The Danfoss Central Station Software Package runs on anIBM compatible Personal Computer using Windows 95, 98or NT. Compatibility with Windows 2000 and ME isexpected.

The Central Station system allows the monitoring andconfiguration of remote Woodley temperature monitoringdevices via a telephone line and modem or directly via theRS232 port and cabling.

At the present time, connection can be made to theWoodley s5, Micromon, m2, Woodley 4 and Vigil units. The Danfoss Central Station Package also includes theMinitel Emulation Software which can be selected ifrequired to monitor and configure remote s5, Micromonand m2 units.

Note: Some versions of the Micromon have an RS485interface which replaces the RS232 port. In this case, thePC can be fitted with an RS485 converter to allowcommunication with this type of Micromon.

Danfoss Central Station allows the facility to automaticallyuse the ID of the Vigil/W4 as the site name before starting anupload.

The first button contains the ID of the unit, and the secondbutton contains the current site name.

In this example ‘G111ABC’ is the ID of the unit. Press thiskey to create a site of this name automatically, change this tobe the current site, and continue with the upload to this newsite. If the site name already exists, the site becomes thecurrent site and the upload continues.

In this example, ‘Vigil’ is the current site name. Press this keyto continue uploading using the current site.

Press ‘New Name’ to enter a new site name that is neitherthe unit ID or the current site name. A new site is createdwhich becomes the current site, and the upload continues.

Note: If the ID obtained from the unit has any leading spaces,or any trailing dots or spaces, these are removed before theID is displayed in the ‘Upload from new site’ window, andused as a site name. Power management settings on laptop computers cansometimes interfere with upload operations on COM ports. When this happens a successful connection is made betweenCentral Station and the unit, but the upload can fail at any time, usually very soon after the start.

Power management settings vary. Here are two methods ofclearing the problem:

1. Go to Control Panel, Power. Press the Advanced button andselect the Troubleshooting tab. Turn on ‘Disable power statuspolling’.

2. Go to Control Panel, Power. Set the ‘Power management’to Standard. If that fails, try ‘Off’.

If your computer does not have these settings, turning offpower management completely will solve the problem. But, inorder to retain some form of power management, it is better tofind exactly which setting to change.
