Resume TemplateFinished school - no formal work experience
If youve completed Year 12 but dont have a lot of work experience, your resume will be more like apersonal information sheet than a job history. It should focus on your academic achievements and otherskills and abilities.
Jobs aren't the only place you develop skills and experience, so think about the other aspects of yourlife (at school, helping at home or through volunteer work or hobbies) where youve developed skills andabilities that would be useful on-the-job.
How to use this template:
This template has been designed as a starting point for you to write your own resume. You can chooseto leave out some sections and expand on other sections depending on your particular skills andexperience. If you get stuck youll find heaps more tips and advice in our Jobs & Careers section - checkout our Applying for Jobs section to get started.
Tip # 1 Your resume should be no longer than three pages. If it's longer, there's a good chance thatpeople won't want to read it. This template resume is a bit longer because weve included tip boxes andoptions for you to choose from.
Tip # 2 Be specific. Dont just include the name of the company you worked for - specify the positionyou held and (if relevant) list tasks you completed or outcomes achieved.
Your resume should include:
Your academic track record - either academic results or core study areas or both
Activities youve taken part in at school, in clubs or community groups, or even just withfriends
Skills and abilities youve developed - these include practical skills you learned at school, such as computer skills or hands-on experience in your chosen field, as well as skills you'vedeveloped outside school (think about skills youve got from helping out at home or helpingfriends, teachers or relatives)
Any work experience youve done through school work experience programs, volunteerwork or through casual or holiday jobs - focus on the skills and strengths you developed
The roles youve played in teams and the way you interact with others
