I don't know about everyone else, but words cannot

express how excited I am about my fourth and final

FALL RALLY!!!! I cannot wait to have our Key Club

shirt in hand, screaming how good I feel. But first

things first! Each of us must contribute to the division

goal of $3000 for PTP! This is an opportunity for YOU

to make a difference and leave your GOLDEN

legacy. As dedicated members, we can once

again break our previous record of $2500!

The next few months will be a very busy time as

students and as Key Clubbers. If you ever need to

contact me for anything, know that I am here. I

want to help you not only leave your GOLDEN

Legacy, but also share your enthusiasm with others.

Good Luck and never hesitate to ask for help.

THE TALENT SHOW

Page 5: D19n news 11 1314

Month of October

During the month of September, Da

Vinci members participated in a

beach clean-up. We had a lot of fun

while helping the environment and

the community. We also participated

in Boarding for Breast Cancer and

fundraised more than $200 for the

cause. Some of our members even

went to the AIDS Walk. We are

currently trying to fundraise for Fall

Rally and are planning for many more

events.

Gardena:

The month of October has been an extremely productive month for CAMS

Key Club. Returning to the end of September, we finished off the month

with the Gardena Food and Wine Festival on the 28th, and the Los Angeles

Cancer Walk on the 29th. During the Wine Festival our Key Club helped at

the various booths present, passing out food and helping out where

needed. At the Cancer Walk our club was assigned to the registration

booth. Although we had to arrive early, it was well worth it to help out for

such a worthy cause.

Following the double booked weekend in September, CAMS Key

Club experienced an extremely busy beginning of the month, with at least

one event every week. On the 6th of October CAMS Key Club along with

King Drew Key Club volunteered at the Los Angeles CicLaVia event. During

this event, the streets of Los Angeles were closed down to allow pedestrians

to explore LA. It was our job to ensure that the bikers, walkers, and runners

were safe from the cars that were allowed to pass periodically. On October

12th eight of our members attended RTC where we learned valuable

information about Key Club and the upcoming Fall Rally. The day after on

the 13th, while Division 19N was walking the AIDS Walk, CAMS Key Club

volunteered at the 11th mile of the Long Beach Marathon, providing support

and passing out water.

Currently our club is scheduled to volunteer at a Halloween

Festival in Torrance on Halloween. We are also continuing to fundraise for

PTP and prepare for Fall Rally. The year has finally started and CAMS Key

Club is starting the year strong!

The month of October has been a busy

time for Gardena Key Club. We recently

participated in two of Gardena's biggest

festivals alongside CSUDH Circle K.

Through the Food Wine and Cigar

festival, Gardena Key Club members

had a variety of task, such as serving

food. The Food Wine and Cigar festival is

the second largest festival in Gardena.

We also participated in the Heritage

Festival, where we managed the

children area. We were in charge of the

carnival games, petting zoo, and the

coloring area.

Month of October

This past month El Segundo High School Key Club participated

in the school-wide Club Fair. We recruited new members and told

our school what Key Club is about. We also held a raffle for Key

Club spirit gear. Our club also participated in the AIDS Walk held

on October 13th. Members from our club represented Division 19

North at the event. They completed the walk to help raise funds to

fight AIDS. In addition, our club attended Region 8 RTC this month.

The Regional Training Conference was definitely a fun experience

as members and officers immersed themselves in Key Club.

Officers learned what they could do to improve in their positions

and members got to know more about Key Club and how to run

for a position. Overall, it was a great experience.

For the month of September through October 15th, we have

volunteered in four events. On September 21th we volunteered

at the Salvation Army health fair. At the fair, we helped set up

booths, and helped clean up and direct people to their

destination. The Salvation Army Health Fair was from 8am- 3pm.

On September 28th, there was an event called Lawndale Clean

up. At the Lawndale clean up, we cleaned up thrash around

the community and placed them in garbage bags. The clean

up was from 9am-12pm. On October 5th our club volunteered at

the Manhattan Beach Fair. The Fair was from 9am- 6pm. At the

fair it was really HOT! But besides he hot weather, we helped out

at the inflatable, regulate kids and keep the lines organized.

Our last event that we volunteered for was the LA AIDS Walk on

October 13th. The event started from 7am – 3pm. At the event

we helped pass out food, cheer on the walkers, lead the

walkers on the right path and empty out the trash bins.

Lawndale

El Segundo

October 6th 2013: CICLAVIA Event. On this event

K/D Key clubbers were able to volunteer by giving

out water to the people who were participating.

We were also able to interact with CAMS HS and

help people cross the streets in an orderly fashion.

October 13th 2013: AIDS Walk. On Sunday we

registered for the AIDS Walk and walked

approximately six miles. It was a great experience

because we participated in raising money for an

important cause. We met new people and

became more informed on the annual walk.

Hawthorne’s member of the month was Viet Ngyuen. He’s

been on of our few members who just barely joined Key

Club and has shown commitment. Our club is proud to say

that he is a reliable and never fails to show up for

events. He is a member that shows others what the true

meaning of giving back to the community. By being highly

active in Hawthorne's Key Club he has received up to 18

hours which is above the average hours that our members

must have as of right now. This has proven to our club that

his dedication has earned him the spot to be member of

the month .We appreciate having such a high spirited

young man like Viet, and this is why we wanted to

recognize him for his hard work.

Viet Ngyuen

This month or MOTM is Gabriella Cruz!! She is new to the club and has shown exceptional service. She has been working alongside with her sister, Ariana Cruz (a senior member), to make the community a better place. Although she is pretty shy, this Pirate Penguin is ready to show her spirit. She will be attending Fall Rally for the first time this year. Best of luck my might Pirate Penguin!! And congratulations!

Fabian Leiva is HMSA's member of the

month. Fabian has gone to every

community event this month from

National Beach Clean-up Day to

DCMs. He attends all the meetings,

and he helps officers maximize

attendance. He will also be going to

Fall Rally, so give him a "How do you

feel?!" or a nice big penguin hug for

doing the most he can for the

community.

The member of the month for October is

Mona Narumi. Since school had started, she

has become active in spreading Key Club to

other classmates. She had come to every

meeting, ready to serve the club. And also

as the secretary of the club, she has

diligently been collecting dues and is

working as hard as she can. At the club fair

for El Segundo, she stayed at the desk and

greeted everyone with a smile and warming

attitude.

For the month of October, the member of the

month is Rose. I'm very proud in Rose for being

so dedicated to Key Club. Rose is a freshman

and has always been to every meeting and is

always curious about when the next

volunteering event is. She has been to most of

the events that we have had and has been to

all of the divisional events. I am really happy

that we have a freshman that is dedicated

because I know that our Key Club will be

stable when the leaders leave. I'm really

thankful to have her in our club!

Rose

Martin Perez is the member of the month

for King Drew. For showing absolute

enthusiasm and spirit in helping others, he

has gladly participated in almost every

event possible. He has helped the officers

and the members themselves with

commitment and dedication without

asking anything in return. I proudly present

him as the K/D Key Club Member of the

Month of October’ not only for his

willingness to help, but for his loyalty and

dedication to the club itself.
