Installation

IMPORTANT: The supply to this unit should by wired via a full

disconnect in accordance with BS EN60730-1, i.e. one which

provides air gaps of at least 3mm in both poles of the mains, andincorporates a 3 amp fuse. It is strongly recommended that solid

conductors be used.

Please note:If replacing an existing TP9, please check warranty expirydate of the defective product. If date precedes June 2005, the remote

sensor must also be changed.

First, remove the wallplate from the back of the unit.

When fixing the wallplate remember the connections are atthe top and the vertical centre line of the unit is at the positionshown C/L, (which is at the right hand edge of the terminal 4recess).

Fix the wallplate to the wall or flush mounted box as required.Surface cables can only enter from below the unit. If mountedon a flush mounted box, cables can enter from the rearthrough the aperture in the wallplate.

Whilst the unit does not require an Earth connection, twoterminals are provided on the wallplate for Earth continuitypurposes.

Locate and fix the Remote Sensor 1.5m above floor, away fromdraughts and extraneous heat gains. Remote Sensor wiringshould be in 1mm2 Mains Voltage Cable (not flexible cord).Sensor cable must not be run parallel to mains cable in orderto avoid pick-up.

For wiring connections refer to diagrams on pages 7-13.

Set the unit for either 24 hour or 5/2 day operation. It is suppliedready for 5/2 day operation, and in the unlinked PUMPEDprimaries condition. To convert it to 24 hour operation movethe Switches 2 and 3 on the back of the unit to the 24 HRposition. To operate in the linked GRAVITY condition move

Switch 1 to the GRAVITY position.

The operating temperature range, which is factory preset to 5-30C, can also be reset at time of installation to 16-30C makingthe TP9 a safe solution for use in sheltered accommodation(where hypothermia may be of concern, for example). To alterthe factory preset, move Switch 4 on the back of the unit.

Locate the module on the two locating lugs on the top of thewallplate and hinge downwards to fully engage the fixingscrews in the slots at the bottom of the module. Tighten thescrews.

Important: To remove unit from wall, isolate power supply.

Slacken the two screws at the underside of the module and ease

the bottom of the module away from the wall to disengage from

the wallplate. Lift the module off the two locating lugs on the top

of the wallplate.

Whilst every attempt has been made to ensure the accuracyof this information it is recommended that the specificinformation relating to the ancillary controls is obtained fromthe manufacturers concerned.

NOTE:

The TP9 does not have voltage free contacts, therefore it isNOT suitable for connection to extra low voltage equipment(i.e. > 50 Volts).

Remote Sensor to be wired with 1mm 2 core double insulatedcable only. Cable length should not exceed 50 metres. Sensorcable should NOT be run parallel to mains cable.

What is a programmable room thermostat?

... an explanation for householders.A programmable room thermostat is both a programmer and a room thermostat. Aprogrammer allows you to set On and Off time periods to suit your own lifestyle. Aroom thermostat works by sensing the air temperature, switching on the heating whenthe air temperature falls below the thermostat setting, and switching it off once this settemperature has been reached.So, a programmable room thermostat lets you choose what times you want the heating tobe on, and what temperature it should reach while it is on. It will allow you to select differenttemperatures in your home at different times of the day (and days of the week) to meetyour particular needs.Turning a programmable room thermostat to a higher setting will not make the room heatup any faster. How quickly the room heats up depends on the design of the heating system,for example, the size of boiler and radiators.Neither does the setting affect how quickly the room cools down. Turning a programmable

room thermostat to a lower setting will result in the room being controlled at a lowertemperature, and saves energy.The way to set and use your programmable room thermostat is to find the lowesttemperature settings that you are comfortable with at the different times you have chosen,and then leave it alone to do its job. The best way to do this is to set low temperatures first,say 18C, and then turn them up by one degree each day until you are comfortable withthe temperatures. You wont have to adjust the thermostat further. Any adjustments abovethese settings will waste energy and cost you more money.If your heating system is a boiler with radiators, there will usually be only one programmableroom thermostat to control the whole house. But you can have different temperatures in

individual rooms by installing thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) on individual radiators. Ifyou dont have TRVs, you should choose a temperature that is reasonable for the whole house. If you do have TRVs, you can choose a slightly higher setting to make sure that eventhe coldest room is comfortable, then prevent any overheating in other rooms by adjustingthe TRVs.The time on the programmer must be correct. Some types have to be adjusted in spring andautumn at the changes between Greenwich Mean Time and British Summer Time.You may be able to temporarily adjust the heating programme, for example, Override,Advance or Boost. These are explained in the manufacturers instructions.

