Most of these programmes have been
developed after an initial survey of the demand
for such Programmes in the job market. They
are launched with a view to fulfil the learner's
needs for:
The programme delivery methodology used
in the distance learning mode follows a
multimedia approach for instruction, which
comprises:
! Self Instructional Written Material:
The printed study material (written in
self-instructional style) for both theory
and practical components of the
programmes is supplied to the
learners in batches for every course.
! Audio-Visual Material Aids: The
learning package contains audio and
video CDs which have been produced
by the University for better clarification
and enhancement of understanding of
the course material given to the
learners. A video programme is
normally of 25-30 minutes duration.
The video cassettes are screened at
the study centres during specific
sessions which are duly notified for the
benefit of the learners.
! Counseling Sessions: Normally
counseling sessions are held as per
schedule drawn by the Study Centres.
These are mostly held outside the
regular working hours of the host
institutions where the study centres
are located.
! Teleconferences: Live teleconf-
erencing sessions are conducted via
satellite through interactive Video
Conferencing facility (available at
some places) from the University
studios, the schedule of which is made
available at the study centres.
! Industrial Training/Practicals/
Project Work: Some programmes
have industrial training/ practical/
project component also. Practicals are
held at designated institutions for
which schedule is provided by the
Study Centres. Attendance at
practicals is compulsory. For project
work, comprehensive project guide, in
the form of a booklet, is provided to the
student alongwith the study materials.

The printed study material will be dispatched
periodically to the enrolled students for each
paper of study. These materials will be as
guide for the students for effective learning.
The Assignments for internal assessment
shall also be dispatched along with the study
material. Online modules are also available
for some of the courses. These are in
progress and as and when available, these
will be available on the website of the
students for registered candidates.
The counseling sessions will be of 30 days
duration for a course in a year. The actual
schedule and place of contact program shall
be announce and communicated to students
in-time.
2.3 EVALUATION SYSTEM
The system of evaluation in Open and
Distance Learning System is also different
from that of conventional system. CVRU has
a multi-tire system of evaluation.
1. Self-assessment exercises within
each unit of study.
2. Continuous evaluation mainly through
assignments which are tutor-marked,
p r a c t i c a l a s s i g n m e n t s a n d
seminar/workshops/extended contact
programmes.
3. The term-end examinations.
4. Project works
The evaluation of learners depends upon
various instructional activities undertaken by
them. A learner has to write assignment
responses compulsorily before taking term-
end examination from time to time to
complete an academic programme. A learner
has to submit TMA responses to the
Coordinator of the Study Centre concerned
to which she/he is attached. A learner should
keep duplicate copies of assignment
responses of TMA that may be required to be
produced at Student Evaluation Division on
demand. Term-end examinat ion is
conducted at various examination centers
spread all over the country and abroad in July
and January.

Information Technology is one of the most
important industries in the Indian economy.
The IT industry of India has in the last ten
years grown at an average annual rate of
30% making it currently a Rs. 400,000 crore
industry. Unlike other common industries,
the IT industry is knowledge-based and the
efficient utilization of skilled labor forces in
the IT sector can help an economy achieve a
rapid pace of economic growth. The IT
industry helps many other sectors in the
growth process of the economy including
the services and manufacturing sectors.
The right kind of certification in the relevant
IT technology can help enhance career
prospects - greater remuneration, more
challenging job profiles, better career path
and increased job security. Certifications
are objective measurements of skills and
hence easy to use when it comes to
comparing and contrasting the talent pool.
In some cases it becomes the critical
distinguishing factor when candidates have
similar skill sets and experience.
The Academy for IT & Management with the
CVRU certification gives an aspiring IT
professional a boost in his career. The
programs have been specially designed to
address the IT industry needs and open up
prospects in the areas of IT Services,
Software - both Engineering and R&D and
ITES-BPO space.

