Hi, I'm Tyler Ly, and I will be serving as one of

the EA's for this term. I attend Scripps Ranch

High and was ecstatic when I found out that I

was chosen to be able to serve all of you. I

wish to serve the division to the best of my

ability, and I hope that I will be able to meet

all of you and see you serve our great com-

munity.

Hey Key Clubbers!

This past month has been a time of transi-

tion and change for many of you. As the

Seniors have graduated, some may say

that the role models of our clubs have

left, however, keep in mind that this gives

us younger members a chance to BEE the

new role models!

During this past month, Division 21 has

held its first all-member Officer Training

Conference, with over fifty attendees! The

day was spent educating members about

technology, ethics, Key Club, and Key Club

positions! The day was wrapped up with

an exciting DCM workshop where we

learned (and played) icebreakers. Overall,

I was extremely happy with how OTC

turned out! Thank you to everyone who

came, and to those of you who couldn’t

make it, please don’t hesitate to look at

the workshops that have been posted

online.

Lastly, keep in mind that while Summer is

a break from school, service never has to

end! Keep on racking up those hours and

remember to BEE active in your clubs. In-

vite some friends, drink lots of water, and

have fun!

Thank you for your GOLDEN service.

PAST EVENTS

WE Connect strives to "help working families get connected to money saving

programs and other important resources that will help them save money, be

more financially secure, and lead healthier lives." On Saturday, July 13th, Patrick

Henry Key Club did exactly that: helping families in the community gain stability!

Along with our club were members from both Madison and Serra High School's

Key Club. We were all very happy to lend a hand.

Patrick Henry Key Clubbers were assigned the 'Kid Zone'. In this section, we

helped with checking in and out the kids with parents and occupying them with

arts and crafts, while parents were walking around the fair. First, we had to set

up the area and fill each table with activities and supplies for the kids. While

these activities were meant for the children, volunteers had fun as well! We

needed to create examples for the kids to see, so we colored, glued, folded, etc.

to our hearts content until they came.

As participants trickled into the Kid Zone, things got more hectic. Running

around replenishing supplies and providing every child with activities and atten-

tion was hard work, but overall very rewarding. We had reading tests, trivia,

drawing contests, and word search competitions. All very fun!

Although tiresome, a day at the Jacobs Center was one well spent with the

other Key Clubbers and the community!

One of the recent events that Point Loma Key Club's members have attended is OTC, Officer Training Con-ference. We got to meet new people and learn more information through the workshops there. After OTC, the July DCM intro-duced us to new icebreak-ers, especially Fat Penguin. It was a fun experience and helped give us new ideas for icebreakers to do during our club meetings. The event we attended was definitely worth going to!

UPCOMING EVENTS

RTC

6

An event where Key Clubbers

from Region 1 and 2 get to-

gether to learn how to be-

come better members and of-

ficers for the future. Work-

shops are presented, ranging

from learning to use Pho-

toshop to learning how to

keep their school’s Key Club

running. In between the

workshops, Key Clubbers get

together to show off their

spirit through their mascots

and cheers. These spirit bat-

tles will determine which divi-

sion deserves the spirit trophy

at the end. A dance follows

after all these tiring work-

shops to release the stress.

We hope to see you there this

year!

TECH EDITOR’S CORNER

Hello, wonderful Key Clubbers,

Hope you are having a wonderful

summer! This month has been slow,

but thanks to OTC, it’s made me re-

member that Key Club is still ongo-

ing. This month is the month of

Comic-Con, a convention full of su-

perheroes. Any Key Clubbers going

are sure to witness many amazing

things! Speaking of superheroes,

hope you all are preparing capes and

masks for our theme for RTC! Super-

powers of service,

here we come!

Stay Frosty,

Estella Hoang