Programmable room thermostats need a free flow of air to sense the temperature, so theymust not be covered by curtains or blocked by furniture. Nearby electric fires, televisions,wall or table lamps may prevent the thermostat from working properly.

Please note: The TP9 also incorporates a timeswitch for domestic hot water control.

Your programmable thermostat

The TP9 is a programmable thermostat designed to control both yourhot water and heating. You can programme up to 6 different time andtemperature settings per day for the heating, and the hot water canbe turned on and off twice a day.

The TP9 will control your heating and hot water together orindependently (i.e. hot water only during the summer, heating

only for frost protection when building is empty). It also features 2temporary user overrides for added convenience.

How to read the display

Before you start

Resetting the unit

Open the flap on the front of yourprogrammer.

Press and hold the four buttons , , -

and + simultaneously for 3 seconds untilthe display goes blank, then release thebuttons.

This will reinstate the preset programmesand will set the time to 12:00 on Day 1.

Setting the Clock

Press PROGuntil the time and day numberbegin to blink in the display.

TIME - Press + and -to change time (press

and hold to change in 10 min increments).

Press PROGagain.

First time installation only

When the unit is first removed from its packaging the display will,

most probably, just show two dots (the colon). This is not a fault,but a battery saving feature.

Once fitted in accordance with the Installation Instructionssupplied and the mains electricity is switched on, the unit shouldbe activated by pressing any button and then RESET.

If at any time you get confused and need to reset the unit to

the preset programmes, press and hold the four buttons ,, - and +simultaneously(see page 17.)

Before you change the preset programme

Your installer will have set your unit to operate in either 24 hourmode or5/2 day mode.

To tell which mode your unit is set press PROG until Event 1 flashesin the display.

If your display looks like this, your unit is in24 hour mode and you can enter one set ofprogrammes for the whole week (see page20).

If your display looks like this, your unit is in 5/2 daymode and you can enter one set of programmesfor weekdays and another set for weekends(see page 21-22).

Programming the Hot Water

To set the hot water programme press thePROGbutton until A (1st On)appears on

the display.

Set the hot water programme in the sameway as the heating programme, using:

a) + and -buttons to alter the time,

b) pressing the PROGbutton to move tothe next setting:

Setting B = 1st Off Setting C = 2nd On Setting D = 2nd Off

Running your programme

The TP9 will control your Central Heating and Domestic Hot Watersystem in any one of three ways.

To switch between the 3 operating modes press both theandbuttons simultaneously. The display will alter as shown.

1. Heating & Hot Water

Automatically controls roomtemperature as programmed and

switches on hot water twice a day.

2. Heating only

Provides a constant low roomtemperature while the home is emptyfor extended periods.(N.B. When the unit switches the CH on,

the HW will also switch on if the unit has

been set for linked GRAVITY operation).

3. Water onlySwitches Hot Water on and off twice aday during the summer, or other timeswhen Central Heating is not needed.

However, if the room temperature fallsbelow the low setting displayed, theheating will switch ON.

NOTE:If the minimum temperature has been set to 16C and you

do not want the heating to switch ON at all whilst operating in this

mode, you should ask your installer to fit an extra switch to the CH

output. He can get the information he needs to do this from ourTechnical Services Department.

Temporary User Overrides

Sometimes you may need to change the way you use your

controller temporarily, i.e. due to an unexpected demand for hot

water or unusually cold weather. The TP9 has two convenientoverrides which can be selected without affecting the set

programme.

Hot Water

Pressing the +1HR button when the

hot water is ON will extend the ONperiod by an hour. Pressing this buttonwhen the hot water is OFF will turn thehot water ON for just one hour.

When the +1 HRON button is pressed,an O symbol appears in the display.

Heating

To temporarily over-ride theprogrammed temperature, use the or buttons to increase or decreasethe temperature as required.

An up or down arrow will appear inthe display as a reminder that theprogramme is over-ridden. The selectedtemperature will last until the nextprogrammed change.

Loss of power

If the unit is disconnected from themains supply (either intentionally

or due to a power-cut) the life-longintegral battery will retain both time-of-day, day, and the programmedtimes for 15 days.

During this period the display will appear normal except for theblinking battery symbol, with the clock keeping time.

On the 16th day of continuous loss of power, the clock will stopand the display will become blank, except for the colon whichwill be on continuously. However, the programmed times andtemperatures will be remembered.

When the power is restored (after more than 15 days)restart the unit by pressing any key.

The clock will restart at 12:00PM (MO).

All you then need to do is reset the time-of-day(and dayof week if the unit is 5/2 day mode) - see pages 17-18.

