O) Teaching Topics & Philosophy

My teaching Philosophy applies on the bilateral and interactional way of

working with the students, setting educational and also cultural goals. As a current Director of an Higher Institute for Life Long Learning / Education and Vocational training, I strongly support the idea of providing the trainees with the ways to learn through academic disquisition and continue updated training, based also on research.

I have broad experience on teaching the following subjects, which are also subjects of my research interest. I provide teaching based on evidence and under the Life Long education principals, using class – group work – sig saw seminars – quiz and paper preparation and exams, supported by literature review:

• Exercise Physiology – Ergometrics- (Evaluation methods for Muscle Strength – Isokinetics - VO2max – Anaerobic Power- etc and their use and application in Rehabilitation – Sport injuries Rehab and training programs designing)

• Biomechanics of Musculoskeletal system (Gait – kinematic & Kinetic analysis with Vicon optoelectronic system and Force Plates)

• Motor control and balance evaluation (EMG and EMG biofeedback studies and kinetics)

• Tissues mechanics like Cartilage, Tendon, Ligament, Muscle, Bone, Nerve and vessels and consideration for the rehab program designing.

• Orthotics & Prosthetics. Foot orthotic designing with use of foot pressure digital platforms and 3D foot scanning, methodology and case applications. Biomechanical evaluation for prosthetics use.

• Diabetic Foot clinical and biomechanical evaluation – orthotics and protective foot care procedures.

• Ergonomics and occupational biomechanics. Occupational Health and Safety and epidemiology. Occupational hazards and Risk factors analysis. Preventive Physiotherapy for occupational syndromes and injuries.

P) Leadership Philosophy

My leadership philosophy is mainly based on the motto that the good leader must be able to think long term and predict the future advances and needs. It is very important to understand where your organization is going to improve and how to get there.

I focus on seeking and having the correct person in a position to provide the most value, at the right time, to the organization. For this, I support and


mentor people to reach their full potential, give them a clear set of goals and inspire them to achieve them. Making a strong team, we focus on providing high level education and ongoing research based on funding attraction.

The basic virtues which must work bilateral, are the honesty and integrity, which shall guide all of our actions and decisions. For this, people working with me, need to be challenged, empowered and recognized. I’m open to talk and discuss about ideas that they may have to improve our group or do things in a better, more creative way.

My priorities are the benefit of my organization and the added value comes from the right and effective work under my supervision. For those, I’m very grateful and beneficial to my collaborators, but in the case that things are opposite, against the rules and needs of my organization, I have no constraints to act applying the penalties and /or other lectures based on the book
