    Authors Notes

We met, fell in love, danced for a while, and gave birth toDaisy and Sky. Daisy and Sky are contemplative Polar Bearswho aspire to living in the present moment, and probing themysteries of life on this planet and beyond. The authors oftenrefer to them as Oracle Bears, awakening intoconsciousness.

We have chosen to share one of our many stories in this firstbook, because the number 1 symbolically represents newbeginnings. In a larger sense, beginnings can be bothpersonal, and also planetary achievements.

Our primary characters, Daisy and Sky, believe that they areonto two things... the collective upliftment of Earth and herlife forms to a better place, and that they have an inside

scoop, a direct pipeline of sorts to Creation itself. So theychoose to live their lives together from a posture of

unconditional love, respect for one another and for all life, everywhere. Within this belief is contained the truth thatwith the endings of old ways, come exciting, and whole newbeginnings.

We believe that every day can be an adventure, given the

appropriate attitudes and mind sets. We believe that ourfuture demands peace now, and that this begins within eachone of us, and peace may be achieved through heart centeredthought and through much understanding, open dialog, andright collective action.

    Chapter 1About Bears and Squirrels

Now,being polar bears,Daisy and Skylar Bear havespent a considerable amount of time understandinghumans. You know, they figure out what makeshumans think and do the things they do, andunderstand what makes them who they are.

At times, Daisys excursions into the humans worldhave been both confusing and uplifting. This is oneof those uplifting times, to say the least, from theperspective of a Polar Bear, when the very best ofhumanity is being represented.

To Daisy Bear, time doesnt mean squat. Shechooses to live in each moment, which she can onlyrelate to as a now. Squat as Daisy currently

understands it, is a human term reserved to describe

    1 About Bears and Squirrels

  • 8/6/2019 D & S Revolution5

    10/47

what polar bears and other animals do when theycrouch low to avoid detection by other animals, human dogsledders or snow mobilers. Daisys mate,Skylar Bear would say that it might also refer to

when a bears gotta do what a bears gotta do.

Most of the time, polar bears are busy enough beingthe very force of life itself. Daisys admiration for

living life from other, more different expressions, has set her apart from most other Arctic animals, as well as human beings. Learning to fully live thisdifference resulted in her leaving the Arcticexperience, and living, at least for a few nows, amongst humans.

Daisy met Skylar Bear when she was only 2 daysaway from the Arctic. She was full of wonder andhope and besides, her soul was calling for her tobecome more courageous. She met Sky while

window shopping for her new home. Sky felt herenergy, liked her smile, and recognized herimmediately.

Ive been waiting for you my whole life. Lets bepolar explorers, instead of polar bears! Skylar Bearsaid on the day that they met, and with thatstatement, Daisys arctic life ended.

    11/47

She has now settled in with humans on the windy,Eastern seaboard of North America. There, she andSky live in a small bungalow home and explore bothhuman and bear life together.Daisy has since become an uncommon icon in the

world of human children, almost a hero, for whereelse but in human culture, could a bear, a Polar Bear, for that matter, become recognized and respected for

    her many contributions to humanity?

Within this recognition, Daisys status as a hero tosome children in the knowbecame the talk amongstmany other animals, especially squirrels, which sheand children would affectionately call geegowahs.Geegowah is a word that is commonly known only topolar bears, squirrels and a very select number ofhuman beings. In the humans world, geegowahs are

called squirrels. These many geegowahs, would oftenchatter amongst themselves, relaying stories that oneor more of them had usually heard carried uponfleeting winds.

Skylar Bear often refers to the geegowahs as naturesnews reporters. He is aware that most humansperceive the squirrels function to be limited togathering acorns for a long winter. Sky is somewhat

more expansive in the idea that squirrels gathermuch more than acorns in their daily routines... they

    are information carriers.

If you really want to know whats going on, Daisy, ask Melody, the geegowah reporter! Skylar Bearoften remarks, usually in response to Daisys manyquestions about human life. After all, Daisy, geegowahs are just as connected to the naturalenergy and communications network along with

other animals and Indigo human children... the webof life, I call it! Sky says.

Only 13 months her elder, in human measurements,Sky is not necessarily wiser than Daisy, but he knows

what he knows and delights in answering almost anyquestion that Daisy presents.

