CRE - Gram-negative Carbapenemase Plate

HardyCHROM™ CRE is used as a primary screening medium for blood, sputum, or urine samples for the simultaneous detection and differentiation of gram-negative bacteria that produce carbapenemase. Carbapenemase producing bacteria will grow on this medium with the following colours:

h Klebsiella, Enterobacter, and Serratia spp. produce large, dark blue colonies.

h E. coli produces colonies that are rose to magenta in colour, with darker pink centres.

h Pseudomonas spp. produce colourless to light yellow-green, translucent colonies which may have a slight iridescence with crinkled edges.

Supplements & Selective AgentsLyophilised supplement vials are packed in multiples of 10, each vial consisting of either 500ml, 1 litre, 2 litre or even 3-4 litre pack sizes depending on your ordering preference.

The supplements are presented in a freeze-dried format, and they carry with them a 2-3 year shelf life depending on the antibiotic content. Storage of the products should be in a refrigerator at 2-8°C. On addition to the appropriate culture medium the content of each vial is mixed and dissolved resulting in the correct level of selective agents.
