Foxtrot Basic (SAY: “Slow-and, slow-and, quick-quick” or “Walk, walk, side-together”) Remember: Heel glide forward, toe glide backward Forward box (FORWARD: Slow walk left, slow walk right - TO LEFT: quick left, quick right- together) Backward box (BACKWARD: Slow walk right, slow walk left - TO RIGHT: quick right, quick left-together) TIPS: For an extra challenge try arms in “dance position”. SAFTEY TIP of the DAY: If you are having an especially challenging balance day, use your fingertips or hands to give your body a little more help. Dance near a countertop or use a partner! Teach a friend; it’s more fun! WEEKLY BALANCE CHALLENGE: Combine the balance challenges from the last couple of weeks and “rock and roll!” Practice lifting your toes, leaning back into your heels and then lift your heels, coming up onto your toes. TRY THIS: SWAY STEP (SAY: “Slow-and, slow-and, quick-quick, quick-quick” or “Walk, walk, side-together, side-together”) Start with one basic step, and then, as LEAD:

• Side LEFT (slow), side RIGHT (slow) *STEP LEFT together (and) *, quick-quick (side RIGHT- together LEFT), quick-quick (side RIGHT- together LEFT).

• Repeat, or go back into a basic step or OTHER new step! TRY THIS: CORNER STEP – Helpful to change direction, to get out of the corner or away from an object, or for interest! (SAY: “Slow-and, slow-and, quick-quick” or “Walk, walk, side-together”) Start with one basic step. Then, as LEAD: • Forward walk LEFT • Backward walk RIGHT • Side-together ( LEFT – RIGHT) with a

1/4 –turn. • Repeat to keep turning!