In doing so, both bears often rise to a higher andclearer understanding of life by sharing their verybest mutual understandings. Daisy likes herrelationship with Sky, and she also treasures herlearning experiences. Besides,a human named Papa-gi, who is the source and inspiration of thisparticular tale, raised Sky.

Why would a human being end up raising a polarbear? Its a long story in itself. One day, Papa-gi wasflying his small plane, delivering mail far North in the

Arctic, and he looked down only to find a very small

    4 About Bears and Squirrels

  • 8/6/2019 D & S Revolution5

    13/47

polar bear who had lost his way from the others ofhis species.

Papa had room in the plane, and finding no otherbears around to raise the youngster, found it in hisheart to strap young Polarinto the passenger seat ofthe Cessna 172 bush plane. Maybe it was themessage in the winds,or the look in the young bears

eyes that day, but from that day on, they wereinseparable. Papa-gi called him Sky, because the skyand flying have always been two of Papas loves.

Since the time of their meeting, Daisy has alwaysbeen quite curious about this special, elderly humangentleman that has raised and educated her friend,Skylar Bear.

Now, Daisy is sitting under a tree, reading, andlistening to all of the background chattering from thegeegowahs who sit in the lofty foliage, above.

Ask him.You have to ask him to tell you both thestory! they say, almost in unison.

Ask who?Daisy responds, still focusing on the bookthat she has been reading.

You must ask the old human you know, the

    5 About Bears and Squirrels

    geegowahs chatter.

Ask who, what? Daisy snaps back, now totallydistracted from the first human book that she hastaken the time to read in many nows.

You know who, Daisy! Skys human father theone who raised him, Melody Squirrel replied.

He has been waiting to tell you both a story fromlong ago, in human time. You must ask him, howeverto tell it, because you both need to hear it, and shareit with Earths children of all ages. Its important forthem to know their human connections to theirancestors Melody continues. Always the reporter,Melody remains true to her perceived function as anextraordinary geegowah.

Daisy is speechless for a few more nows, looking upinto the treetops. Her book takes on lesserimportance, as she suddenly realizes that her nextlearning assignment has gently and literally beendropped from above, by a bunch of chatty squirrels.

And so our story begins, presented in this now, fromcenturies of human time and in the oral tradition.

    Chapter 2The Journey

Morning time comes quite quickly for Daisy and SkyBear. One quick telephone call earlier the previousnight with Papa-gi has set the course of destiny thisday. After all, there is apparently a story to hear, according to the squirrels.

The sight of two polar bears driving a small whiteJeep down the turnpike has become a rather routinepart of the adventures of Daisy and Sky. The Jeepspaint job sparkles in the morning sun. It is either thebears themselves, or the plenitude of multicoloreddaisies adorning the paint job of their vehicle thatdraws the usual reaction from the human public,

wherever the bears travel. Daisy really doesnt care

about being noticed, but is none-the-less rathercurious about all the gawking from passers by onthis trip in particular.

Its the Daisies on the side of the car,Sky jokes withher, as he pretends to overlook that here are twopolar bears, driving a rather unusual old Jeep down amajor interstate highway in North America. Thebumper sticker on the back of her auto says Im a

    Vegetarian.

    7 The Journey

  • 8/6/2019 D & S Revolution5

    16/47

Daisy smiles. She rather likes doing certain thingsthat people do, however in her own way and time.Driving the Daisymobile is no exception. Daisysrather unique car has been created by Sky and hishuman friends by replacing the old Jeep 8 cylinderengine with a small Volkswagen diesel engine whichruns on recycled vegetable oil.

It will be good for the environment she wasoverheard saying one day, not too long before herPolar Bear boyfriend was seen in the garage with atorch.

Weeks after the Daisymobile was reassembled andtested, a clean coat of non-toxic white painttransformed the vehicle into what it is today. Daisy

has added her own flowers to the paint job,and therest is history. Real, environmentally responsible, andcute, too. Thats how Daisy likes it. She thinks abouthow great it is now, powering down the highway ina car running on discarded french fry oil.

Were on the way to visit my human father, whotaught me how to drive when I was quite little.People are just as shocked by the notion that polarbears are as sentiently able to drive, as aliens fromthe Zeta Reticulae star system are able to navigate

    8 The Journey

    17/47

and explore the cosmos and Earth, Sky interjects, breaking the silence.