INSTALACIN

IMPORTANTE: La alimentacin de esta unidad debe cablearse mediante un

dispositivo de desconexin total de conformidad con BS EN60730-1, es decir,

de modo que exista una separacin de aire de, al menos, 3 mm en ambos

polos de la toma de red, e incorpore un fusible de 3 amp. Se recomiendaencarecidamente que se empleen conductores slidos.

Nota: Si sustituye un TP9 ya existente, compruebe la fecha devencimiento de la garanta del producto defectuoso. Si la fecha esanterior a junio de 2005, deber cambiarse tambin el sensor remoto.

Primero, retire la placa de asiento de la parte posterior de launidad.

Fije la placa de asiento a la pared o a la caja encastrada. Loscables de superficie slo pueden entrar por debajo de launidad. Si se monta sobre una caja encastrada, los cablespueden entrar por la parte posterior a travs de la aberturade la placa de asiento.

Aunque la unidad no necesita conexin a tierra, dispone dedos terminales en la placa de asiento para continuidad detierra.

El intervalo de temperaturas de funcionamiento, que defbrica viene fijado en 5-30C, tambin puede restablecerseen el momento de la instalacin a 16-30C, convirtiendo elTP9 en una solucin segura para su uso en un alojamientoresguardado (donde la hipotermia puede ser preocupante,

por ejemplo). Para modificar el ajuste de fbrica, conmute elInterruptor 4 de la parte posterior de la unidad.

Coloque el mdulo sobre las dos orejetas de posicinsituadas en la parte superior de la placa de asiento y bjelohasta enganchar completamente los tornillos de fijacin enlas ranuras situadas en la parte inferior del mdulo. Aprietelos tornillos.

Cableado

Aunque se ha hecho lo posible por garantizar la precisin deesta informacin, se recomienda obtener de los respectivosfabricantes la informacin especfica relativa a los controlesauxiliares.

NOTA:El TP9 no lleva contactos libres de tensin, por tanto NO esadecuado para conectarlo a equipos de baja tensin extra (esdecir, > 50 voltios).

Su termostato programable

El TP9 es un termostato programable diseado para controlar el aguacaliente y la calefaccin. Puede programar hasta 6 tiempos y ajustes detemperatura diferentes por da para la calefaccin y el agua calientepuede encenderse o apagarse dos veces al da.

El TP9 controlar su calefaccin y agua caliente de manera conjuntao independiente (es decir, agua caliente slo durante el verano, la

calefaccin slo para la proteccin contra la escarcha cuando el edificioest vaco). Tambin permite 2 modos de anulacin temporales por elusuario para mayor comodidad.

Cmo interpretar la pantalla

Instrucciones del usuario

Indica el da de lasemana.

Indica que la unidad se hadesconectado de la red, esdecir, despus de un cortedel suministro elctrico.

Indica que laanulacin de AGUA+1HR est enfuncionamiento.

Cuando la Calefaccin Central estENCENDIDA, aparece el smbolode una llama en la pantalla y seenciende el indicador rojo CH.

Cuando el Agua Caliente estENCENDIDA, aparece el smbolo deun grifo en la pantalla y se enciendeel indicador HW.

Su TP9 se entrega ya programado con una combinacin de horas ytemperaturas de funcionamiento que a menudo satisfacen a la mayorade las personas.

Tiempos y temperaturas de control de la calefaccin central

Antes de comenzar

Restablecer la unidad

Abra la pestaa del frontal del programador.

Pulse y mantenga pulsados los botones,,- y +simultneamentedurante 3 segundoshasta que la pantalla se ponga en blanco,

suelte entonces los botones.

Esto restablecer los programaspreestablecidos y fijar la hora en las 12:00del Da 1.

Ajustar el reloj

Pulse PROG hasta que comiencen aparpadear el nmero de la hora y el da enla pantalla.

HORA: Pulse + y -para cambiar la hora (pulsey mantenga pulsado el botn para cambiar aincrementos de 10 minutos)

Slo para la primera instalacin

Cuando se saca la unidad de su embalaje por primera vez,

probablemente la pantalla mostrar slo dos puntos. No se trata de unfallo, sino de un ahorro de batera.

Una vez instalada de acuerdo con las Instrucciones de Instalacinfacilitadas y conectada la alimentacin elctrica, la unidad deberaactivarse pulsando cualquier botn y luego RESET (RESTABLECER).

Nota

La unidad debe programarse en secuencia y las horas de ON/OFF no pueden programarse fuera de secuencia.

