Client: Onassis Foundation.Year: 2012 - 2015

The city centre of Athens will be transformed into a green network, and Panepistimiou will be the central green spine, providing shade and shelter. The regeneration of the city centre will strongly contribute to the change of Athens. It will improve the environment of the city plus activating the area economically.

Role: project manager, supervisor

Client: Municipality of RotterdamYear: 2007-2013

Access to the centre is re-organized: a park-and-walk system at the edge of the centre, coupled to good pedestrian routes, ensures optimum ac-cessibility. In turn, the old, long lines of the city form valuable connections between cores and poles in the city centre. Injecting a new layer of green spaces transforms the daily living environment; the resulting intensifica-tion offers opportunities for urban stratification.

Role: For this project Martin Knuijt has been the lead project architect. After creating the vision he was asked to be the design supervisor for the regeneration of Rotterdam City Centre throughout the whole process. His role was and still is to lead the creative team towards an innovative public realm design.

Client: London Borough of Croydon,Year: 2009-present

Wellesley Road and Park Lane will be transformed into a green spine of Croydon, having many east west at-grade crossings. The pedestrian zones are activated by transformation of the now dull plinths into active program-mes and the connection to a diversity of new green (semi) public spaces in the adjacent blocks. OKRA developed a an urban vision, public space vision, sustainable vision as well as a early wins strategy and design of partial areas and furniture.

Role: Martin Knuijt is the lead project architect. His role is to lead the creative team towards an innovative public realm design and to convince all of the conventional stakeholders to go along with these major changes

Client: Municipality of Sluis Year: 2013 - present

Unlike common seaside boulevards, the existing central axis, the Bou-levard de Wielingen does not have direct views to the water. The trans-formation of boulevard to a shared surface with defined places, clear entrances, added program and improved visual and physical connections to the dunes, will embed it in its surroundings.

Role: project manager, main designer
