Page 2: Daily Itinerary - Virginia Tech€¦ · which drops over 600 feet and is one of the tallest waterfalls in the country. No trip to Oregon is complete without a Winery Tour & Tasting

Dear Virginia Tech Alumni and Friends,

Experience the “City of Roses” and the Portland Rose Festival, an annual tradition dating back over 100 years. Unpack once and enjoy five nights in Portland to enjoy all that the city has to offer.

The program begins with a visit to the Johnston Ridge Observatory overlooking Mt. St. Helens to learn how the 1980 eruption forever changed the surrounding landscape. Then learn more about Portland with a panoramic Portland City Tour featuring Washington Park, the International Rose Test Garden, home to 7,000 rose plants & a visit to the Pittock Man-sion, a French Renaissance-style chateau in the hills overlooking the downtown skyline. The third day of the trip brings the Portland Rose Festival, sure to be a highlight featuring the second largest all-floral parade in the country along with many other events through-out the city.

Other experiences and attractions on the program include a trip to the Oregon Coast, which provides fantastic scenery along with a visit to the coastal town of Astoria and drives past Rockaway & Cannon State Beaches. Visit the Tillamook Cheese Factory for a tour and tasting. Cruise aboard the Sternwheeler Columbia Gorge through parts of the Columbia River Gorge, learning about Lewis & Clark while taking in the incredible Multnomah Falls, which drops over 600 feet and is one of the tallest waterfalls in the country. No trip to Oregon is complete without a Winery Tour & Tasting as Oregon now ranks 4th in US wine production.

Please review the itinerary details and keep in mind that roundtrip airfare is included in the tour price. We hope that you can join us on this incredible trip!

Cheers,
