I am currently undergoing the second year of a History degree at the University of Kent, and I am currently on course to attain 1st class honours.

During University first year I received 1sts in several modules, attaining a high 2:1 overall. 4 A levels: English (A), Ancient History (A), Religion and Philosophy (C), General Studies (C), as well

as Psychology at AS Level (B). 11 GCSE’s: (3A*s, 6As, 2Bs), as well as a GCSE Short Course in IT (A). English Language Ambassador at Poole Grammar School, representing the faculty to prospective

and current students as well as parents at events and information evenings. Main School leader at Poole Grammar School, involving interaction with the younger students in a

mediating capacity, as well as organising several events such as a charity fun run and information evenings.

Experience (references available on request):

Present: Bar Associate, Origins Bar, The University of Kent I am currently employed at a restaurant on campus. This has served to enhance my customer service skills, whilst also developing the strict time management that is essential in balancing academic and extracurricular interests with work hours.

December 2011 – 2013: Bar Associate, The Man In The Wall Whetherspoons, Wimborne This role was vital in helping me diversify my skillset, and honing the values essential to success in the workplace. Punctuality and thoroughness in my work were required at all times, and dealing with the pressure of long hours and a highly paced customer interactive environment was essential in broadening my skills for thriving in such conditions. I also gained valuable experience in communication with a wide variety of people.

December 2010 – December 2011: Kitchen Porter, The Bull Inn, Wimborne St. Giles Demonstrating my desire to gain work from an early age, this job accentuated to me the importance of consistently meeting deadlines, and being a reliable element of an efficient team. It also helped foster a sense of responsibility for the team performance in a relentless and demanding situation.

Work Experience at Muse Magazine (2010), Writing for Touchline Talk (2013) and editing my own website ‘www.footballbriefly.com’ December (2014) In these roles I had many articles published, both in a magazine (Muse) and on a website (Touchline Talk). Each has a substantial readership by whom my work was under scrutiny, and this experience helped hone both the meeting of deadlines with a thoroughly researched and referenced piece, and writing skills of a publishable standard. I also developed the ability to effectively work to demands of my editor, adhering to his parameters in articulating the topic with economy of expression. As editor of my own website, I have had to control the content and make sure it stays current and interesting. I have also had to organise a team of contributors, ensuring their content is punctual and reaches the required standards while maintaining a harmonious relationship.

Labourer at JMB Construction (Summer 2014) In this position I had to be adaptable and develop a wide range of skills of which I had no prior experience. Having responsibility for important tasks drove my determination to be thorough and accurate in this unfamiliar environment, as any error would not necessarily be rectifiable. It also helped hone a sense of pride in the completion of a project; being the amalgamation of a plethora of factors.

Labourer at R. Sampson Removals (December 2014 – January 2015) This role also put me into a unfamiliar environment and necessitated the comprehension of a range of industry techniques in a short period of time. There is no substitute for effort in this kind of work, and that was something that I had to demonstrate from the first day. Being responsible for the possessions of others helped to develop a sense of the implications of not doing a sufficient job, and thus ensured we worked to the best of our abilities on every outing.
