The first Amendment

George was curious about the amendments. As curious as he was he finds a book about the amendments and begins to read. He learns about the 1st amendment. And reads how it protects his basic rights.

George also reads that the first amendment allows him to say anything he wants, and express himself anyway he wants

The 2nd amendment

George was worried about being bullied by someone. The Man in the yellow hat reminds George of the 2nd amendment and how it gives him the right to bear arms

George was curious about what the right to bear arms means. Curious George decided to ask the man in yellow hat. He tells him that it means he has the right to protect himself.

Amendment 3

No soldier can demand to stay at your home or in any house without your permission.

The cops won’t leave George alone from his home. Because of the 3rd amendment, George has the right to tell them to go away.

Amendment 4

You the right to secure your belongings from

unreasonable searches.

Curious George is securing his food in the jar from all of the of the birds. He knows that he has the right to do this

Amendment 5

You do not have to answer for a crime unless on a presentment of a Grand Jury. Or be trialed for the same crime twice.

Amendment 6

Everybody has the right to a fair and speedy trail and be confronted with the witness against them

Amendment 7

George was being too curious and broke a bike. The owner sued George and now the jury is deciding the punishment. The judge can not override the jury’s decision.

Amendment 8

Curious George went to the grocery store last week. He saw the bananas and stuffed them in his backpack for later. Curious George didn’t know that he had to pay for them and one of the workers took Curious George and told him that he just stole the bananas. He then had to be kept in jail for a little bit. Although the police can’t be have a huge punishment or bail for Curios George, so the man in the yellow hat gave the police money and Curious George got to leave.

Amendment 9

Curious George was hanging out with the man in the yellow hat. He told Curious George a secret and said that he can’t tell anyone. Amendment 9 states that the people have any rights that the federal government did no take. So, Curious George has the right to privacy and nobody can make him tell the secret.

Amendment 10Curious George decided that he wanted to go to

school! When he was in Michigan, the school told him that monkeys are not allowed in schools. Although, states have any powers that the federal government did not say. Now Curious George lives in New York. So, New York can have different laws and they said that monkeys are allowed to go to school. He is now one happy monkey!

Amendment 11

One Monday, the Man in the Yellow Hat had to be in the jury at court so Curious George went with him. He listened and found it very interesting. The Man in the Yellow Hat has a friend, Kevin, and he is a part of the U.S Supreme Court. He can’t get involved with this court case because national courts are not allowed to do anything in other local or state courts that have to do with state problems.

Amendment 12If George could vote

He would vote for the President and Vice President on the Voting ballot separatelyBecause the Constitution made it that way.

Amendment 13George’s friend, Benny, once told him about

how a long time ago when Abe Lincoln was President,some people had slaves to help them farm in the fields. President Lincoln helped people realize that slavery was wrong. So now, it is Abolished.

Amendment 14

George lived in the jungle before coming to America. But the Man in the yellow hat was born in America making him a natural born citizen. You are automatically an American Citizen if you are born here.

Amendment 15George wonders if he can vote.

The man in the yellow hat told him that anyone over 18 can vote, no matter what religion you are or race you are

Amendment 16Curious George just sold bananas to some of

his friends, but he had to pay the government taxestaxes or part of the money that

he made. Curious George wanted to know why they can just take his money. The man in the yellow had said that the government

can take a little bit of what you made because they need to pay for things like

schools or roads.

Amendment 17The man in the yellow hat wanted to

become a part of the government called a senatorsenator. Curious George made signs for the man in the yellow hat so that his friends and other people would see the signs and vote for him because the people will choose if the Man in the Yellow hat will get picked.

Amendment 18Everyday Curios George would have a

banana while the man in the yellow hat would have a drink that he told Curios George he could not try it because it was only for adults. Although today Curious George got his banana and the Man in the Yellow hat did not have a drink. The Man in the Yellow hat told Curious George that his drink was banned.

Amendment 19 The man in the yellow hat had a friend named

Maggie that would sometimes come over and play with Curious George on Mondays. They played hide and seek, but Curious George always hid in a tree and won. On Monday, Curious George got upset because Maggie never came over! Then the Man in the Yellow hat got home from voting. He told Curious George that women can now vote and so Maggie was with him voting.

Amendment 20Curious George wanted to somehow become apart of the government, but wasn’t sure what. So, the Man in the Yellow hat talked to him and he learned a lot. The congress congress meets at least 1 time a year. The president and vice president will finish their terms on January 20th, while the congress’ terms end on January 3rd. Also, if something happens to the president, the Vice President takes his position.

Amendment 21The Man in The Yellow Hat could

drink his adult drink since Amendment 21 repealsrepeals Amendment 18. Alcohol is now legal to sell or drink.

Amendment 22George was curious

about why George W. Bush didn’t run in the 2008 election. He wasn’t sure so The Man in the Yellow Hat explained to him that a president can only be elected for two terms. His two termsterms were up then.

Amendment 23Although George doesn’t

live in Washington D.C. He visited there with The Man in The Yellow hat with glee. He learned that it was the countries capital and that the people there could vote in the election of Presidency

Amendment 24Curious George went with

The Man in the Yellow to vote. While he was there he took note that young women and men were voting and so were older people. No one there would be denieddenied voting by not paying a poll tax according to Amendment 24

Amendment 25

When Curious George went to the White House he learned that if the president were to die or unable to carry out their dutiesduties. The vice president shall take his place. The new president would then nominatenominate a vice president to take his old role in the government.

Amendment 26Curious George always wanted

to vote for a president. He watched the presidential election results on T.V. and wanted to go vote for himself. But The Man in the Yellow hat said according to Amendment 26 you can vote if your over the age of 18. George isn’t old enough yet.

Amendment 27

The Man in The Yellow Hat is a Senator for New York. CongressCongress can’t change any senators or representatives pay while they are serving that sessionsession of Congress. So he can’t make any more money then he is already making.