Daisy registers a really big bear smile! The mention ofalien beings doesnt make Daisy flinch, either. Bycomparison, she has seen some rather strange formsof human behavior since joining the humanexperience several years ago. Its not the aliens that

bother Daisy as much as the secrets andspecialness with which some of her humancounterparts carry themselves, particularly theleaders and those who feel a need to separatethemselves into a more deeper illusion within thehuman society, that concern her.

Whats the big deal? Daisy now says.

As a bear, I realize that there are other species whoexist, and have that right. Earth isnt the only placethat life flourishes. Humans have far too manysecrets kept by their so called governmental leadersto keep up the illusion of safety and security as aliveand falsely predominant, she says as thespeedometer on the Jeep hovers approaching 75miles per hour.

Whoa, there, Captain! Sky says as he notices theeffect of Daisys furry toes on the Jeeps accelerator.

    9 The Journey

  • 8/6/2019 D & S Revolution5

    18/47

Well still get there on time at 65!

What is it with all these rules, Sky? In the arctic, ifwe have to stampede, we stampede. There are nolimits in the natural world. At least we dont run intoanything or any other animal, and we leave our metaland oil in the ground, where it belongs!

Humans have a saying, Daisy, and it goes like this:when in Rome, do as the Romans do, Skylar Bearretorts.

I call it a case of the blind leading the blind, and byhaving those in positions of power making the rules, people think it is okay to give their power away. Inthe Arctic, there arent any big shots... there are just alot of shots. People need to love themselves, take

responsibility for it, and stop forcing themselvesupon nature! Daisy yells out as the flowered Jeepreturns back to 65 miles per hour.

The journey to Papa-gis house goes quickly this day,and before our two heroes can say whale blubber, they have arrived at Papas place. Papa is at the door

with his usual grand smile, drawn by the exhaustnote and gear whine from the flower mobile as it

    approaches.

    10 The Journey

  • 8/6/2019 D & S Revolution5

    19/47

Sky realizes that Daisys approach to Papas drivewayreminds him of Papa-gis old 47 Willys Jeep. Besidesthe sky and flight, two more truths exist in Papa-gis

world the glory of the automobile, and great heart. If you had one of these truths, lucky you were. And if

you had both truths truly alive, well blessed were youas a being!

As much as she enjoyed driving in this human part ofher journey, the automobile means very little toDaisy Bear. But, when it comes to heart, that issomething that interests Daisy. It is perhaps heartthat had initially set Sky in her path. And Papa-gi hadtaught the young Skylar Bear how to be of strongmind and open heart. There is no car alive (or dead, for that matter) that Sky cant fix. He calls it healing.

Fixing is something one has to do for themselves. The same goes with healing, Daisy remembers Skyoften saying.

A bear hug is in order, here,Papa-gi shouts from thedoor as Daisy jumps out and runs over to greet theman who has raised her Sky Bear from cub to adult.

Come in! Come in, you two!Papa says.

Are you growling, Dad? Hows my old Bear doing?

    11 The Journey

Papa laughs.Well, son, Im slowing down a bit, letssee, in bear years thats 88 times the bear to humanconversion factor, less 29, the youth factor, that

would be Im tired Papa says seriously.

    Sky smiles.

Glad to see you, Dad! he says. Daisy and I arethrilled to celebrate this day with you. Whats forlunch? Did you make that hot minestrone soup thatDaisy loves? Even though you put a little meat in itlast time, Daisy eats it while picking out the beefpieces. What matters to her is that you make it from

    your heart!

Papa-gi belly laughs. He has always found deep soul

in true humor, and has lived his life accordingly. Hesalways glad to see the kids, again!

Mama is waiting in the kitchen to see you two!Papa-gi continues as the three enter the living room.

Daisy likes visiting humans who truly care. Life as abear in a foreign world has been rather tough onDaisy, and she is learning not to flinch so much.

What has most helped Daisy is learning to accept

herself for being unusual and to be totally okay withher beautiful differences. Papa silently approves ofDaisys character and her interest in being in hissons life.

Mama has prepared a delightfully delicious dinnerfor the two bears, who have learned to be incrediblecooks in their own right. Mamas food is a universe

away from the raw fish and seal blubber that Daisycan remember eating as a cub child. After dinner,Mama suggests that everyone gather in the livingroom to catch up on family sharing.