4.4 ACADEMY FOR
INSURANCE, BANKING
AND FINANCE
The banking and financial system of the
country plays a substantial role in
promoting the long term growth of the
economy. In India, Financial sector reforms
were initiated as part of overall economic
reforms in the country and wide ranging
reforms covering industry, trade, taxation,
external sector, banking and financial
markets have been carried out since mid
1991. Two decades of economic and
financial sector reforms have strengthened
the fundamentals of the Indian economy
and transformed the operating environment
of banks and financial institutions. Banking
and insurance sector contributed 6% of
GDP during the year ended 2008 in India.
Today, the Banking, Financial Services and
Insurance (BFSI) sector in India forms the
very backbone of Indian economy and has
been growing at a rapid pace as the
penetration of Insurance and Banking
sectors in India still remains low. According
to a study conducted by FICCI, the
penetration of banking services stands at
35% in India, which is much lesser than
other countries. On the other hand, the
Indian life insurance market is still under-
penetrated and far from maturity. In 2008, it
constituted approximately 4% of the
country's GDP, as compared to the life
insurance penetration rate of around 8%-
10% of the GDP in other Asian countries.
As the penetration of these services grows
further, especially in hitherto unbanked
rural and semi-urban India, the Indian BFSI
sector is poised for rapid growth in coming
years as well.

l Developing skilled manpower through
diversified courses to meet the
requirements of mainly the unorganised
sector
l Instilling self-employment skills in
people through a large number of self
employment oriented courses
Through its industry-matched and need-
based designed courses, CVRU Academy
for Livelihood & Vocational Education
strives to enhance individual employability,
reduce the mismatch between demand and
supply of skilled manpower in the context of
higher global and domestic demands in
emerging economic scenario.

AGRICULTURE
Agriculture is the means of livelihood for around
two thirds of the work force of India. This makes
it one of the most important sectors of the
economy. At the time of independence, the
revenue from the agricultural sector was quite
low compared to what it is today. The main
reason for the increase in revenue is the
increase in agricultural production that was
brought about by the Green Revolution. The
Green Revolution of the 70's was responsible
for bringing additional area under cultivation,
extending irrigation facilities, providing better
quality seeds,

improving techniques of farming and plant

Currently the agriculture contribution in the gross
domestic product (GDP) is 14.8%. Agriculture in
India is the key sector for generating employment
opportunities for majority of the population.
Presently agriculture sector provides employment
to about 52% of the workforce of the country.
Agribusiness is a big business. People with a
business background are needed and employed as :
marketing and merchandising specialists; sales
representatives; agricultural economists;
accountants; finance managers, and; commodity
traders, just to name a few. And that's still not all.
Other career possibilities exist in the areas of
communications and education, social services and
agricultural production and even though food
production often takes center stage, textiles and
fibers also makeup a large portion of the agricultural
industry.

TEACHERS TRAINING
Education is the corner stone of democracy.
Being the largest democracy in the world,
India has to go a long way in becoming a
nation of fully literate and skilled people.
However, due to availability of large number
of trainable, hard working, English friendly
base, India has become a popular
destination for outsourced jobs. But a nation
is built by doing its own work, raising its own
industries and manpower for its own needs.
In this context, the Government of India's
ambitious target of generating 500 million
skilled workers by 2022 is quite laudable
and again brings in light the issue of
availability of those many instructors /
teachers to train these many people on
skills, interpersonal relations and other
important aspects.

IODE follows the `Credit System for its programs.
Each credit in our system is equivalent to 30 hours of
study comprising all learning activities (i.e.. reading
and comprehending the print material, attending
counselling sessions, writing assignment and
practicals responses). Thus, a four-credit course
involves 120 hours of study. This helps the learner
judge the academic effort required to successfully
complete a course.

As the Indian economy is projected to grow
at around 7-8% per annum for the next
decade or so, there will be a huge
requirement for adequately skilled
manpower across all sectors. According to
National Skill Development Corporation
(NSDC), there is a need to train around 500
million people in India by the year 2022, for
job openings across various sectors. Some
of the sectors which are estimated to drive
the growth of the economy as well as play a
significant role in employment are:
! IT AND ITES
! EDUCATION AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT
SERVICES
! TEXTILES
! AGRICULTURE
! ELECTRONICS AND IT HARDWARE
! ORGANISED RETAIL
! BANKING, FINANCIAL SERVICES AND
INSURANCE
! UNORGANISED SECTOR EMPLOYMENT
In addition to this, a recent report issued by the
World Bank states that India creates around 70
lac jobs every year. All these facts point to the
conclusion that for an adequately skilled
person, there is no dearth of job opportunities at
all levels of skill in each Industry. Furthermore,
the maximum requirement of skilled persons is
at the Entry Level in each Industry. However,
currently, majority of job portals and placement
consultants focus on the urban market, catering
to the requirement of higher levels of skills.
As AISECT the parent organisation of CVRU
has been the pioneer of skill development and
training in trades such as IT, ITES, Electronics
and Hardware, Vocational skills, mainly in the
unorgan ized sec to r space , A ISECT
understands the skill requirements of rural and
semi-urban geographies very well. Also, backed
by 27 years of experience and interaction with
job seekers and employers all over the country
coupled with an in-depth knowledge and
understanding of rural and semi-urban India,
AISECT is well equipped to bridge the demand
and supply gap in the job market in these areas.

