UTEX Industries, Inc. was founded

in 1940 as Universal Packing and

Gasket Co. In its early years, Universal supplied packing and gaskets to the local

Houston industry. In the late 1940’s, the company became more involved in the oil

and gas industry and received its first patent in 1948. Since that time, UTEX has

proven to be a leader in fluid sealing technology and now has over 35 patented

products in the field of non-metallic materials and other associated fields.

Since its inception in 1940, UTEX has grown into a world-renowned corporation

consisting of five divisions. Although its corporate headquarters are located in

Houston, Texas, UTEX serves numerous industries in over 50 countries worldwide.

UTEX has grown from being a distributor of cut gaskets and packing to being a

manufacturer of a complete and diverse range of fluid sealing products, ranging

from a simple gasket to a highly engineered gas-buffered mechanical face seal.

UTEX not only offers seals that operate at ambient conditions, but also complete

sealing systems that can withstand extreme temperatures and pressures up to

40,000 psi. The diversity of UTEX products ranges from a tiny o-ring to a custom

molded rubber part weighing over a thousand pounds.