    Chapter 3

    Time Traveling

Many nows pass by during the sharing of stories ofall the adventures that everyone had been up tosince the last time they gathered as a family. It isgetting late in the afternoon, and Daisy, sensingsomething almost magically alive in the room, asks:

Papa-gi is there anything that you want to sharewith us before we depart?

Papa-gi thinks for a very short now, and says:

Sky, heres a story that I bet you didnt know aboutyour human familys history!

Although Skylar is still a bear, Papa-gi has alwaysconsidered him to be a member of the family. And

with this, everybody in the room is intently focusedupon Papa-gi. The room comes alive with a story.

And as the story begins to unfold, everything in theroom becomes very quiet, and Daisy and Sky areaware that they are gently being transported back intime.

Almost 228 years of human time have traversed

    14 Time Traveling

  • 8/6/2019 D & S Revolution5

    23/47

since the time of Papa-gis story. As Daisy closes hereyes, she loses awareness that she is sitting in theliving room. Now she is transported back in time bythe feeling of warm breezes that had blown so longago across the fields west of the land which is nowcalled The Sleeping Giant,

Daisy can see the gentle hills, and hear the sound of

horses feet, crackling with great intent on the leavesand sticks beneath their feet. She feels the spirit inthe air of many courageous souls beginning a newstart in a place that is about to become a country, sovereign only to itself, and the ideals of freedom, and her peoples.

The horse drawn cart leaves the simple, dirt path, and begins its ascent into the woods which close off

the pasture land below. This was Papa-gis originalancestors land in this country. Papa-gis great, great, great, great, great grandmother, Sarah Jocelynnervously supervises her familys escape from thefarm that have become their home. The children aresilent as George, her husband, skillfully drives theteam of horses around each approaching tree in theforest.

Stop, George! Stop NOW! Sarah yells.

The children, now mesmerized from staring at theswaying motion of horses tails a few feet ahead of

where their parents sit in the cart, are startled bySarahs voice. They turn around and see their familysfarmhouse through the trees, below in the meadow.

George pulls back on the reins, and the work horsesobey the command. The team is now breathing quite

heavily, and have stopped with Sarahs family just afew feet inside another clearing in the forest.

George! I forgot our silverware back at thefarmhouse. You must go back and secure it, beforethey come! Sarah panics.

You would want me to go back, now?George says, his accent of the German aristocracy from his youth

was now blending with the 1700s colonial dialectwhich has been so much a part of this New Worldexperience.

It is all that I have from my lineage.Yes, you must!Sarah implores her devoted husband of 12 years.

Very well, then be it!he proclaims. I will pull thehorses and cart further into the forest. Stay hidden

in its midst, and mind the childrens silence. We mustnot be discovered. It is not safe, now!

The children dare not to utter one word. They haveoverheard the elders fearfully speaking less than anhour ago, and the warnings still echo in theirawareness which have just carried from farm to farm:The British are coming! The British Regulars arecoming! We must flee to the hills and hide!

The children have not known war in their brief

lifetimes. The adults had sought the offers of a newstart in the New World, and their souls longed for thefreedom which had eluded them in the countries oftheir ancestry. George was raised in Germany. As a

young teen he had been formally schooled inmathematics, entering the University near Stuttgart atthe young age of 17. He had studied with some ofthe finest architectural minds from France in the Old

World, and had brought both design skills, willing

hands, and a strong back when he journeyed acrossthe Atlantic Ocean, first to New York, and later in theConnecticut Colony settlement at New Haven. He

was a master of stone, and architecture. But now, hewas considered to be one of the New Patriots, and aloving father who was being asked to go back to thefarmhouse from which he has just f led the imminentapproach of foreign soldiers.

Daisys eyes are still closed in the room, and for aninstant, she is aware that she, as a polar bear, has no

concept or experience of war either. Her mindraces, and she can not fathom these feelings, sinceher inner world nowadays is so peaceful. The storysattraction recaptures her awareness, and she againdrifts back within the time machine evoked byPapas story from so long ago...

George begins his descent on foot down through the

fields to get back to the farmhouse. He turns aroundjust once to see whether his family and the horsesare safely hidden within the forest.

