OPTIMISATION DYNAMICS: ALGORITHMIC APPLICATIONS WITHIN A MACRO-ECONOMETRIC CONTROL SYSTEM. The thesis dealt with estimating a couple of variants of a small (24/25 equations) macro-econometric model for India. It was used to conduct deterministic control and Kalman filtering experiments. Several simulation and policy (counter-factual) experiments were also conducted.

D. External/ International Exposure

Was awarded the prestigious Overseas Visiting Scholarship at St. John’s College, Cambridge and was the official faculty visitor to the faculty of Economics and Politics, Cambridge (U.K.) between January and June 1990 where I taught Macroeconomics and Development Economics to the undergraduate (Tripos) students. This apart I audited some courses at M. Phil and did research pertaining to Marxian economics as well as Inflation. These were later published in the form of a chapter in a book as well as an independent book.

Was awarded Post-Doctoral Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Texas, at Austin (U.S.A.) between October 1991 and April 1992. I was associated with Prof. David Kendrick who is a world-renowned control theorist and conducted pioneering research in the area of computational stochastic control macro-econometric models. These involved ‘learning’ of different kind and setting a stage for Monte Carlo studies. The work apart from serving as an input into a book also enabled me to publish two working papers at CER, UT Austin and a paper in a journal.
