sinus)

ATTENTION:
- if patient has moved a second scan should be done
- vary the patient name (John Doe2) to create a new data set

DATA REQUIREMENTS
- always send uncompressed images, the correct data file consists of alignment record
- do not include secondary reconstructions
- if more than one data file is created, please save them with different names
(John Doe LW2, etc.)

RESOLUTION
Original resolution/voxel size 0.16 - 0.3 mm
OUTPUT FORMAT
DICOM (.dcm)
Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine
Instructions for CT/CBCT scansfor planning of maxgraft® bonebuilder
DATA REQUIREMENTS
Unlinked single frame data images (DICOM)
FOR CT DATA:
Only axial images are compatible with the planning software,
sagittal images cannot be read in and processed.
If combinations of axial and sagittal images are created,
the whole data set is incompatible.

In case you export your data on your own and you need help,
please contact your technical support of your radiological device.
Please check the successful export by using a free DICOM-Viewer software
(e.g. XNView / xnview.de) before uploading to avoid any delays
in planning caused by defective data.
DICOM data export
ATTENTION!
If you do not find the right format, please ask your radiologist for advice.
The output format of a digital radiological device can easily be switched within thesettings without taking another scan.
1. Register as a user(Log In – Create a new account)
2. Create a new order
3. Upload the DICOM data as a .ZIP or .RAR folder
4. Write a comment about desiredmaxgraft® bonebuilder location(designated teeth, implant type/implant length/diameter etc.)
5. Confirm by clicking on the ‘Save‘ button
