AC technology has revolutionized the drilling industry.

Operator demand for AC rigs has dramatically increased

in recent years due to the proven benefits of this

technology. Nowhere are the benefits of AC technology

more significant than in AC drawworks. Regenerative

braking, extremely precise control, accurate weight on

bit (WOB), advanced electronic autodrilling capabilities,

automated tripping sequences, bridge protection, and

swab and surge protection are drawworks features

enabled by AC technology. These newly enabled

features allow an operator to drill better quality wells

in substantially less time.

AC rigs drill better wells faster. Risks of fo rmation

damage and induced kicks are greatly reduced by new

control features like surge and swab protection. When

utilizing the advanced AC electronic driller functionality,

all four drilling parameters WOB, Delta P, Rate of

Penetration (ROP), and Surface Torque are all

monitored simultaneously and instantaneously, allowing

for rapid adjustments to maintain a steady drill ing state,

keeping the bits cutting surface in optimum contact

with the formation. This reduces bit bounce and creates

a more stable environment for the bit and bottom hole assembly. Bits achieve maximum ROP and maximum

life, which reduces bit trips and drilling time, which reduces the total cost of the well.

Just as DC rigs superseded mechanical rigs; AC rigs are superseding DC rigs and have become the rig technology

of choice. The NOVAccelerate Your Rig upgrade package will help you advance your rig to the next level and

achieve higher rig utilization. This fully integrated package consists of NOV AC Drawworks with NOV AC Motors,

NOV AC Drawworks

When compared to conventional

DC and mechanical drawworks,

AC drawworks are smaller, lighter,

stronger, faster, more efficient,

and more reliable. By eliminating

the chains, sprockets, and

auxiliary brakes, the footprint of

AC drawworks is significa ntly

reduced. Because regular braking

is performed by the AC motors,

there is less wear and tear on the

mechanical park ing and

emergency brakes. Fewer moving

parts means less required

maintenance and less downtime.

NOV Drill Force AC Motors

NOVs Drill Force AC Motors are the obvious choice to pair with NOVs Drill Force Drives and AC Drawworks.

These brushless AC motors reduce maintenance associated with conventional DC motors. The motors provide

the ability of regenerative braking and stalling. The motors can hold the drawworks maximum hook load at a

standstill indefinitely.
