Summary of Experience
Foot & Ankle Surgery: I specialise in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery. I was appointed
to set up the foot & ankle service at Hillingdon & Mount Vernon Hospitals and now run the
foot and ankle service at Jurong Health, Singapore. My operative expertise includes;
arthroscopy and tendinoscopy around the foot and ankle including arthroscopic ankle fusions
and posterior ankle arthroscopy; forefoot surgery, including scarf osteotomy; ankle, hind foot
and mid foot fusions and reconstructions. I also perform planus and cavus foot corrections,
ankle replacements and stabilisations and can provide a comprehensive foot and ankle trauma
service including developing minimally invasive and arthroscopic assisted techniques. I am
the co-chairman of the diabetic foot MDT at my hospital. I have an active interest in both
basic science and clinical research mostly, but not exclusively, pertaining to the foot and
ankle. I am a member of the ESSKA-AFAS Achilles Tendon Study Group and Ankle
Instability Group and the Ankle Cartilage Repair Society. I am also a member of BOFAS,
AOFAS and a faculty member of APSFAS.
Trauma: I have worked in several busy trauma units and was an ATLS instructor for 8
years. I am experienced in AO/ASIF techniques of internal fixation including various intra-
medullary nailing and peri-articular locking plate systems. I also have experience in the
external fixation of fractures including the Ilizarov method. I have a particular interest in foot
and ankle trauma and enjoy the challenge of complex cases. I completed an AO sponsored
trauma fellowship under Professor Hans Zwipp in Dresden, Germany and am a member of
the AO council in Singapore.
General Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine: I have Specialist Registrar experience in spinal
surgery, shoulder, elbow and hand surgery, paediatric orthopaedics, upper and lower limb
arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty and arthroscopy. I have regularly taken part in sports
injury clinics and my foot and ankle fellowship was approximately 50% sports medicine,
including the treatment of many elite professional athletes. I have a diploma in sports
medicine and am a foundation member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (UK).
