3.1. Research Agenda

1. Oil and Gas Related Environmental Conflicts (2001-2010). A series of small-n comparative studies of oil and gas conflicts in indigenous territories and protected areas from the Amazon. Countries: Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Bolivia.

2. Energy and Environmental Governance (2007-2010). A comparative study of environmental policy and energy policy in the Andean region. Countries: Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia and Bolivia.

3. Policy Analysis and Design (2010-2015). A state of the art on policy studies and policy analysis, in preparation for a text-book in Spanish.

4. Public Accountability (2017-). A comparative study of causal factors affecting public accountability in Latin America, with a special emphasis on the relationship between lack of transparency and corruption. Countries: Ecuador, Venezuela, Mexico and Brazil.

3.2. Research Management

1. Social and Environmental Conflicts Observatory (2001-2008). A multi-disciplinary research group specialized in oil-related conflicts in the Amazon, which conveyed three rounds of public debates on oil and sustainable development in Ecuador. Also an organization providing research and consulting opportunities to students of the Master´s degrees in Social and Environmental Studies, and Energy Governance.

2. Governance Lab (2009-2012). A research group hosted by FLACSO where scholars from different programs interacted on research related to democratic governance. In 2012 it became the Department of Public Affairs which offers, as for today, two Master´s programs, in Public Policy and Urban Studies, and a Doctoral program in Public Policy.

3. Comparative Policy Lab (2015-). A research group hosted by the Department of Public Affairs at FLACSO. It offers a place for scholars, graduate students and doctor candidates to interact on their research. The agenda is twofold: enhancing the policy design framework through small-n comparative studies, and improving

multi-methods based on qualitative comparative analysis, congruence analysis and process tracing.
