This course starts at 2:00pm on the first day and

finishes at 4:30pm on the second day.

Cost£350 + VAT

Who will benefit?

Site technicians, boiler operators, supervisors, energy managers,

plant engineers and maintenance engineers responsible for

the day to day running of steam boilers and utility plant.

Delegates will learn about:

• Raw water types

• Fundamentals of steam

• Boiler water pre-treatment systems, softeners,

de-alkalisation, reverse osmosis and demineralisation

• Boiler deaeration, hotwell design

• Water treatment chemicals

• Practical chemical dosing

• Water treatment control strategies

• Boiler water treatment guidelines BS 2486:1997,

EN 12953.PT10

• Dealing with scale, corrosion and fouling

• Improving boiler efficiency using water treatment

control

• Boiler water treatment testing, paper and electronic

record keeping and practical control

• Understanding boiler water treatments

• Working with water treatment companies

Objectives

To provide delegates with a practical guide to water

treatment operations, chemical dosing and boiler water

treatment strategies. Delegates will learn the importance

of water treatment guidelines (BS & EN regulations) and

be able to develop schemes to prevent scale, corrosion

and fouling.

E1

Who will benefit?

Energy managers, plant engineers, utilities engineers,

accountants, graduate engineers and others needing

to manage costs, improve efficiency or reduce

steam demand.

Delegates will learn about:

• Establishing the cost of steam

• Saving energy in the boiler house

• Optimising their steam system

• Estimating the energy requirements of plant

• Identifying and quantifying savings

• Relating fuel savings to carbon and CO2

• Calculating a payback period

• Sources of further help and information

Objectives

To identify opportunities

for energy savings in steam

systems and to provide the

tools to help quantify and

evaluate savings. To link

energy savings to emissions

and to explore ways of financing schemes and reducing

the tax burden. The course majors on providing and

justifying solutions rather than products and practices.

Examples and case studies will be used throughout.

OS On-site Courses

Duration

To suit

Dates

Please contact us with details of your requirements.

We would be pleased to discuss and agree course

content or we can provide typical programmes for

you to customise.

Cost

Courses will be priced according to location,

content and duration.

11

Who will benefit?

Maintenance engineers, fitters, plant engineers, boiler

attendants, design engineers, etc.

Objectives & Topics

Naturally we would prefer you to visit our Cheltenham

Training Centre, where a dedicated boiler plant and

demonstration area is the first choice for hands-on training

and demonstrations (see page 1).

However, if this is not practical, perhaps due to your shift

coverage, then why not hold a bespoke course on-site?

Most of the courses listed in this brochure can be delivered

on-site (popular ones include steam boiler house overview,

the D6 (page 5), introduction to steam systems and safety

awareness). We can offer suggested programmes which can

be customised to meet your exact needs.
