Step-By-Step

When creating a custom design for your ensemble, it’s important to create strong lines of communication to clearly understand your program ideas and make sure they live within the design. The first, and most important steps in creating a custom costume is to contact DS to request a Custom Design Information Sheet. Complete the sheet and return it to begin the process.

Next, schedule a design consultation. The initial consultation may be done at the Dance Sophisticates Show Room in Indianapolis, IN or by telephone/video conference call. This will be your opportunity to share information with the designer regarding the program concept, musical selections, style ideas, pictures, color choices and any other inspiration you have for the costume designs. During that time, the designer will create rough sketches and fabrics will be viewed for consideration. Fabric swatches will be sent to you if the consultation is taking place by phone or video conferencing at no charge.

About Chad Duggan• Chad Duggan is a Custom Costume Designer based in Indianapolis, Indiana.

• For two decades, he has created styles that have set the standard for performance ensembles large and small.

• From community theatre to full-scale Vegas productions, his use of unique materials, color and texture have made a powerful statement in the world of costume design.

Your DS designer will then create beautiful, full-color fashion renderings of each of your costumes based on the information obtained during the design consultation.

Once the sketches are approved, and the fabrics have been selected, samples of your costumes are created to check proportion and fit. Any samples will be presented for your approval.

The order is officially processed and scheduled for production upon approval of samples with receipt of complete student measurements and either a deposit or P.O. from your school.

Your beautiful DS costumes will arrive with each student’s name and measurements printed on the identification tags. Each costume will be hanging on quality garment hangers that are also labeled with the student’s names.
