4.1 Warranty Conditions

General Conditions The products affected are all products that WABCO offers for the Commercial Ve-hicle industry on trucks, buses, trailers, off-road and agricultural vehicles under the brand logo WABCO. A detailed list of the products are available from, and regularly updated by WABCO. Most of the product information is easily available and accessible through the Product Catalogue INFORM on www.wabco-auto.com WABCO grants 24 months of warranty on WABCO products; the warranty period starts from the purchase date. The WABCO Distributor or authorized WABCO Ser-vice Partner has to prove the date of purchase (e.g. with delivery note or invoice). In case the purchase date cannot be proven the warranty period starts from pro-duction date as per original type plate of the product.

Further obligations for WABCO Distributors and WABCO Service Partner WABCO Service Partner will participate on demand to any claim or recall cam-paign that WABCO is organizing. WABCO Service Partner replace WABCO products under warranty, free of charge for the customer, provided that the warranty for these products has been given ac-cording to the above mentioned warranty terms. WABCO Distributors and WABCO Service Partner shall not give or promise any warranty to customers on behalf of WABCO that would go beyond the warranty terms as mentioned above. In such case, they shall be directly responsible and li-able for warranty related decisions and for giving such warranty. WABCO shall bear no additional costs resulting from unusual installations either by a third party or by WABCO Service Partner without WABCO’s prior written ap-proval. These costs (e.g. vehicle transportation, rental costs, lost earnings) shall be borne by the customer. Product claims accepted from remote have to be stored for three months by the WABCO Service Partner or WABCO Distributor for possible further investigations.

4.2 Process description of failure diagnosis on Field & 0-km claims

Only occurrences that are the result of a fault on the part of WABCO in relation to production or construction may give rise to a complaint. The steps below are de-signed to help you in ruling out any other causes beforehand. These inspections and checks will also help to avoid complaints on functioning products (avoid reject of warranty request because of „no failure found“).

Visual inspection and functional check

Action Parameter

• Visual inspection, if possible

• External damage Examples see chapter 4.3 "Claims requests to be rejected", page 10.

• Incorrect installation position

• Diagnosis of the device/system

• Use WABCO diagnostics for electronic devices. Please check the entire braking system, in particular when faults are indicated electronically. A residual pressure in the com-pressed air braking system can, for example, result in diagnostic memory messages (pressure sensor faults), which can be de-leted once the cause has been eliminated. You can also send us the EEPROM content of the electronic control unit to be on the safe side.

1. Device is installed

• Testing the device in the periphery

• Testing the device in terms of towing vehicle and trailer interaction

• Power supply • CAN communication • Compressed air supply

• Visual inspection • Contamination of the device • Damage to the device • WABCO device? See name plate • Warranty period (original invoice required for products older

than 24 months)? Examples see chapter 4.3 "Claims requests to be rejected", page 10.

2. Device has been removed

• Testing the device on the test bench or a suitable testing facility

• Apply WABCO testing instructions with conventional de-vices see chapter 1 "General hints", page 5

4.3 Claims requests to be rejected

WABCO is committed to the quality of our products and it is at WABCO's discretion to either have the product replaced free of charge or financially settled in any case where WABCO is responsible for the improper function of a product. Nevertheless WABCO will deny any responsibility for a defect, when the root cause of the malfunction can be traced back to an incorrect usage of the product.

Reason to reject warranty requests can be e.g.: • Damage to the product or its component parts caused by incorrect use or instal-

lation. • Damage to the product or its component parts caused by incorrect operation

out of approved conditions. • Damage to the product or its component parts caused by lack of maintenance. • Any unauthorized disassembling of the product or its component parts. • Malfunction of the product due to internal contamination out of the vehicle sys-

tem. For further examples please have a look on the following table:
