Methods of Customer Service

Quality Food Good chow is paramount! No one cares if you said good

morning if they hate the food Attractive Presentation Presentation of that amazing food is also key. People eat

with their eyes! Attractive food and presentation of yourselves and your galley will put a patron in a good mood before ever sitting down.

Comfortable, Welcoming Environment Supplementing that, they way your Cashier, MDMMA

and Servers greet and interact with a customer will strongly affect their opinion of their dining experience

Methods of Customer Service Cleanliness The general cleanliness of your galley affects all patrons

opinions, guarunteed. Keep the serving line clean and organized, clean messes on the decks as soon as they appear

Sanitation Sanitary working habits strongly affect people’s

perception of your establishment. Wash your hands, shave, don’t touch food with your hands, etc.

Presentation of Yourself Show them you care! Maintain a clean, pressed uniform,

clean shave, shined boots, haircut; proper attire!

Feedback FSO Comment Cards A great tool for the chain of command to monitor and react to

customer service issues Menu Review Boards A collective forum for your customers to express their opinions

of the job you are doing Menu Production Boards A chance for the CS’s to evaluate themselves! Find the problem

areas and react before it affects customer opinions Talking With Patrons! Take the time when walking your mess decks to ask patrons

how they are doing, how YOU are doing, and how their food is

Elevating Your Game

There is always an above & beyond: Garnish Work Lighting Pictures TVs Attractive Décor Menu Marquee Special Meals (Customer Appreciation Meal!) Extras (Ice Cream, Candy Bars, etc. – on occasion!)

Summary

Customer Service is what you do, you serve them food, but you also serve them morale.

Take it seriously, and take pride in what you do, which is affect tremendously the mood of every Sailor you serve
