Enhancements for this release:

Introducing the HyperBubble The HyperBubble is an advanced-rendering technique created to provide an immersive visualisation of point cloud data. The new HyperBubble flight mode allows you to step outside of the traditional BubbleView and move freely around a project with the ability to ‘park’ to a scan location where demolished data is hidden from the user. The HyperBubble is a standard, built-in feature of LFM Server 4.4 meaning no additional licensing is required for the feature and that you can use it simultaneously with the BubbleView and point cloud viewing modes.

Further information on HyperBubble, including pre-requisites, how to produce HyperBubble and how to use HyperBubble, can be found in the LFM Server help guide (see page 1 – “Additional Resources” (link to “HyperBubble Creation and Use”)).

Project Zoning One of LFMs strengths has always been the ability to manage an unlimited number of scans in a single project. Our unique, ‘InfiniteCore’ approach to managing and navigating laser datasets has allowed our customers to work seamlessly with enormous assets. The introduction of zoning functionality takes this process to the next level by allowing users to identify specific areas of interest as part of the project hierarchy. These zones of interest can be created and saved very simply using volume functionality offering the user tailorable point density and therefore much easier navigation around a project. The ability to create sub divisions of areas will allow companies to splice projects in keeping with their project teams, vastly simplifying the process of consuming the laser data alongside their CAD application. Unified Processes LFM have made general improvements to unify the measurement, volume, markup and object processes across the various viewing modes. This means users can now carry out measurements (point, distance, chained and pipe diameter), volume selection, markup creation and object modifications (pipe extension and tie-in creation) across all views (point cloud, BubbleView and HyperBubble). Streamlined Interface As a result of the unified processes the LFM interface has been streamlined to group logical features together. This also includes the new View toolbar which contains all the functions related to the control of the 3D window such as toggling points, scan sites, colour .lfds and Edge Mode. More OPEN than ever… Those familiar with LFM know that we strive to provide a neutrality to our solutions to enable our customers to benefit from having the freedom to choose the right solution for them, whether that be with capture device or CAD package, without impacting internal work processes. LFM Server allows data from any capture device to be put into a single dataset ready for consumption and this latest release will now facilitates:

- LAS compatibility (.las)

- Leica P20 (.prj) data, both intensity and colour

- Riegl project format (.rsp)

- Improved conversion of Dot Product data

- Handling unstructured E57 data

Known Issues:

Internal Reference

Description

B5504 The option to import .las format files has been removed from LFM Server 4.4.0.18 due to measurement/display inaccuracies with large .las format files. We intend to reinstate this option in LFM Server 4.4.1 once these issues are resolved.

B3692 Importing an .lfm project file into another .lfm project file gives the wrong target positions resulting in red traffic lights for all targets. To get around this please update the scan headers in the source projects and add the updated .zfcs to a new project. This will result in one project containing all scans that are registered correctly.

B4629 B5195

LFM Server: Gateway Mode expects and supports the following variant of .ptx file:

LFM are aware of some instances of .ptx files that do not match the format above. LFM will look to incorporate support for these variants as and when they become known. However, any variations on this format are susceptible to problems (including crashes or failure to convert). This includes failure to convert with the error "Failed to create a .zfc file, Intensity and Image files PATH.int ! Disk Full?"

Description Solution

B2379 Volumes exported as .lfx or .lfv do not import in the correct position when imported into a different project.

Volumes exported as .lfx now import in the correct position when imported into a different project. The .lfv format for volumes export is no longer required and has been removed.

B4737 The LFM NetView project publishing process does not copy the Config directory into the LFM NetView dataset directory.

The issue is fixed and now the Config folder is copied under the LFM NetView dataset directory during publishing.

B5215 Running the AutoCAD link via a network also takes a Revit link licence.

The Revit licence request has been removed and now running the AutoCAD link via a network will not consume Revit licence.

B5268 Only five images for each floorplan are created during LFM NetView project publishing.

All floorplan images are now being generated as they should during the LFM NetView publish.

B5294 Plant3D 2017 crashes after using the Show Objects function.

The issue is fixed and objects are now successfully passed from Plant3D 2017 to LFM Server without crashing.

B5275 PDMS is slow to respond on mouse clicks when connected to LFM Server.

The issue is fixed and the PDMS is now able respond properly on mouse clicks when connected to LFM Server.

B5248 Reset volume in AutoCAD doesn't restore the low resolution points when HyperBubble is active.

The issue is fixed and clicking the Reset Volume command in LFM Server/AutoCAD will restore the low resolution points.

B5277 LFM Server toolbar does not appear in Navisworks 2015/2016 CAD link.

The user is now able to see the LFM Server toolbar with point cloud data loaded. Hence, the issue is fixed.

B5408 During LFM NetView project publishing, floorplans not being created with sufficient depth.

The issue was with the floorplan zoom level value at the source which was adjusted and now the user is able to zoom in properly.

B4405 Ability to double click on a Markup to open the best BubbleView in LFM NetView for markups imported into LFM Server via a .csv file.

The user is now able to double click on a Markup in LFM NetView and the best BubbleView will automatically be opened.

B4562 LFM Server fails to publish colour BubbleViews for LFM NetView projects if the .lfp files are not present and the colour .jpgs are not in the same folder as the .zfc files at the time of project publishing.

