Experience in Dentistry: I qualified in 1992 and since then I have been working as partner in Studio Di Gioia Dental Practice

a private practice in Bari, Italy. The practice was founded in 1970 by my father Prof Elio Di Gioia, MD, DS Professor in

Orthodontics at the University of Bari. He retired in 2002. My elder sister and my younger brother

are the other partners of the practice and we have 5 associated consultant dentist, anesthetist and maxillofacial surgeons working with us on subspecialties part of the dentistry practice.

I have been Clinical Director of the practice (1998-2007) and I gained experience on Dental Practice Management and Team Leading.

In 2011 I have been invited for a cycle of lesson on Aesthetic of the Face and the smile at the University of Padova (IT), School of Specialization in Orthodontics (Director: Prof. GA Favero).

From 2011 I am partner of Favero Di Gioia Costa Clinic. The practice is an exclusive italian dental practice located in the most elegant heart of London where

we offer cosmetic dentistry, implants and facial aesthetic treatments. Facial Analysis, Digital smile design and Treatment Plan I have more than ten years experience with clinical photography and digital records. Together with my technician we developed a photographic and video approach to better evaluate all

the aesthetic and functional aspects of a Facial Analysis to set the most appropriate treatment for each case.

I’ve always been working setting a complete treatment plan project and defining well in advance all the steps up to the end.

More recently I’ve started using keynote for the cosmetic treatment plan simulation according to Dr Coachmann protocol. A great tool for treatment plan acceptance.

Fixed Prosthesis I have over 20 years of experience in fixed Prosthetic Dentistry, having treated periodontal patients

with full mouth rehabilitation with or without Implants and single crowns in young healthy patient. I have been trained to build up my treatment step by step using gnathological devices from the old

Denar Articulator and Pantograph to the modern Kawo Arcusdigma (electronic device), using Face bowl as daily routine..

I’m confident with full mouth rehabilitation in periodontal disease as well as implant supported prosthesis (I have experience with Nobel Biocare system, Immediate loading, Nobel Guide and some of the Straumann philosphy). Oro-Facial Pain I have been dealing for over 20 years with gnathological rehabilitation, Oro-facial pain and Temporo-Mandibular Disorders management with or without a splint therapy. I gained considerable experience with the Michigan splint. My approach to the Tmj disorders is according to what I learnt from prof Sandro Palla whom I have been fortunate to be trained from. It is a multidisciplinary approach being supported by Tmj physiotherapy as well as cognitive behavioral therapy. I’m well experienced in the treatment of bruxism and muscle hypertrophy with Botulinum Toxin. I’m currently attending a two years Master degree in Oro Facial Pain at the prestigious University of Parma under the direction of Professor Guido Macaluso. Facial Aesthetics and Cosmetic Dentistry During the last seven years I have been addressing my effort on aesthetics. Restorative aesthetic

bonded reconstructions as well as simple invisible composite restoration, all the metal free restorations, Cerec, Zirconia, Allumina, Lithium Disilicate, Leucite based ceramic.

My main interest is the integration of perioral and soft tissue treatment in dentistry. I took a European Master Degree on Perioral and oral non surgical Cosmetic Treatment in dentistry at The University of Padova (Italy). My final dissertation has been “Adverse effects of Hylauronic acid fillers: a review”.

I received advanced trained in several facial rejuvenation technique: skin biorevitalization with HA or

PRP (PRGF), facial recontouring with non surgical cosmetic treatments using botulinum toxin

(Vistabel, Azzalure) and resorbable dermal fillers. I’m experienced with variety of Hyaluronic Acid based products (Restylane, Belotero, Regenyal, Stomygen) as well as facial soft lift by the use of a microcannula..I currently use chemical skin-peels, polylactic acid (Sculptra) and Silouhette suture for suspension facelift.

My activity within the scientific Society Poiesis (Perioral and Oral Esthetic Sciences International Society), where at present I serve as vice-president, is to deliver training in facial aesthetics technique to dentists.

Removable Prosthesis I have fifteen years experience in Removable prosthesis, where the aesthetic outcome is of a great

importance, overdenture root or implant supported and partial denture. During the last ten years I have been trained to approach Removable Prosthodontic with the Gerber

technique. More recently I have been trained to solve the edentulous case in a quicker way with the SET (Simplified Edentulous Treatment) approach from Prof Preti (University of Turin).

Restorative Dentistry I have been always treating the Restorative part of the treatment plan starting from Amalgam, through

bonded dentistry, coming to modern indirect inlay-onlay restoration. I have the ability to manage restoration in the Anterior and Posterior teeth, vital and non vital

Periodonology I have been trained in Diagnosis and Treatment of periodontal disease. I can carry out a non surgical

periodontal procedure as well as periodontal surgery. I do like all the periodontal management but I perform just the amount of surgery I need to finalize my prosthetic patients. I’m experienced on resective surgery and simple mucogingival surgery

Endodontics More recently I have approached myself to endodontic treatment, according to the latest rotational

NiTi technique, to upgrade my skills and to be more independent in the progression of the treatment plan.

Pedodontics I have been always treating children except for orthodontic treatment. I have experience in children

from 2 ½ years and I never needed sedation. It takes time and a lot of energy but is very rewarding.

Uk experience. I had a three month locum experience on general dentistry in a private practice in Reading between

2008 and 2009. From September 2010 till May 2011 I had a part time collaboration for facial aesthetics in a private practice in London.

I have been partner and administrator of Favero Di Gioia Costa Clinic (2011-20012) and CQC manager (2012-2013) obtaining a full compliance for the new business. The practice is an exclusive italian dental practice located in the most elegant heart of London where

In my youth I was involved in voluntary assistance to haemophilic patients during summer camps. 1986-1993 I have been active member of GET a youth cooperative for Image education. I have been involved in the organization of ten national conventions and workshops about the big screen films and films made by children. The GET is still very active in Italy. I’m keeping a genuine passion for the Cinema world.