Si usted desea dejar una hora prefijada tal como est,

la unidad al programa preestablecido, oprima simultneamente

Ajuste el programa de agua calientedel mismo modo que el programa de lacalefaccin, utilizando:

b) Pulsando el botn PROG para pasar alsiguiente ajuste:

Poner en marcha el programa

El TP9 controlar su Sistema de Calefaccin Central y Agua CalienteDomstica de una de las siguientes tres maneras.

Para pasar de uno a otro de los tres modos de funcionamiento, pulselos botonesy simultneamente. La pantalla cambiar del modoindicado.

1. Calefaccin y agua caliente

Controla automticamente latemperatura ambiente tal como se

haya programado y activa el aguacaliente dos veces al da.

2. Slo calefaccin

Proporciona una baja temperaturaambiente constante mientras lacasa est vaca durante perodosprolongados.

(N.B.: Cuando la unidad activa la CH, el HW tambin se activar si la

unidad se ha ajustado para que funcione en modo de GRAVEDAD

conectado).

3. Slo aguaActiva y desactiva el Agua caliente dosveces al da durante el verano, o bien

otras veces cuando no se necesite laCalefaccin central.

No obstante, si la temperatura ambiente desciende por debajodel ajuste bajo mostrado en la pantalla, la calefaccin seactivar.

NOTA: Si la temperatura mnima se ha establecido en 16C y no desea que

se accione la calefaccin mientras funciona en este modo, debera pedirleal instalador que coloque un interruptor adicional en la salida de CH. El

instalador puede obtener la informacin necesaria para hacer esto en

nuestro Departamento de Servicio Tcnico.

Anulaciones temporales del usuario

En ocasiones, puede que necesite variar temporalmente el modo en que

utiliza el controlador, es decir, debido a una demanda inesperada de agua

caliente o un clima inusualmente fro. El TP9 tiene dos prcticos modosde anulacin que pueden seleccionarse sin que ello afecte al programa

establecido.

Agua caliente

Si se pulsa el botn +1HRcuando el agua

caliente est activada, se ampliar unahora el perodo de funcionamiento. Si sepulsa este botn cuando el agua calienteest desactivada, se activar durante slo una hora.

Cuando se pulsa el botn +1 HR ON,aparece el smbolo O en la pantalla.

Calefaccin

Para anular temporalmente la temperaturaprogramada, emplee los botones o para subir o bajar la temperatura como lorequiera.

Aparecer en la pantalla una flecha haciaarriba o hacia abajo como recordatoriode que el programa ha sido anulado. Latemperatura seleccionada durar hastael siguiente cambio programado.

Prdida de alimentacin

Si la unidad se desconecta de la tomade red (de manera intencionada o

por un corte del suministro elctrico),la batera integral de larga duracinmantendr la hora del da, el da y lashoras programadas durante 15 das.

Durante este periodo, la pantalla aparecer normal salvo por elsmbolo parpadeante de la batera y el reloj con el tiempo.

En el da 16 de prdida continua de alimentacin, el reloj sedetendr y la pantalla se pondr en blanco, excepto los dos puntosque seguirn vindose continuamente. No obstante, se recordarnlas horas y las temperaturas programadas.

Cuando se restablezca la alimentacin (pasados ms de 15das), reinicie la unidad pulsando cualquier tecla.

El reloj se reiniciar a las 12:00PM (MO).

Lo nico que necesita hacer es restablecer la hora del da (yel da de la semana si la unidad est en el modo de 5/2 das)-vanse las pginas 40-41.

TP9 bdzie sterowa prac centralnego ogrzewania lub domowej

ciepej wody na jeden z trzech sposobw.

Aby przeczy midzy 3 trybami pracy, jednoczenie nacisn

przyciskim oraz. Wywietlacz zmieni si w sposb pokazanyna rycinie.

1. Ogrzewanie i woda ciepa

Automatyczne sterowanie temperatur

pomieszczenia zgodnie z programem,

wczanie wody ciepej dwa razy nadzie.

2. Tylko ogrzewanie

Zapewnia sta nisk temperatur w

pomieszczeniu, gdy budynek jest pusty

przez duszy czas.

Czasami zachodzi potrzeba tymczasowej zmiany sposobu

uytkowania regulatora, np. z powodu nieoczekiwanego

popytu na ciep wod lub niezwykle niskich temperatur.TP9 posiada dwie wygodne funkcje nadrzdne, ktre mona

wybra bez wpywu na ustawiony program.

Woda gorca

Naciskanie przycisku +1HR, gdy

godzin. Nacinicie tego przycisku,

gdy woda ciepa jest wyczona
