➢Please check your child’s TIGER binder and their ELA teacher’s website for copies of each unit’s study guide.
➢At the end of the three week unit, students are tested on spelling and vocabulary words. Reading comprehension tests take place on Fridays, one week prior to the end of a unit.

Journals• We use interactive journals daily. This results in
fewer graded papers going home in TIP.

Homework PolicyIt is expected that students complete homework nightly (Mon-Thurs).
Work not turned in on time may have points deducted for each day the assignment is late, and the student behavior sheet will be marked.
Students should check their homework folder and agenda nightly.
NOTE: The My Math books stay at home and the one page HW is torn out and returned the next day.

Attendance PolicyExcused absences are only for personal illness, religious
holidays, serious illness of a family member, or death in the family.
Parents must provide a written excuse within 5 days.
Missed work will be given to the student when he/she returns to school.
Pleasure trips are considered "unexcused" absences.
Teachers will be glad to save missed work, but will not be able to give it to the student before the absence.
The school is required to report repeated unexcused absences to a social worker.

Students transition to specials at 7:45 a.m.Please do your best to have students at school before 7:45. If your child arrives at 7:45 or later, they will need to go straight to their Specials class (schedule is located in your child’s TIGER binder).

Please communicate with us via e-mail or written note.
Notes must be sent if your child is going home in a way other than stated in the dismissal agreement. Please sign and include a telephone number within your note. If riding a bus with someone else, please include the bus number.
If there are any last minute dismissal changes, please do not email them. Please call the office to ensure that the message will be received.
If you need to communicate with your child during the school day or drop off a forgotten lunch, please do this at the office.

School Wide: Tiger Paws will be awarded to students
making good choices.
White Tiger Paw Tickets will be given by teachers outside of the classroom and will be drawn for big school-wide prizes.
Blue Tiger Paw Tickets will be given by class teachers and will be drawn for class prizes and principal’s treasure chest.