Good!he thinks. They will be safe for a while.

I hope I can get the silver and get back very soon!he continues to think. As he approaches the house,he enters the front yard only to find a number of

Hessian soldiers pointing their muzzle loadingmuskets at him.

Attention! one of the soldiers shouts, as Georgefreezes in his tracks.

Twenty soldiers surround him. Being a man ofpeace, George figures he best do what they ask him.He can not help but think that if he remains

captured, his family might not be safe in the forest. His mind floods with imaginings.

The soldier in charge motions for George to go insidethe house, where the Hessian leader sits at thekitchen table, reviewing orders from Britishauthorities. The orders are for his men to burn thecity settlement of New Haven to the ground. As theHessian General raises his eyes from the orders andmap on the table in front of him, he notices Georgebeing escorted into the room at gun point.

The Hessian Colonel has no sooner arrived here, andalready a prisoner has been captured. He has moreimportant matters to carry out this night, he isthinking!

Yorrick! the Colonel shouts, referring to George.

George recognizes the name that had been given

him upon birth so many years ago in Germany. Herehe is,now an American Patriot, standing at gun pointin front of a man who seems to know who he is!

The Colonel now addresses George in English

George, dont you remember me from theUniversity where we studied architecture together?George pauses for a few nows, a seeming eternity,

and smiles. The Colonel smiles and asks George aquestion.

    What are YOU doing here?

I would like to ask YOU and your men the samequestion, since this is MY house!George replies.

The Hessian Colonel blinks. His mouth drops open. Here he is, sent by the British Crown with orders toburn down a major Colonial American settlement,

and has somehow sailed his way to the doorstep of acollege friend from decades ago in Germany.

But George,he says I am so glad to see you. Putdown your muskets, men! the Colonel orders.

Come sit down here with me, George. It has beenfar too long a time since we have talked, the Hessianleader says.

George is very curious about just how this is allgoing to work out. Part of his awareness is feelingthat he is happy to see his old friend fromarchitectural school. But the greater part of him, therealistic part of him, is aware that he must somehowattempt to make an escape, and return and hide withhis family even deeper in the forest to escape theinvaders from England and now, Germany. While

silently and quickly mulling this all over in his mind, something happens very quickly. George has a plan.

    Chapter 4Party Time!

Colonel, you and your soldiers must be quite thirstyfrom your very long travel, yes? George now asks.

Most assuredly so, my old friend, the Colonelreplies. I long for a tall cup of rum or American

whiskey. Do you have any? asks the Colonel.

No, my wife doesnt approve of whiskey, but Ihappen to know where there are several barrels ofthe finest homemade elderberry wine in all of the 13Colonies. I think that is what the British are comingover here to conquer! George laughingly boasts.

The Colonel laughs very loudly. He is glad to see his

old friend. At the Architectural Academy in Germany,he and George had been the very best of friends, almost inseparable, until destiny upon graduation setthe two apart with different life paths. One was tobecome an architect in the New World, helping tobuild a new city The other was to become a soldierof fortune and elevated to the rank of Colonel, anarchitect contracted to enforce policy in theexpansion of the largest empire in over a thousand

    years.

Come with me, my old friend. Come down into mycellar, where the finest wine this colony can offer is

waiting for us and your men, George beckons.

George has set the trap.He has decided exactly whatneeds to be done. His love for his family and his newcountry have, just moments before, become the

overriding priority. Georges plan is to get theHessian soldiers so drunk, that they will fall asleep, and he will then escape. He is not sure if this will

work, but he is certainly going to give this his besteffort!

In the cellar, there are now many thirsty men. Sohomesick have they become from being such a long

way from home, that the smell of Georges

homemade wine is far too great a temptation for thelikes of both officers and enlisted men. George asks the Colonel jokingly as the barrels ofwine quickly disappear

Say, why didnt King George come over with yourboat and conquer us himself? Although George is

joking, he asks the question quite seriously.

Most of the British are cowards, including the

Crown. To us, this is just another job! the Colonelloudly stutters. The elderberry wine is now taking agrip on his senses.

    Everybody roars with great laughter.

I always liked you,George, and you always had timeto help me with my studies and homework! theColonel boasts.

The Hessian troops in the cellar roar even louder!

You no what, George? I think you have a greatidea! the Colonel whispers in Georges ear as heleans closer.

