    your machine.

IMPORTANT: Do notuse a pressure washeror garden hose toclean your unit. These

may cause damage toelectric components, spindles, pulleys, bear-ings, or the engine. Theuse o water will resultin shortened lie andreduce serviceability.

General Recommendations Always observe saety rules when perorming

    any maintenance.

The warranty on this lawn mower does not cover

items that have been subjected to operator abuseor negligence. To receive ull value rom warranty, operator must maintain the lawn mower as

    instructed here.

Changing o engine-governed speed will voidengine warranty.

All adjustments should be checked at least once

    each season.

Periodically check all asteners and make sure theseare tight.

WARNING: Always stop engine, discon-nect spark plug, and ground against

engine before performing any type ofmaintenance on your machine.

Lubrication1. Lubricate pivot points on the blade control at least

once a season with light oil. The blade control mustoperate reely in both directions. See Figure 5-1.

    2. Lubricate the wheels at least once a season withlight oil (or motor oil). I wheels are removed or any

reason, lubricate surace o the pivot arm and innersurace o the wheel with light oil. See Figure 5-1.

    3. Lubricate the torsion spring and pivot point on the rea

discharge door and side mulch plug periodically withlight oil to prevent rust. See Figure 5-1.

Deck CareClean underside o the mower deck ater each use toprevent build-up o grass clippings or other debris. Follow

steps below or this job.1. Disconnect spark plug wire. Drain gasoline rom lawn

mower or place a piece o plastic under the gas cap.

    2. Tip mower so that it rests on the housing. Keep the

side with the air cleaner acing up. Hold mower irmly

WARNING: Never tip the mower morethan 90 in any direction and do not

leave the mower tipped for any length oftime. Oil can drain into the upper part of the enginecausing a starting problem.

    3. Scrape and clean the underside o the deck with a

suitable tool. Do not spray with water.

    4. Put the mower back on its wheels on the ground. Iyou had put plastic under the gas cap earlier, makesure to remove it now.

    Engine Care

NOTE: Reer to the engine operation and maintenancesections in this manual or detailed instructions.

    Maintain oil level.

Service air cleaner every 25 hours under normalconditions. Clean every ew hours under extremely

    dusty conditions.

Clean spark plug and reset the gap once a season.

Clean engine regularly with a cloth or brush. Keep th

cooling system (blower housing area) clean to permit

proper air circulation. Remove all grass, dirt, andcombustible debris rom muler area.

Replacing Rear Flap1. To remove rear lap, lit rear door, and press lap in on

or where power tools are operated.

    6. I possible, also avoid storage areas with high humiditybecause that promotes rust and corrosion.

    7. Keep the engine level in storage. Tilting can cause uel

    or oil leakage.

Removing From Storage1. Check your engine as described in the Pre-Operation

    Check section o this manual.

    2. I the uel was drained during storage preparation, ill