ROJGAR MANTRA offers Placement
Support through the following two important
components:
1. ROJGAR MANTRA Placement Portal:
This is a state of the art Placement portal
developed by AISECT, to cater to the job
requirements in rural and semi-urban
areas. Industries in these areas have
great difficulties in hiring the candidates
suiting their requirements. Moreover,
bigger companies, while expanding into
semi-urban and rural India, face barriers
in recruiting the right manpower and
retaining them, predominantly because
the job market is highly unorganized and
fragmented in these markets. Rojgar
Mantra seeks to address exactly this
issue. The portal offers following
services to job seekers:
a. Search & Apply: Rojgar Mantra
helps you to reach a huge pool of
relevant companies and jobs suiting
your qualification and skill sets. The
job portal is associated with a large
number of organizations and
companies looking for candidates
from small towns and cities for their
local requirements.
b. Resume Builder: Rojgar Mantra's
resume builder service offers easy
and quick access to an auto-
generated bio-data in a standard
format and equips you with better
presentation during job application
and interviews.
c. Resume Booster: Rojgar Mantra
helps you to get your resume
prepared by a panel of experts. The
experts' personal attention and
contribution to hone your resume
enables you to perfectly reflect your
personality and portray clearly your
career goals. This gives you an
opportunity of being spotted among
thousands of candidates.
d. Resume Forwarding: Rojgar
Mantra finds the most relevant jobs
for you and forwards your resume,
thus increasing the chances of
conversation. You will
36
-
have Companies directly contacting
you after viewing your suitability to
their vacancy.
e. Preparing for Jobs: Fetching your
dream job requires not only
q u a l i f i c a t i o n s , b u t a l s o a
presentable personality which is a
combination of confidence, public
speaking skills, leadership and
other aspects. Rojgar Mantra
equips you with the mantras to
become the most eligible candidate
for the job you desire and grooms
you to give a convincing start to your
career.

regular job fairs at District/ Divisional
Level to ensure maximum face to face
interaction of students with Companies.
These job fairs will be organized by
ROJGAR MANTRA National office with
the support of State Level Teams. These
job fairs will target both National level
employers as well as State Level
employers. Interviews shall be conducted
for screened candidates by employers
during these job fairs. The job fairs will be
a one/ two day event, depending on the
nature of programs and roles available
with employers. These job fairs can also
be conducted for a specific company or
Industry's requirements.
In addition to the job fairs, placement
drives, assisted by ROJGAR MANTRA
team, will be conducted frequently by
AISECT-CVRU Center Managers. The
job fairs and placement drives conducted
by ROJGAR MANTRA will provide a
distinct edge to AISECT-CVRU students
in terms of job opportunities available for
them.
AISECT will leverage on its existing
linkages and further establish contact
with more employers to become
permanent partners of ROJGAR
MANTRA initiatives.
3. ROJGAR MANTRA Employment
Exchanges :
The AISECT centres on ground will also
act as on ICT enabled employment
exchange which would provide on active
and vibrant linkage at field level with
students and employers. Initially all the
District and Block level centres would be
converted into an employment exchange
and then this network could also be
expanded at sub-block level. The
employment exchanges would provide all
support at field level to Rajgar Mantra
activities and reap consequent benefits.

AISECT has already trained around 10 lac
students till date. A large chunk of them
have been placed with various industries,
schools and Govt. sector jobs. Many of
them have gone ahead and taken the route
of entrepreneurship and self-employment.
AISECT, being a network of entrepreneurs,
promotes self-employment in a big way.
Still many have gone ahead and taken up
higher studies after graduating from
AISECT.
ROJGAR MANTRA from AISECT will build
on these strengths and offer continuous
placement support to all AISECT-CVRU
students, so that the students have a better
chance of building a bright future for
themselves.
