1. Market demand
Markets exist
• organic: food and feed
• conventional: non-GMO protein feed for
the animals producing milk and meet for
nonGMO labeled brands
... and seem to be not exhaustable in
the next few years.
Prices are competitive:
45-50 (conv.) ....75-95 €/dt (organic)

3. Cultivation systems
• 000 cultivars predominant (00 only in warmest regions)
• in rotations with maize and cereals ...
- instead of maize (western corn root worm-regulations)
- instead of rapeseed (dry regions)
- instead of barley
• Seed in April-(May): 55-70 s/m², 15-75 cm rows
- Inoculation: HighStick/Force 48; FixFertig
- weed control: PE (few products) or mech. ... decisive!
- no significant pests and diseases yet
- harvest in September (October) (averages 23-28 dt/ha)

5. Perspectives: increasing added value
Best in organic agriculture
As well as conventional in regions where
• Other crops have more difficulties (e.g. rapeseed
in regions with draught in early summer)
• Crop rotations have to be enlarged (tight cereal
rotations, monoculture of maize (diabrotica)
and in farms, that have more added value through
their proper feed production (e.g. egg-farmers with
direct marketing)

develop interesting niche markets!
• Food (Tofu, Drinks, Snacks, ...)
• Feed for regional products (eggs, meat, ...)
• nonGMO-labeled brand products (milk, ...)
• organic-Feed
5. Perspective Soybeans from Germany
• German soybeans are far away from replacing
substantial protein imports from overseas
... but they may
