User Profile Manager (UPM)•Also known as Portable Profiles or Portable Profile Manager

– All GUI screens read User Profile Manager; Citrix web site reads User Profile Manager

•Functions with XenApp, XenDesktop, and local desktop•Controlled by GPO; managed by Group Policy Management

Console– No proprietary management console and no dedicated servers required– Can also be configured locally via INI files

•Service runs on each managed computer•Supports migration from roaming or local profile; not

mandatory

Profile Basics•Data such as Outlook signature, use of

personalized menus, and Windows Explorer views are retained in roaming profile– Some settings can be stored in folders that
