DESCRIPTION
Goals/Philosophy The Pacific Curriculum Technology Showcase goals are: 1. emphasize information and communication technology integration into standards-based curriculum lessons 2. showcase all students and staff entries in as many venues as possible at three different educational levels. School Level Showcase ideas: 1. school INTRANET 2. school Curriculum Technology Showcase Evening (community may be invited) 3. school meetings and trainings 4. school-wide broadcast of morning announcements or newscasts 5. other school communication outlets DSO Level Showcase ideas: 1. INTRANET 2. At meetings, conferences, and trainings 3. To visitors as they visit a DSO briefing 4. other communication outlets. PDO Level Showcase ideas: 1. Projects showcased on entry monitor 2. Projects showcased on DoDDS Pacific DDESS Guam Internet or Intranet Site Judging a. Only the local school will do any “judging” to decide which three/six projects to share with the DSO and which three/six projects to share with the PDO. b. A DSO or the PDO will do no judging; only showcasing. Certificates: School level provide: “Certificate of Participation” signed by the school Principal. Template will be provided by the PDO to the school. DSO level provide: “Certificate of Merit” signed by the District Superintendent. Template will be provided by the PDO to each DSO. PDO level provide “Certificate of Merit” signed by DoDDS Pacific DDESS Guam Director. Signed and completed certificates will be sent from the PDO to the showcased ‘authors’ via the school mail. Rubrics/Scoring Method The Pacific Director’s Office (PDO) is supplying the school with an example of a Project Rubric that can be used. A local TILT committee may be used to determine which entries will be sent to the DSO and PDO. The projects sent to the DSO do not have to be the same as the projects sent to the PDO. A school can send up to three (3) entries to the DSO and PDO. Schools with a student population over 800 are welcome to send up to six (6) entries to the DSO and PDO. Only the first three entries (or 6 entries – depends of school enrollment) will be used for the Showcase. All submissions will be submitted electronically at https://ed.dpi.pac.dodea.edu/sites/CTS/default.aspx Pacific Curriculum Technology Showcase Any current DoDEA curriculum must be the curriculum component of the project. Projects must be based on DoDEA curriculum standards. Entries must be created with any DoDEA supported software and hardware. Student Work--Teachers and parents must exercise a "hands-off" approach and allow the students to produce the projects for entry in the Curriculum Technology Showcase. By submitting the project a school staff member verifies the entry was original and produced by the student(s). All sources must be cited. Group entries-- Two or more students are considered a group, so please include all members of a group in the entry form sent to the DSO and PDO. Classes, clubs, teams, etc. may also enter as a group. In the group the student with the highest grade level will determine the entry level of a group. Use of Entries--The school Curriculum Technology Showcase review committee, DSO, and PDO reserve the right to make copies of an entry for dissemination through DoDEA Intranets, Internets, publications, broadcasts, and other modes of presentation. Exclusion of Inappropriate Content--DoDEA promotes the rights of individuals to be free from exposure to objectionable material. This exclusion covers material which promotes criminal activities, voices hate speech towards any group or individual, espouses extremist views, encourages the use of drugs or alcohol, is demeaning to any group (including sexual exploitation), encourages irresponsible sex, or advocates conduct otherwise inconsistent with the shared values of a civilized social order.
