RESEARCH

A) CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS - WORK IN PROGRESS • Mythical Escortings in the Homeric Epics A book-length study of a recurrent structural element of mythical narratives and

especially of Homeric narrative that has not received detailed attention despite its central role in contexts relating to transitions and transformations. The examination focuses on basic Greek terms, analyses them in association with or in juxtaposition to other terms and concepts and interprets them contextually. The results seem to contribute a) to a more nuanced interpretation of the Homeric epics and b) to a better understanding not only of mythical motifs but of larger mythico-ritual structures, as they seem to be articulated in major poetic texts such as the Homeric epics which exerted immense influence on Greek thought and culture.
