Differences between Cyan and Electric
Electric should be used in Internet Explorer – Chrome, Edge and Firefox are not supported and may behave differently
Action Cyan Electric (using Internet Explorer
1 System Navigation
Collapsible folders / links down in bottom left hand pane
Select via the links on the home page
then folders within each section and links within each folder. The folder you are on, has a black border and a downward arrow. There are two views, three columns or multi columns. This is selected by using the two icons underneath the folders.
2 Select a record
Selecting a record is done in the top left pane of the screen which changes to a list when multiple records exist
The same area of the screen is used when sub-pages are selected, that have multiple records
Selecting a record is done under the organisation list on the left had side and more than one selection can be shown.
3 Multiple Search
Multiple search criteria – click on plus beside first criteria
Only one search criteria - Advanced search in the three ellipsis menu, must be used if you wish to search multiple criteria (surname and forename)
4 Include leavers when selecting an employee
Tick box appears above search fields to include leavers
Click on ellipsis (3 dots) to right of People for option to include leavers
5 Return to home page
Click on home icon at top left or top right
Click on the iTrent logo at the top of the left hand pane menu
6 Return to previous screens
Click or right click on the ‘breadcrumb’ path along top of the screen
Click on menu button on the screen to show links within current folder, or click on employee’s name at the top of the screen or in the selection bar at the side to return to the ‘person’ home page

7 Dead Ends Not Applicable You will find screens in Electric that once you are on it is impossible to get out of. The only way to sort this is to click on the home page and start from the start of navigation.
8 Left hand pane
Can be widened by clicking and dragging to the right as far as you want
Can be widened by clicking 3 vertical lines half way down the left hand pane to half page maximum
Can be collapsed completely by clicking the

Fields don’t resize so you have to hover over the record to see what the information is
9 Links Links tab on homepage
There are no links in Electric, screens are accessed via menus or using the search facility
NB. All screens you have access to will display under find iTrent pages. This may be more than what you can see using the system navigation links.
10 Multiple tabs / views
Option to have multiple tabs open within one iTrent window
At top of screen click icon to open a new tab in your internet browser
If you close the original tab, all tabs will close

Effective date
Date entered into effective date field at top of the screen
Effective date pop up appears twice on the screen. Either at the top of the left hand pane or in the title of the page you are on
12 Date fields Can enter T directly into the field for today, or click to get calendar displayed
Clicking “today” – enters today’s date
Enter T and click ok or click on calendar
Clicking today – enters today’s date You have to click ok – enter doesn’t work
13 Field Widths Fields are generally as wide as they need be
Fields are only as wide as can be shown on a phone screen. You need to click in the field and scroll right

15 Personal and employment cards
On most screen, basic information about the employee can be seen by clicking the black head icon
Nothing on the individual screens but a summary card is available that shows basic details about the employee
Clicking on the bolded text, takes you directly in to the screen which holds that information. The details of the employment shown are valid as of today. Not the effective date that is entered. This means that leavers will not show any details on this screen.
16 Finding Screens
The results of which are shown in the main screen
Allows you to search for iTrent screens with key words. Screens can be tagged with our own key words to help us find them. Details are shown in the left-hand pane
17 To Change Roles
To switch roles you select from the drop down
To Switch roles click on the head in the top Right corner
18 Spinning Wheel
When iTrent is thinking you get a spinning wheel at the top of the screen
Spinning wheel of death - When a screen hangs this will spin forever
There is a bar at the top of the page that changes colour from left to right in a loop
Train to nowhere - If the screen hangs this will continue to move from left to right forever
19 Processes / to do list
Processes tab and to do list are on the right of home page
Processes / to do tab on bottom of home page on news carousel
20 Carousel / Company News
Does not exist in Cyan Company news articles appear along the bottom of the home page, can scroll through by clicking the left and right arrows.
21 Mini Explorer
In a person’s position you can click on mini explorer to see the post, org unit and structure of where the position sits
This functionality does not exist in Electric. To find a positions post you have to go to Structure > Positions > <Select a position> then on the three dots above you will get mini explorer that works in the same way as cyan
22 Screen Size The font size in Cyan is configurable so by and large most screens fit on a page and when print icon is pressed
The screen will print as shown
The font size is not configurable. On most screens there is no issues but on certain screens there may be an issue where the data disappears on the right-hand side of the screen. To view this either use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom or reduce the size of the Zoom in the browser settings until the whole screen shows. When print is pressed
Again, on most screens the print will show the data correctly. If data is being lost on the right-hand side of the print. Select print preview and adjust the size of the print until the full screen will print