I think that the King of England should sail overhere by himself and burn New Haven down!

George suddenly realizes the gravity of the current

situation. His farmhouse was not the only target ofattack! George begins to see the larger plan that theGerman soldiers are being hired to do by the British!

You know what, my friend? the Hessian Colonelnow asks. Since I like you so much, and always have,I cannot find it in my heart or mind to inflict painupon you,or your family!

The soldiers in the room, although now very drunk, immediately become quiet. You can now even heara small cricket chirping, over in the corner, on thecellars dirt floor.

You are a wise man, George, the Colonelemphatically states. If the King wants New Havenburned, he will have to do it himself! I cant STAND

    cowards!

George doesnt know what to make of this! He isalmost frozen in a place between fear andhopefulness. He looks right into the eyes of his oldfriend, who now is holding a precious, almostsupreme power.

His old classmate from the university pauses and

    winks.

Attention! All you thirsty soldiers of fortune! Takeyour last drink! We must set sail within the hour! Weare to move to the Port of Baltimore. We have foundnothing worth burning here this day!

The soldiers raise their glasses one last time. Georgepours another round of drinks,as he realizes that theelderberries had been really beautiful last year, and

that perhaps there was a reason for it, after all. Hehas always been able to see the hidden beauty

within such simplicity. George thanks theelderberries, silently, for being up to this moment.

Thank you all for visiting us today! George shoutsout, as he raises his glass, now toasting all the foreignsoldiers. Long live Germany... and long live theColonies, now united!

Long live us all the Colonel toasts, as his head rollsfrom side to side from the wine. He whispers againin Georges ear Would you like some of yoursilverware back, my friend?

It would make this whole situation much easier toexplain to my wife! George implores.Very well, then. Captain! Let our friend select the

very best of this family silverware as payment for hisrelease!

George sighs a breath of relief as he watches theHessian soldiers march away through the field.Theirship has been moored off New Haven Harbor. He

wonders if he will ever see his friend again.

His thoughts now collect around him, restoring anew focus upon his family up on the hill, who bynow, he surmises, are quite worried about him.

He grasps the wooden box now holding all but twoof the place settings from the kitchen table wherethe Hessians had left it, and George runs as fast as hecan out the door, back up to the woods where hisfamily is anxiously awaiting.

Safely reunited with his family, George stays withthem in the hills for a few days until it is deemed safeto resume life again at the farmhouse.

    Chapter 5Now, Home Again

Daisys head is spinning as Papa-gi pauses and smiles, concluding his story.

I dont know if the historians and academic people would go along with this or not! Papa-gi says to

Daisy and Sky. But it doesnt really matter, kids, because this has been handed down orally fromgeneration to generation, just like this. With fullrespect for my elders, and those before,I am sticking

with this story with, or without historical approval! To me, its just the way it was. he continues.

    Amazing! Absolutely amazing!Daisy chimes in.

Oh, Sky! You never said that you were raised arounda family who had heroes in its past!Daisy says as shenow looks directly at Sky.

I didnt know anything about this one! Papa hasnever told this to me before now. Sky replies.

Papa-gi smiles. He has planted a rare seed with hischildren. As Daisy and Sky look at one another, they

realize the significance of what has just happened.

    Chapter 6Skys Own Story

Sky breaks the silence in the room. That was someincredible story, Pop! Do you remember whathappened to OUR familys silverware when I was

    young?

Gee,son,Papa-gi replies. Its been a long time! Canyou refresh my memory?

Better than that,Dad! Ill share the story as I recall itSky continues,as he looks at Daisy, now.

When I was little, say twelve human years old, everyone in the family had been sick for many days.Mama was concerned about keeping germs to a

minimum, and she decided to boil all of the familysilverware in a rather large cast iron skillet on thestove. I remember asking her about it, because I hadnever seen anyone do this before.

Sky refocuses upon Daisy, who is still sitting next tohim on the sofa.

See,I have always been curious,Daisy! He laughs and

continues now with his own story.

Mama Sarah then told me that boiling the silverwarein water would help prevent us all from getting sick, again, because she believed that it would kill all the flugerms. It made sense to me then, but it was whathappened next thats important to share now, especially having just heard Papas story aboutrescuing the familys silver from the Hessian soldiers!