LFM Server now checks whether the LFM Server BubbleViews are colour or not at the start of the publishing process. If they are and the colour .jpgs are not in the same folder as the .zfc files, LFM Server asks the user to locate the colour .jpgs so the LFM NetView BubbleViews are created in colour.

B690 AutoCAD crashed when unloading the .arx file.

The issue is fixed and the user is now able to unload .arx and .dbx files successfully from AutoCAD.

B5338 Unable to load unsigned datasets. The user is now able to load unsigned datasets. Note that if a dataset is unsigned it cannot be loaded alongside another dataset. This is the intended behavior for unsigned datasets.

B5321 Setting the Mouse Mode option to Wheel does not lock out roll rotation as intended.

Setting the Mouse Mode option to Wheel now locks roll rotation as intended.

B5342 Zoom Extents function in AutoCAD link zooms to an area that encompasses the extents of the point cloud and 0,0,0. This can make the view zoom out too far, particularly for datasets at large coordinates.

Zoom Extents function in AutoCAD link now zooms only to the extents of the dataset. It does not incorporate 0,0,0 in the extents.

B5136 CAD objects in BubbleView cannot be toggled off.

The issue is fixed and the user is now able to toggle on/off the objects sent from CAD to LFM Server.

B5329 Toggle HyperBubble is not working in Navisworks.

The issue is fixed and the user is now able to toggle the HyperBubble in Navisworks.

B5289 Unable to toggle objects using F4 hotkey.

The issue is fixed and the user is now able to toggle on/off the CAD objects with F4 hotkey.

B5091 Selecting a volume in AutoCAD, adjusting the volume in LFM Server and adding the adjusted volume to the Volumes Manager automatically added the volume under a category.

The selected volume in AutoCAD is now being added as a single volume (without a category) after its adjustment in LFM Server.

B5322 Zoom to Extents with a volume selected in SmartPlant 3D zooms to the extents of the project, not the extents of the volume.

Zoom to Extents with a volume selected in SmartPlant 3D now zooms correctly to the extents of the volume.

Product QA cycle: The LFM Software development philosophy uses AGILE principles to ensure a high quality product which evolves to match customer requirements. Throughout the development cycle, test and evaluation is used to guide the process and minimise the final test overhead. The final test process has three stages, and this document has been prepared after these have been completed. These stages are outlined below.

Individual Function Test All LFM desktop functionality is examined for correct responses. Functions called from the Main Menubar, Main Toolbar, Modelling Toolbars, and Component Browser are tested in turn. This ensures that the functionality matches the design intent, and previously recorded errors have been fixed.

Destructive Test This section of the test schedule is aimed at investigating to see if a software product exhibits proper behaviour when subjected to improper usage, or improper input. The tests are applied to different data samples, machines, and in a random manner to try to replicate 'real world' variations in user conditions.

Software Acceptance Tests LFM Software concludes the LFM test cycle with a series of controlled examples

aimed at simulating real life use situations. The finished models are QA checked against calibrated historical data, to ensure that the product maintains the previous output standard.

Appendix 2: Settings for Database Clash Detection in S3D

CAD link

SmartPlant 3D (S3D) is able to run a database clash detection service on any S3D project to allow the user to identify issues in there model. This steps below will detail the steps that are required in order to run the SmartPlant database clash detection with an LFM Server point cloud. It will be assumed you are already familiar with setting up a standard S3D clash detection server and that you already have some projects setup with LFM Server point clouds attached.

1. Stop the IFC service

Note: The S3D Database clash detection is unable to clash point cloud data when it is being run as a standard service. To allow it to clash point cloud data it needs to be run as a process instead:

Navigate to “Control Panel > All control Panel Items > Administrative Tools >

Services”

Turn off “SmartPlant 3D Interference Detection Service”

2. Create IFC process batchfile

Navigate to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Smart3D\FoulCheck\Middle\bin”

Create a batch file called “IFCStart.bat” with the following contents:

IfcNtSvc.exe /Auto /0

pause

Page 13: Customer Product Release Summary LFM Server 4.4.0 · PDF fileGeneral/Server Mode error fixes for this release: 4.4.0.18 Internal ... The issue is fixed and the PDMS is now able respond

www.lfm-software.com

3. Run the IFC process batchfile

Run “IFCStart.bat” as Administrator (this can be setup as a scheduled task if

required)

If you open the task manager you should see 1 instance of the “IfcNtSvc.exe

*32” running which indicates that the S3D clash detection is ready

4. Configure the Database Clash Settings

Open S3D Project Management

Select “[project] > Interference Server > properties”

Setup the “Interference Server Settings” as you wish but ensure that the “SP3D

– PointCloud” box is checked

www.lfm-software.com

Requirements: LFM Server 4.3.0.31/4.4.0.15 or greater

Note: This last step is only valid if you want to use one server to run the clash detection for multiple S3D projects with LFM Server point cloud data

Open Regedit.exe

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LFM

Software\lfmserverAPI.dll\4.4.0.0\IfcProcess.exe

Change the “CadlinkMultiConnection” key to “1”

This will instruct LFM Server to allow multiple S3D-LFM pairs so that the several clash detections can be run in parallel. Note: Although there should be no limitation on how many instances of LFM Server can be run on one machine, be aware that the database clash detection can take a lot of resources so choose a server appropriate for the amount of projects you wish to run at once.
