Tenants storiesW moved into his Homelife home in December 2012 and is now working for TCUK Property Services, refurbishing homes for future tenants , “I love my job and my home, I never dreamed of having this, this time last year my life was a mess and now its mint”. This is W’s first job since leaving school, he is now 32 and has spent 12 years in prison.  Leading a more independent life.  His relationship with his girlfriend is steady and now has access to his daughter.

H moved into his Homelife home with his 15 year old daughter in May 2013. H has started work with a cleaning company through The Cyrenians Employment team. He has lived in emergency accommodation since the break up of his marriage 13 months ago. Having a job and a lovely home means H’s other four children can stay at weekends. H said “The Cyrenians are the best landlords I’ve ever had, I love this place it is fantastic to have my own front door and posh kitchen”.

E had been evicted many times from previous tenancies, this was due to unidentified poor literacy and mild learning difficulties.  E moved into her new Homelife home with her two daughters in January 2013. The girls were truants. The correct support has been put in place and the family is thriving. The girls have changed schools and attend each day, E has started to do training courses and looking for part time work.  E feels she has more confidence, she takes pride in her new home and taken up gardening and growing her own vegetables.  E has been to the rent office twice on her own to sort out her rent arrears, something she would never do before.

“I feel like we’re a normal family now, the girls love having their own bedrooms for the first time in their lives, my garden is better than anyone’s in the street and I feel so happy.”