    What happens,next, Sky?Daisy asks.

    Papa-gi and everyone else listens.

Its so ironic, in light of Papas story! Mama Sarahalways was a stickler for attendance in any form,so weall rushed off to church, just glad to be out of the housefor a change. All I can remember is that when we

returned a few hours later, and Papa-gi opened thefront door, all we could see and smell in the house wassmoke! Papa ran into the house, being always brave, and found a red, glowing pan on the electric burner. Asthe smoke slowly cleared, I went in and saw that there

was no longer any silverware in the pan on the kitchenstove! It had apparently melted and had actually boiledaway, completely vaporizing to smoke inside thehouse!

    Wow! Daisy remarks.

Seven generations ago,the silverware was a ransom ofsorts. You know, an exchange of goods for freedom. It

was the price so long ago of saving both a family andthe settlement of New Haven from danger. Friendshipendures. Your human Mom, perhaps innocentlyunaware, released all that was bound before.Everything in the frying pan went up in smoke, just likeNew Haven almost did, as Georges farmhouse might

have, if your ancestor hadnt risked going back to getthe silverware and meet his old friend! Were talkingfreedom, here, everybody! Freedom from the bindingof the past. Thats how I see it! Daisy concludes.

So, you are saying that the burning of the oldsilverware when I was little, actually created anopening within my human family for a new start foreveryone? Sky asks.

Absolutely and symbolically! Freedom for everybody!Daisy adds. Freedom is the hoped for by-product ofrevolution!she enthusiastically concludes.

Skylar Bear takes a deep breath and looks over at Papa-gi to see a big smile. Papa-gis grin is even bigger thanusual:happiness, joy and approval all in one emotionalstatement. Sky feels that during the telling of Papas

story, the story itself became alive in the room, andcaptured everyones awareness. He now looks over at

    Chapter 7The Messenger

Good byes and promises of more sharings pass as thetrees go by the little cooking oil propelled Jeep at 60miles per hour. It is only a few nows, and Daisy and Skyare in front of the archway of the burial place of manypatriots and founders of Colonial America. A parking

spot immediately appears about 200 feet from theentrance, but Daisys intuition tells her to wait, and sheasks,

Sky? Can we please keep on driving, right throughthose gates... there?

    OK, Skylar replies.

Just as they pass under the massive entrance gate, a

man approaches. Sky opens the side curtain, and asksthe man May we enter?

You sure can,but were closing in about 5 minutes, hereplies.

Do you know were Sarah Jocelyn is buried?Sky asks. The man doesnt flinch too much, considering he ishaving a conversation with a polar bear.

Right over there. Right in back of that blue pickup

With four and a half minutes in human time to gobefore closing,Daisy has somehow navigated less than20 feet from their destination. Both bears look over atthe grave,as if to see whether the story that they just

heard is living here as much as in Papa-gis livingroom! They get out of the Jeep, and Sky turns backamd asks,

    Are you coming, Daisy?.

No thanks, I think Ill just stand here and take apicture, she replies.

Sky walks three more steps and bends over, touchingSarahs ancestral burial marker with his paw. He takesa long, deep, breath.

Thanks, Sarah!Sky whispers. Thanks for asking foryour silverware back,he emotionally continues.

Thanks for showing us in this now the importance ofour ancestors, and how important it is for all of us onEarth to continue sending our hopeful thoughts toroot into future generations.

The Earths children await a time where wars will notbe needed and a time will come where people willsettle differences through their hearts, withoutconflict.Revolutions will only occur within the HumanSpirit... person by person. Revolutions will not beneeded in the old ways of war. The leaders will followtheir peaceful hearts, instead of just copying others

who have not each won their own inner revolution! This time is ahead very soon. The animals know.Theancestors know. The children must also know.

And so ends the story of two bears, two Sarahs, manyGeorges, seven generations apart in one family, andhow they dealt with unfolding destiny. Oneunknowingly risked her husbands life and freedomand her familys silverware as ransom for the freedomof an emerging city.

The other may have unknowingly freed her family bythe simple act of melting the familys silverwarehanded down from many generations, thus altering thecircle of life from the same experiences, generationafter generation,at least according to one Polar Bear.

But are such just tales of Karma and Destiny? Or arethey more real than that? You must decide. Look deep
