Cy Twombly was born in 1928 in Lexington which is in Virginia. I chose to look into this artist as i liked to way his paintings had freely moving lines and he liked to work with no boundaries which i feel helped manufacture his artwork. Twom- bly’s paintings express the progressions through which form and content, text and image are inextri- cably linked together and against. Cy Twombly arrived in Manhattan in 1950 while the New York School painting he was attend- ing was achieving great things and producing the best out of students. Twombly joined the 1951–1952 sessions at Black Mountain College near Asheville, a liberal refuge, a site of free ex- perimentation and exchange during the Cold War which i believe the cold war could of been a great influence to his work and ideas. In 1957, Twombly moved to Rome, where he met the Italian artist Tatiana Franchetti – sister of his patron Baron Giorgio Franchetti. They were married at City Hall in New York in 1959. In 2011, Twombly died in Rome after being hospitalized for several days; he had had cancer for many years. He has a son, Cyrus Alessandro Twombly, who is also a painter and lives in Rome. In Twombly’s career i feel he had alot of influence from life and experiences to declare his feelings on his art and he liked to work without guide lines and use his own feelings to take control.

Cy Twombly was born in 1928 in Lexington which is in Virginia. I chose to look into this artist as i liked to way his paintings had freely moving lines and he liked to work with no boundaries which i feel helped manufacture his artwork. Twom-bly’s paintings express the progressions through which form and content, text and image are inextri-cably linked together and against.

Cy Twombly arrived in Manhattan in 1950 while the New York School painting he was attend-ing was achieving great things and producing the best out of students. Twombly joined the 1951–1952 sessions at Black Mountain College near Asheville, a liberal refuge, a site of free ex-perimentation and exchange during the Cold War which i believe the cold war could of been a great influence to his work and ideas.

This is an interpretation of how i would make a piece like his. I didn’t follow ideas i just made feely movements to allow the best outcome, the final outcome i do like as is very expressive and looking back can be interpretated as i was in a agressive mood relating to colours and lines.

These are my Artist interpretations based on method and influence. I really like the final out-come of this piece as the colour scheme works so well, but using card to create a texture al-lowing the lines to interlock together and look like the colours are spreading accross the page.

The second piece i have used direct lines to cre-ate a painting but then ive overlayed corrugated card ontop to get a textures distorted pattern. Also with the lines not being complete on the page it makes the viewer finish the piece which can work well as it allows my viewers to interact with the peice ive created.

These are my interpretation using his method and technique. I really like the colour scheme and feel its really made the paintings work and be effective, i used cardboard to make the movements in the paints so i could creat a different tex-ture which came off effective and i enjoyed the technique. The image involving the free lines i feel the outcome is very expressive and works well with a bright colour scheme, it looks very congested in the centre which is where the eye is drawn to, from this i made the connection to the traffic congestion which lead me to London. Although i needed a way of presenting the congestion which i used a underground map which is meant to be simple to easy to read but still turns out to be busy. I used lines to connect to transport and construct a clear method of transport.

This is the outcome i produced from working with Cy Twomlbys work and linking it to my theme of transport. I feel the colour scheme and gradual change works with Twombly although the lines i have made have worked well as can be seen what i trying to construct but also make a link to tube map because that does involve a different colours scheme which divides the route from eachother.
