An erudite collaborative discussion on establishment of Centre of Excellence (CoE)

with Aspire Systems was initiated by our Principal Madam Dr.J.Janet along with

Dr.Jayasudha Subburaj, Placement Officer at the Aspire Systems corporate

premises, Chennai today.

The Industry connect was spearheaded by Mr.Subbu Sambatham, Head-

Talent Nurturing, Mr.Dinesh, Director-Talent Acquisition and Mr.Keerthi

Narayanan, HR-Talent Acquisition of Aspire Systems.

Principal Madam presented the Institutional highlights and the vast strides

of SKCET in achieving various Academia-Industry initiatives.

The collaborative highlight of the day is that SKCET is the only Institution

for Premier Centre of Excellence (CoE) with 4.5 LPA CTC.

The session was inclusive of Aspire Campus visit and Interaction with our

SKCET students who are placed at Aspire Systems.

S&H - INAUGURATION OF WESTIBULE ENGLISH CLUB

The Department of Science and Humanities inaugurated Westibule English Club in the

august presence of Dr.A. Albert Raj, Dean-Academics and Dr. V.Ragavi, Head of the

department, Science and Humanities. Capt.Dr.V.Neelakandan, Associate Professor of

English, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, College of Arts and Science was the chief guest

of the day.

S&H - WORKSHOP ON ENHANCING WRITING SKILLS

Aiming to provide a forum for improving writing skill of the students, a one day workshop on

Enhancing Writing Skills – Tips and Strategies was organized by the Westibule

English Club. The workshop engrossed on learning, unlearning and relearning of English

language to improve the writing skill of technocrats. The session included a range of

activities to practice writing skills. The students were trained to compose proper language

structure and present the written communication format in a more precise format with

practical exercises.

IT: SALESFORCE ADMINISTRATOR TRAILHEAD WORKSHOP

The Department of Information Technology in association with ICT Academy is

organizing six days workshop on ADX 201: Sales force Administrator trailhead for the

Pre-final year students of various disciplines. Day 3 session was on „Creating reports

and dashboard‟ for sales and marketing trailhead tool.

SoM: AICTE FDP – BUSINESS ANALYTICS – DAY 3

The day 3 session of the AICTE FDP on Business Metrics was delivered by

Dr.A.Mansurali, Assistant Professor, PSG Institute of Management on ‘Clustering,

Linear Regression, Multiple Linear Regression and Logistic Regression’.

DEPARTMENT MEETING – S&H

Dr.V.Ragavi, Head of the department of Science and Humanities convened a meeting

for the faculty members regarding GQ admission. Allotment of duties was intimated and

faculty were asked to take up the roles effectively for the smooth conduct of admission

process. The progress of Academic Information Brochure and preparation of Orientation

Programme was also discussed.

Dr.Abhay Jere,Chief Innovation Officer,MHRD visited the Nodal centre at Veltech

University, Chennai. Team Pop ups explained about their model Desalino to which he

suggested some modifications. After visiting all the teams, he delivered a short speech

on the expectations of SIH 2019 and need to develop the skills in delivering the

innovative products aesthetically.

A Webinar session on InfyTQ Certification was hosted by Infosys. The session

highlights were aimed at Student development pertaining to Industry readiness. Infosys

TQ team emphasized certain strategic markers for the InfyTQ Certification events which

were planned in the upcoming months.

Title: An open sourced motor controller for hybrid vehicles Nodal Centre: IISER, Pune

Team Vector’s prototype was evaluated by Dr.Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, MHRD

Innovation Cell. Their circuit modeling is in progress by taking into account the technical inputs

received during the evaluation.

ALUMNI INTERACTION - MCT

Mohammad Sheik Ibrahim, distinguished Alumni of the batch, department of

Mechatronics Engineering is currently an International Master’s student at Chalmers

University, Sweden pursuing his MS in Control System. Md. Sheik Ibrahim visited

the department of MCT and interacted with Third and Final year students about the

higher education system at Sweden and also motivated the students to go in for higher

studies with focus on the strategic measures to pursue advanced engineering streams.

NAAC CRITERIA-3 MEETING - EEE

Dr.K.Lakshmi, Head of the Department, EEE along with Dr. P.Ashoka Varthanan,

Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering convened a meeting with all the

department coordinators of NAAC Criteria 3 on ‘Research, Innovation and Extension‟.

They reviewed the progress on preparation and checked all the file contents in detail.

Class Committee meeting was conducted for the Second year ECE students. Student

representatives from all the three sections attended the meeting. Dr. Karthika, Associate

Professor, EEE and the Class Committee Chairperson discussed about the conduct of

classes , academic and non academic issues.
