P50 DA036106 09/01/2013-08/31/2018 NIH/FDA USC Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science (TCORS) Role: Co-Director of Methods Core & Co-I Project 3 The USC Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science (TCORS) focuses on populations that are at high-risk for use of tobacco products and addiction in order to help the FDA reduce tobacco use and its disease burden. Addressing FDA priorities, researchers will examine social media and small retailers as ways that the tobacco industry reaches vulnerable populations, and how early smoking patterns predict


tobacco product use and addiction. The TCORS will generate new research and training methods for regulatory science.

This project examines the effects of the built-environment on obesogenic trajectories in children, based on multiple CHS cohorts and using flexible multi- level modeling techniques.

The major goal of this core to provide statistical design, methodologic and analytical support to 3 projects that undertake a program of transdisciplinary studies to address physiological, metabolic, behavioral, epidemiological, genetic, and geographical/environmental influences on obesity, metabolic health and cancer- risk across high-risk ethnic groups of children.
